Mavric
Nice to see a couple Nebraska kids get some recognition for the work they put in. In five years of basketball at Nebraska, guard Trevor Menke has played the equivalent of 2½ full games and scored 10 points. Center Kye Kurkowski, in his five years, has played less than a full game while scoring six points. Yet the two instate senior walk-ons say they have zero regrets about the time they put in with the Huskers under two coaches. Current head coach Tim Miles on Friday saluted Menke from Beatrice and Kurkowski from Grant, whom he inherited from Doc Sadler. “They’re awesome kids,’’ Miles said. “They are so great to have around. They are sharp-minded guys who do all the dirty work that nobody else wants to do on the scout team.’’ The two became a resource and sounding board for Miles upon his arrival. “What they filled me in on was Nebraska and the university, and how things worked around here,’’ he said. “They were critical.’’ OWH Quote Link to comment
