stats post for the week focusing on the Corn

I've switched to just using stats from conference games so we don't have to worry so much about strength of schedule differences.  For strength of schedule (SOS) rankings, I'm just taking the average of all the average percentiles for the teams a team has played.  The cfbstats.com website is where I'm getting the stats.  Independent teams are the only ones left off (like Notre Dame, BYU, and UMass) because they're not in conferences.  To clarify further, a 50th percentile ranking means the team's statistic is equal to the national average.  Note also that the last percentiles I'm sharing (in parentheses) are from before the bye week.  p.s. - The other thing about the numbers in the parentheses is they were probably from before I was using just the stats from games teams played against their conference opponents.  I need to get organizized sometimes.

Passing Offense: Nebraska 68 (was 57 before PU game) and Northwestern 52

Passing Defense: Nebraska 59 (was 54) and Northwestern 26

Rushing Offense: Northwestern 20 and Nebraska 15 (was 23)

Rushing Defense: Northwestern 90 and Nebraska 35 (was 37)

Scoring Offense: Northwestern 37 and Nebraska 26 (was 28)

Scoring Defense: Northwestern 59 and Nebraska 46 (was 41)

Total Offense: Northwestern 47 and Nebraska 45 (was 35)

Total Defense: Nebraska 66 (was 65) and Northwestern 57

Turnover Margin: Northwestern 39 and Nebraska 38 (was 36)

 

I don't believe Northwestern's rushing defense is really 90th-percentile good.  I think their opponents have just had an easier time throwing it over their heads.  Let's go, Tanner!
