Nebraska week on Off Tackle Empire (SBNation B1G Blog)

Monday: The Nebraska Cocktail Party Preview
It's been a weird few years as a Nebraska fan. On one hand, you've been a part of an institutionally significant move to the Big Ten, you have watched as your football team exceeds and underachieves - often in the same game, you have witnessed the new dawn of a basketball team that might matter as much as the football team, and you have seen the most important moment in your coach's tenure happen during the offseason, none of which had to do with football. Basically, you have been on a roller coaster of fairly epic proportions. On the flipside, it could always be worse, right? Let's get to it. Here's everything you need to know about Nebraska the next time you find out that your VC is coming from investors who were Berkshire groundfloor guys.

Tuesday: The Smartest Guys in the Room: Bo Pelini, Cats, and Moving Forwward
It was time to face the music. After a somewhat insanely called game from the head coach, media members awaited to get the next juicy soundbyte for the local news. National news members waited for an opportunity to skewer what used to be a football power. Fans? Well, fans were trying to figure out how they felt. Everyone knew implicitly that this was going to be a brutal five minutes, but no one knew just how far it could go. Everything was on the table. It wasn't enough that Iowa had just walked right over the home team, it was also that this seemed like Pelini's last stand. How would he react? Was he told he had to win or else? What would happen?

Wednesday: The Nebraska Potluck Part I
It's Nebraska week, which means we are going to the state where steak is a staple, corn is a vegetable, and various colors of beige reign supreme. If you thought to yourself, "Um, that doesn't sound so bad," then you've come to the right place. Or, you're a midwesterner. Either way, part one of the potluck looks at B1G West QBs, Tommy Armstrong's potential, the 'blackshirts', Jet Sweeps, and what Nebraska's defense will do next season. Good times!

Thursday: The Nebraska Potluck Part II
In Part I of the Nebraska Potluck, we examined #Brands. Now it's time to jump into the Nebraska staples, non-steak category. Follow along as we look at Bo Pelini, fireable offenses, Bogatory, PositionU, best kicks, cuts-of-meat, and strangely enough, WLAX.

Friday: The Great Nebraska "Apology" Letter
Because what says hate better than self hate? Especially when the person self hating is not really self-hating at all. If you didn't hate Nebraska before, this might help...
[Ed Note: I asked my friend Salt Creek and Stadium to pen some thoughts on why a person might hate Nebraska. After all, who hates Nebraska more than Nebraskans? The following is an open letter to the Big Ten. Note: If you choose to go after someone with pitchforks and torches, I highly recommend Salt. He's in Georgia, though.]

B1G 2014 // The Great Nebraska "Apology" Letter

To the Big Ten membership and OTE denizens,
My name is Salt Creek and Stadium, and I am a Nebraska fan. I wanted to take this moment to apologize profusely to the rest of the Big Ten for Nebraska's various transgressions.
First, I want to apologize for our fans. Decades of cheering as the "GREATEST FANS OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL" have made us insensitive to the plight of other fans and unable to truly appreciate the changes in the college football ecosystem. We failed to appreciate these changes and should be thankful to the Big Ten for working so diligently to bring us to their level.

Wut? Okay, it's kinda funny. In a demeaning sort of way. But I thought Nebraska week would be about football. :dunno

Friday's of each week is "hate day" for a rival. But, we don't have one, so, yeah.
