The current administration couldn’t understand that inflation was creeping up and wouldn’t acknowledge it as a problem until they had no other choice.   For far too long, your group tried to gaslight the country and tell us it was very temporary and transitory and we really wouldn’t feel any real aftermath of inflation.    That is until reality hit them in the face and the electorate wasn’t too happy about the gaslighting and then starting questioning all the bulls#!t being fed to them.

the condescending attitude of Washington DC ruling class telling the average voter that prices really weren’t that high and it’s just bacon rising $.20 that week so quit worrying didn’t work out to well for the Democrats this cycle.

If anyone in the administration stood up and gave the true story of the pandemic economy, the global inflation that came with it, and actions being taken to mitigate it, the response would have been identical. The U.S. actually emerged from the pandemic better than any country on Earth, an unambiguous fact the America First! crowd should have celebrated, but chose not to for some reason. To acknowledge that everyday Americans were being hurt by inflation, but the trends were moving in a positive direction is neither bulls#!t or gaslighting.

You know perfectly well that as of last week, Republicans will use the same economy and the same numbers to declare American turning a corner under Trump's leadership.

Talk about gaslighting.

You are correct and we agree.

We should also agree that one main reason for this was the U.S. not being in as big of an economic hole during the pandemic because we as a country began to open up sooner with CA and NY/Northeast being the main holdouts.   We were positioned for a faster recovery.

To acknowledge that everyday Americans were being hurt by inflation, but the trends were moving in a positive direction is neither bulls#!t or gaslighting.
The Administration was telling the American public that inflation wasn’t an issue, as inflation continued to rise.   They tried to gaslight everyone into believing it wasn’t a big deal, that it would recover quickly and not get as bad as it got.

Sadly, I agree. Every chance that Biden and Kamala had to acknowledge and then spin, they would routinely fail to acknowledge and jump straight to spinning.

Trump teed her up perfectly in the debate to get on top of this messaging, where some simple sentiment along the lines of Guy's post would have crushed, and instead she just started with a talking point about growing up as a middle class girl. The pivot was obvious, and to many damning, when it didn't have to be.

While I think that’s the most rational, best case they could’ve made, I don’t think that would’ve crushed as you said. People were pissed and in a throw out the bums mood. While true, this argument was just another flavor of minimizing people’s concerns and I don’t think it would’ve been well received.

That said, they did just about everything they could’ve done to drag it back down. They avoided the wild, impulsive micromanaging Trump would’ve done. They navigated labor disputes. JPow successfully negotiated a soft landing. And Trump, being the lucky motherf#&%er that he is, is going to waltz in and take all the credit. Unfortunately many people will believe him. The only question is how many of his pro-inflationary policies he follows through on and how that affects things. He’s being gifted a pretty damn good starting point.

People might not like the answer that inflation is cyclical , but it’s a stone cold fact. I don’t need to care whether people like that answer because I’m not running for office. Bad fiscal policy can worsen it and vice versa. They successfully pulled the levers they had access to and rode it out.

There is no winning strategy when 70 million people are willing to vote for a convicted felon, who was already in office once and was a disaster.

The electorate knows everything there is to know about this guy and they chose him anyway. Nothing Harris or the Democrats could have done would change that.

People are selfish, the economy and inflation absolutely do have an impact, and people know things are more expensive than they were a couple years ago.

Most people never felt a personal, tangible effect of him being a disaster.

All people felt a personal, tangible effect of inflation.

Just how it goes.

I'm trying to imagine a nuanced and accurate assessment of the economy not being stripped of context and turned into a gotcha meme admitting the Biden administration had failed.

Harris could have handled this much better and more honestly, for sure. But I don't see it winning her anything.

@Apsu and @Loe Doesnt Know can straight up go f#&% themselves. They are exhibit A and exhibit B of what is wrong in this country. Just for Loe’s sake I hope the army of Trump morons does cut veterans benefits. He can stick his “service” square up his a$$. Those two fųckers do nothing more than waste our air. I look forward to the day they no longer do.

+1000 if I could. We’re in total agreement on all that. Also my head cannon is now that they were going to lose anyway so I’m not going to sweat the small stuff.

But fixing their messaging is and has been the primary goal for the immediate future. The agenda is mostly popular but they can’t sell it to most voters for beans. Republicans are greasy as hell but boy to they know how to get people to buy in to some absolute dog water.

The election did lure some of our most illustrious trollers out of their self-censored silence.

Defender AO. Loe Doesn't Know. Apsu.

Sometimes they just blur into the same bowl of vomit.

But in this case I'm talking about Loe.
Talk about opening their mouth and confirming how stupid they are. I'm honestly really enjoying these dips#!ts' posts - it's comically idiotic.
