  1. In Wyoming, coal is accepted more frequently at stores than cash or credit cards. Just curious. How big of a surplus does the Nebraska state government carry at this moment? Right now, Wyoming has several billion dollars in the bank. The Hathaway Scholarship Fund pays for total tuition cost for Wyoming students who graduate high school with a B average or better. For those of you who are travelling to the game, take a tour around campus and you'll see a bunch of new buildings and others under construction. As Wyoming's only university, UW is very well supported. So, in a sense we do pay with coal, gas and oil, and we're damn happy about it. Take the tour: http://www.uwyo.edu/uw/tour/
  2. Devaney stills holds the best winning percentage of any Wyoming coach. From his staff came Lloyd Eaton who built on Devaney's success and got Wyoming into the 1967 Sugar Bowl and a No. 5 finish in the polls. He had players like Jim Kiick, Dave Hampton, Vic Washington and Larry Nels, who all went into the NFL. Eaton then went on to screw it up with his mismanagement of the Black 14 incident in 1969.
  3. Are you talking about the one in the middle. We still have it I hope you are still using the helmets in the middle, because those are really awesome. Should use those plus brown jerseys + brown pants. I'm frankly shocked that Nike didn't force Wyoming to wear helmets molded in the shape of a 10-gallon hat or add saddle logos to the backs of their jerseys. Wyoming classic jerseys and helmets are great--here's hoping we see those Saturday. You will. They announced this morning it will be the traditional white helmet, brown jerseys and gold pants. Thank God.
  4. I don't care if Wyoming went undefeated the next three years. The big money boys would never let Wyoming sniff such a thing. Not enough eyeball and TV sets.

  7. West of Laramie in the Snowy Range and East of Laramie in the Medicine Bow National Forest. There's a lot of fly fishing opportunities. Give these guys a call. The West Laramie Fly Store will give you the inside scoop. http://flystore.net/
  8. The official game notes release of the UW Athletic Department. There's 56-pages of EVERYTHING you'd want to know about the game. http://grfx.cstv.com...20110920aaa.pdf"
  9. Hopefully the field will be painted yellow as well That's a Boise State move.
  10. There's a "Gold Rush" declared for that day, so I suspect they'll be going the all yellow route. Yikes, thats even worse I think they'll be wearing the all yellow uniform that is front and center below

  13. It's a bit early for blizzard whiteout conditions, but we've played in that kind of weather many times. Two years ago, we had to postpone the game a couple of hours so New Mexico could make it over the summit from Cheyenne. As a freshman, we got to the stadium early to save seats for our fraternity brothers. One game there was so much snow in the stands we made "snow fans" on the seats and they were scattered among the student section. Read Steve Young's autobiography, he has a nice, and unflattering, memory of playing in bad Laramie weather while at BYU. For this Saturday it's supposed to be partly cloudy with a high of 74 degrees and a low of 44. The game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. local, so it will be in the mid 60s, I'd guess, by halftime. That's hilarious. Are there any pictures of that? I wish there were. In 1972 we could only dream about camera phones.

  15. They don't want to take that chance. Things could get pretty sh#tty. Even I had to rep that...
  16. We love our colors precisely because everyone else hates them. Unfortunately, we let Nike in the door and this is what they've done to us this year. I don't know what combination they'll be wearing for the game... The 9-11 helmet. There's not a damn thing we haven't heard about our colors, so don't even waste your time. The colors are the colors and the whole world can kiss our ass. I think the flat black helmet with black logo looks pretty badass actually. I wish Nebraska would do some special event uniforms. If they did, the West Stadium Grayhairs would self-implode They're flat brown actually. But yeah, even an old die hard like me will admit that they don't look too bad.
  17. Yawn. There hasn't been an original comment about our uniforms in 50 years. Don't waste your time. The colors are the colors and the rest of the world can kiss our ass.

  19. I'm sorry, that's an Aggie, so you must be confusing us with Colorado State. They be the sheep.
  20. It's only a matter of time before you post this one, so I'll save you the trouble. Meet Gabe Knapton, Wyoming defensive end and part time lumberjack... Man, just beat me to it!

  22. HC Dave Christensen, having come from Missouri as their OC is certainly familiar with Nebraska. He told the Wyoming media the other day that his players are really excited about playing the Huskers. "Basically, we have nothing to lose," he said. His problem is keeping his kids from getting too high. When Texas came to Laramie in 2009, the Longhorns were initially taken aback by how aggresive the Wyoming players were. It took them a half to get on track. The Longhorn's defense started to have it's affect in the second half, basically shutting the Poke's offense down and giving McCoy and company great field position in the second half. Our D couldn't defend a short field and the Longhorns had their way the rest of the game. Ironically, this year's team is way better on offense and our defense is having it's issues in the secondary.
