  1. They have grandiose egos but mediocre heart. Knapplc, you and I have had some disagreements, but I'll give you this: This comment by you was one of the best of the year.
  2. Hey. I heard this in 2011, 2012, 2013 and what do know I've heard in 2014 now. Btw Osborne was losing to Oklahoma 17-7 not 73-45 or getting lucky and beating a FCS team 31-24. But what is your plan? Trash Pelini for the rest of the season? Let's get behind the man until season's end.
  3. If we have a Callahan-like collapse in mid-season, then I'd be happy to see Pelini go. However, we shouldn't threaten to fire the guy the second we have a close game. Why is that so unrealistic? Let the season play itself out. If he sucks, he's gone. If we support him and he does well, let's keep him.
  4. If Bo goes 7-5, then I'll reconsider. However, the man is 2-0. Didn't half the world crucify NU for firing Solich with a similar track record? Oh yeah, didn't this same "best fans in America" fan base repeatedly ask for Tom Osborne's head on a platter? Why don't we support Pelini for the whole year, then evaluate at year's end. Just an idea.
  5. Totally agree with the original poster. It's pretty pathetic that people were ready to annoint Pelini king last week, and now want his head on a platter. If we don't switch the attitudes, NU will lose Pelini (who we actually need) and grab the next flavor of the month, and slip further. It's really sad to see people turn on this staff so quickly. Sad to say, but our fan base is no longer any different from any other fan base.
  6. I'll get scorched for writing this, and I'm sure that Knapplc will lock this thread (as he does when he's in a bad mood - - so much for freedom of speech), but I am amazed at the quitting spirit of the fans. One bad game and people are ready to throw Bo and Beck (and themselves) off the highest bridge in Nebraska (which, thankfully, is only about 3 stories tall). Seriously. We are still 2-0. It's funny how we pat ourselves on the back for being the classiest fans in college football all week, but, the second we have some adversity, it's time to execute coaches and people who dare to post a contrary opinion. No wonder Bo threw us under the bus last year. We are the most bi-polar fans alive. We talk sweet nothings to Bo for the last six months ("Bo and his cat - - awesome"), then stab him in the neck the second we have a bad game. Let's get behind our team and encourage them, rather than killing our coaches. Yes, we sucked today. But, you know what? We won. You know what else? We actually have good players (cue for sarcastic references to lousy coaching). You know what else? In 1993, a totally sucky Kansas team went for 2 points at the end of the game and almost beat us. If this had happened when we had the internet, half this board would have been calling for TO's head. After that game, we brushed it aside and went undefeated, finally getting jobbed 18-16 by FSU. The point is that you keep fighting no matter how bad you feel. We won today and are still undefeated. We can grow from this experience. As a fan base, we need to stop tearing our coaching staff to pieces. Let's get behind them. We may lose 4 games this year. We might lose none. We don't know. There's an old saying, "I have suffered a great many tragedies in my life: a few which have actually come true." Until the wheels actually fall off the wagon, let's work on fortifying the wagon, rather than tearing it apart.
  7. I had to drive to Barstow today (which is in the middle of the desert) from San Diego to pick up my mother-in-law. I figured I had nothing to worry about. Man, was I wrong (i.e., about the game. My mother-in-law is cool). I literally did not see or hear a single down. When I got home, I was floored by the score. Can one of our best posters give me an offensive and defensive summary. The more detailed the better. How was the o-line? Who was good? Who sucked? Why? Why did Ameer only have 9 carries? How was Tommy? How was the D-line? Who did well? Who didn't? Linebackers? DBs? Can one person seriously give me a detailed analysis? Please, no one-liners like "Bo sucks" or 'the offensive stunk," rather, I want a true football scholar to break down the nuts and bolts. Is anybody up for this?
  8. I love this board. I totally love the sarcasm that we can throw around. It's all in good fun. I can't tell you how many times in the last week someone would dismiss my predictions, reciting the fact that I had predicted that we would beat FAU 24-10. The comment would be ,"Wait, aren't you the guy who said we'd only beat FAU 24-10?" Truly funny stuff. I never take it personally. Well, yesterday, I was hit with an epiphany: I said that McNeese State was actually going to be a tough test. Everybody laughed it off (which was not unrealistic). Boy, was I surprised to end up being right about this one. I was not able to watch or listen to the game today, as I had to drive out to the desert to pick up my mom (I'm in San Diego). No radio reception. Just got back to town, turned on my computer, and saw that we barely pulled it out. Holy moly. I'd prefer to be wrong from now on!
  9. They beat South Florida last year 53-21. The same South Florida that lost at Michigan State 21-6. South Florida is traditionally a tough team. For them to get absolutely spanked by McNeese State shows that McNeese State is not just showing up to collect a paycheck.
  10. Agree. We totally need to have a killer instinct. I think this will come as we continue to win. This is our year.
  11. Wow, I'm trying to be optimistic and get excited about something and everybody is down. Bummer. All the years of losing has drained a lot of the optimism of our fan base. Nonetheless, I will stand by my prediction that this year is special. Very good things are going to happen.
  12. It's nice to care about ratings once again. We are getting good enough to the point that we actually care what is happening in other games. Reminds me of a story that Bill Snyder told. Shortly after coming to KSU, he started a radio program. After a period of time, people would call in and complain. His response was that it was nice to have people complaining as it showed they cared. It's nice that we actually care how all of the other dominos are fitting together as we might has a spot at the table. Very nice.
  13. Okay but that's wrong. Oh, you mean that there are two universities in South Dakota? My bad!
  14. NuPolo, love your comments. A few responses: 1. UC Davis or San Jose State. Both suck. 2. You're right about the Tim Rattay point. 3. I did say that Oregon played "South Dakota State." (I at least got something right). 4. Yes, a victory over FAU is tantamount to 62-24. Take it to the bank, baby!
  15. Forget the crappy polls. This is the real top 10. Please note that this top 10 is based upon week one. Kinda like determining the top ten hitters after hitting in games for one week. I am not trying to prognosticate who ultimately will be number one. Rather, these were the ten best teams this past weekend. Since there was no previous top 10, why shouldn't these teams be rated in this order? Without further ado, here is the real top 10: 10. Auburn. Good, solid, 45-21 win over Arkansas. 9. Stanford. 45-0 over a patsy. However, they barely beat the same patsy last year.Things are on the way up. 8. Oklahoma. Jumped to 31-3 halftime lead on always pesky La-Tech, and coasted to victory. 7. Oregon. Throttled South Dakota State. 6. LSU. Houdini victory over Wisconsin. Typical daredevil victory by 'the hat." 5. Nebraska. Looked like the Huskers of old on both sides of the ball. Score would have been 82-10 if Husker had kept starters in longer. 4. USC. Obliterated Fresno State, who is always tough. 3. Baylor. 45-0. This team is on a mission. 2. Georgia. Georgia destroyed a good Clemson team. The only reason why Georgia is not number 1 is that they won at home, as opposed to on the road. 1. Texas A&M. Went into South Carolina and absolutely DESTROYED the number 9 team. Can't get better than this. Did you honestly expect to see FSU and Bama in the top 10? Did their play even remotely warrant a top 10 vote? No chance.
  16. You're getting way ahead of yourself there. Can you name a stat where Armstrong is better than Martinez? That was the problem with TM. Statistically, he looked great on paper. However, that never translated into real life greatness. Armstrong has a calmness and natural leadership to him that TM never EVER had. Heck, Armstrong is 8-1 as a starter. That's the only stat that matters and it's better than anything TM put up. I'm sure you know TM started 9-1, right? You just made my point. He put up great stats, and, yes, started 9-1, but OHHHHHH that one loss was brutally painful. He never recovered after his 9-1 start. Was an average QB with no legs after year one.
  17. I think you're smoking crack on this comment dude and I also think that cutting down the guy who owns almost every QB record in the book with this comment is wrong. Not trying to offend. Not one of those guys who feels loyalty to any particular camp. Just telling it like I saw it. Yeah, he piled on the stats, but it never helped the team. Let me ask you this: Did you EVER once hear a player talk about TM's leadership skills? Never. However, this fall, alone, multiple players have complimented Armstrong on his natural leadership abilities.

  19. Thanks for your medical opinion without having met, let alone examined, Gregory. I'm sure the view from your TV was much better than the MRI view the doctors have. I have a 3-D TV, so I could see better than the doctor.
  20. Shouldn't cost him a dime. He bought insurance for a reason. Not true. Insurance only covers him if he's completely injured and can't play. Insurance doesn't cover him if he recovers, but falls in the draft.
  21. Dude, your standards are low. He's already better than Martinez ever was. Also, he's a true leader with confidence. No comparison between him and TM.
