  1. Factual statements from my last post: "There is enough information available to reasonably speculate how Sarah Palin would have performed, and how Paul Ryan would be expected to perform. "His budget plan sucks." "He [Paul "Pinochio] is a pathetic liar." It was a good anology. This is primarily a football board, and anyone who witnessed last weekend's game was left dumbfounded by the offensive playcalling in the second half. In case you missed it after Obama's election, key Republican leadership had declared that their task was to work against him to make sure that he wasn't reelected. And you think ass-u-me that that type of person would be a good addition to an administration?
  2. Sorry, I thought that was common knowledge. I will have to wait till tonight to pull up some links.
  3. There is enough information available to reasonably speculate how Sarah Palin would have performed, and how Paul Ryan would be expected to perform. 1) His budget plan sucks. 2) He is a pathetic liar. That would be like having the UCLA defensive coordinator call our offensive plays last week. In fact I believe that I just stumbled onto the cause of our offensive woes. Now, why do you believe that it would be a good idea?
  4. Personally at the moment, no. I would be interested to hear what your acquainteces think. Why do you believe that the Iranians helped us with our invasion of Afghanistan?
  5. Everyone knows they have nukes, and the Sampson Option is also known by many. What the Iranian concern is is that they do not want western spies acting as inspectors. Israel would not accept Iranian spies in their nuclear sites.
  6. Those are not pro-Iranian, they are common sense. By complying they would be surrendering to a foreign power. That is not going to happen, which makes he demand unrealistic. I am ashamed that the nation of Israel is our ally. Iran is only our enemy because we insist they be.
  7. The agenda of both sides is similar, other than on social issues. "By design", I meant that both the Ds and Rs support a similar pro-corporate (banker, etc) agenda that we see as a lack of progress. What alternative economic agenda would you propose? Increase corporate regulations, and eliminate conflicts of interests by people who write the regulations. Campaign finance reform. Eliminate media monopolies. Single payer health care. Return to Clinton era taxation levels.
  8. There's that, and the consensus that Sarah Palin was waaay over her head and a loon. There is also the perception that the Ryan budget would be a disaster fot this nation. Why would that be good?
  9. I have been opposed to our foreign policy toward Iran of "EVERY SINGLE PRESIDENT since the Shah was deposed". 1) "Opposition to Terrorism" means that Iran cut its military ties with all alligned militias that are on its border, and allow these militias to fall under the control of hostile foreign forces. In addition we support terrorism inside Iran. 2) "Nuclear Program" means allowing western intelligence agents inside their facilities. I guess this wouuld be reasonable if Israel agreed to a similar gesture.
  10. The agenda of both sides is similar, other than on social issues. "By design", I meant that both the Ds and Rs support a similar pro-corporate (banker, etc) agenda that we see as a lack of progress.
  11. Hopefully Hollywood wil create an "Infomercial" category, so they are no longer labelled as documentaries. When you said "people think", I do not believe that they do think for themselves.
  12. It comes down to... does anyone going to a Michael Moore film believe that they are getting the "real story". Perhaps so (the Ed Schultz audience), but I am biased by my own desire to research sources.
  13. The "no results" is by design, and won't be fixed until we enact real campaign finance reform.
  14. Both of the two preconditions are known to be non-starters as they are defined by our expectations. And since when has aggressive diplomacy been seen as a sign of weakness (this is an open question to anyone)?
  15. Michael Moore's films have been better described as mockumentaries than documentaries. Does anyone go to a Michael Moore film and not understand this or what his bias is? Since Moore (in my opinion) does not make real documentaries, I defaulted to movies. Read through the six posts I listed, and in your words describe what you believe he wants to see in documentaries. I am a firm believer in 'know your source'. I don't expect honesty or lack of bias in anything political, but am greatly alarmed by the degree of dishonestly in our news media.
  16. You are incorrect about me "attempting to take his stance to absurd extremes". Count how many posts in this thread he has made that point a central theme of his argument. I counted six (posts 4, 12, 22, 26. 31 & 32). My points in this thread include: 1) All movies are biased in some way in how they present facts. 2) Sicko did highlight abuses by insurance companies. 3) Lefty humor is more popular than righty humor.
  17. http://www.iberkshir...eapons-ban.html I guess that is one reason to keep marijuana criminalized.
  18. Most people don't realize how hot the war was between Iran and the US in the 80s. It led to Iranian Hezbollah blowing up the marine barracks in Beirut, which led to the shooting down of Iran Air 655.
  19. Can you cite that (or anything resembling that) as a campaign promise? Either that, or people who listened to his actual words knew he was on the hawkish side. Which contradicts what you said above. Unfortunately many of the leaders in that region you mentioned are our allies.
  20. Other than movies, where else do you expect unbiased honesty?
  21. I tried welding, and was accused of using the stick as a torch.
  22. Yes, and you can go through the archives here to confirn it. I an mo fan of Obama/Biden/Hillary, but see them as less foul than McCain/Palin and Romney/Ryan. I clearly labelled Moore's films as "mocumentaries", with bias and with an agenda (see post #18). Then I said that Moore did a triage on facts, and talked about lefty fiction (see post #20). I am sorry if you were confused. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mockumentary http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sicko According to Sicko, almost fifty million Americans are uninsured while the remainder, who are covered, are often victims of insurance company fraud and red tape. Interviews are conducted with people who thought they had adequate coverage but were denied care. Former employees of insurance companies describe cost-cutting initiatives that give bonuses to insurance company physicians and others to find reasons for the company to avoid meeting the cost of medically necessary treatments for policy holders, and thus increase company profitability.
  23. Yes... France also led NATO in the regime change in Libya, and they are taking the European lead in NATO's rush to war in Syria. Perhaps you have a better feel for this, my take is that NATO is very pleased with the new regime in Tunisia. Egypt... not so much.
