  1. My sister was and is tremendously manipulative. She is alive but not part of my life. It is dangerous to project from my life thoughts and feelings onto the life of this woman (then child) and her judge father. But it is possible that the child, at 16, could have been manipulative enough that she instigated events to the point where her parents just snapped. I know this is possible because I witnessed it in my childhood. It is also very possible - and probably more likely - that the judge father was just an abusive a-hole who cowed his (then) wife into participating in the unwarranted belting of their child. The wife has since divorced the judge from what I understand. Stockholm Syndrome would explain her participation, or she could simply be an abuser herself, or simply misunderstood the situation. Again, there are a thousand possibilities. We know nothing truthful from that video. To throw out yet another possible caveat, it's possible that the daughter's choice to release this video has more to do with her parents' divorce than with the fact that her father was truly an abuser. It's possible she is choosing sides, and firing a salvo in mom's defense. The judge's response (see link above) supports some of what you are saying. Basically he said he was going to cut her off and this is revenge. I can't believe he thinks why she posted it is even relevant...or he'd even say why she posted it. It just makes him look like he's in denial and not being accountable. He's a giant douche canoe, that's why.
  2. Yeah, I was confused/worried by it... Like if my points dropped too low I got banned or something. Thanks!

  4. I have spanked my child. Only, maybe, five times. ONLY with my open hand, and only one time on a bare butt. I started early, when she was very little. I think there are people who, in a vacuum, would look at that and say I did wrong. But I have an excellent relationship with my child, and we are to the point where words alone do the trick. I hope they always work, because I doubt I'll ever spank my kid again. But here's the thing about this situation with this judge. The same parents who raised me and who extremely rarely used physical punishment on me had to contend with my hellion sister, for whom no discipline worked. There were times when my mother raised her hand to my sister when my sister was in her teens. Likely, today, mom would have landed in jail for what she did. There were fights, literally. But my sister deserved it. She egged them on. She took their correction and spat in their face. My parents were good people, who raised us with proper values. My sister shat all over those values for no discernible reason. She goaded my mom, especially, and fanned the flames of the situation. Even as a young kid, she was a very good manipulator. I don't think what my mom did was OK, but having lived with that POS of a sibling, I get why she did it. At some point, with some people (kids, I'm talking about) you just can't move forward. They decide, for whatever reason, that they will NOT be corrected. What do you do? I have no idea, and I hope I never find out with my child. My sister's behavior, her ridiculous choices, horrified my parents, and for the last 20 years of my mom's life, my sister was a chain around her neck. There are just some people you cannot deal with, who won't adhere to proper upbringing. That's why I reserve judgment on this Judge. The video is viscerally disturbing. But it is a few minutes' glimpse into their life. We have no idea what the dynamic of their lives are holistically based on this. I can guarantee you that if you saw some of the fights my mom and sister had, you would think my mother was a terrible person. But the truth, the sober, unvarnished truth, blinders off, is that she wasn't. My sister was. And continues to be. Who's to say, based on this video, that their family isn't like mine? how old is your sister now and how did she turn out? I was spanked as a kid but nothing violent. Just on the butt w/ an open hand maybe 1-3 spanks. I'm not sure what I'll do w/ my kids if I have any. I'll probably read up on the subject and then decide. I'm sure my wife would have some input too. That said, my gut feeling is that I won't spank as I tend to think it's just "the easy way". THAT said, I have a nephew and cousin that were VERY difficult kids growing up. My nephew would get in trouble just for the fun of it. I remember he was like 3 and he kicked my dad's 55" TV just to do it. I said..."Don't do that!" and he just smiled and did it again. I was like...WTF?? He's 13 now and oh man the stories on that kid...I'm just glad I'm not his parent. We tend to use natural consequences. But you do spank (rarely) for lying and all-out defiance - only after a timeout and an explanation. Sometimes, with my boys, I flick them in the back of the head if they are being defiant, but only once to get their attention.
  5. Interesting thoughts knapp and thanks for sharing your perspective. She is certainly now coming across as a manipulative person. But, what he did is never excusable IMO. And, it must have happened often for her to tape it. I understand what you are saying, I truly do, but I have a had time believing a child should be put through that.
  6. So, just so I can be clear you think that the sheer number of players have increased and therefore there are more opportunities for the Blackshirts to be given out? No, the sheer numbers hasn't increased... The number of players that should be consider starters has though. Against Northwestern, the starting defense will look very different than it did against Michigan State. Not because anyone was benched or isn't truly a starter, but because there is such a difference in personnel packages.
  7. I think college football is different than it was when Jason played. There tends to be a lot more specialist packages and roles... Dime, Nickel, Peso, 3-4 versus 4-3 depending on the situation, etc.
  8. There's a SOL on child abuse? Hmm...I'm thinking there shouldn't be so sucks if there is. http://www.cnn.com/2011/11/03/justice/texas-video-beating/index.html?hpt=hp_c1 Even worse, check out what the judge has to say: http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2011/images/11/03/judge.adams.statement.pdf
  9. I agree, but according to cnn last night, statue of limitations says he doesn't get it. Hopefully he gets voted out of office, disbarred, and sued in civil court.
  10. Technically the definition of Christian is one who professes belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ. Sometimes also called Christ followers. Only God Himself can judge the heart.
  11. Yeah, it seems that most of our troops will be redeployed in the gulf region. Perhaps they will be used to put down rebellions in the Saudi east, Yemen and Bahrain. And, a new kingdom will be established by the one world government in the post-apocolypse world..?
  12. Sub--Sorry to hear that you won't be posting at the MAX anymore. Puegot--You can't stop talking about me.

thank you, we have been lost.

  14. Kevin Williams and Jay Guy say hello. Dang, knew I would forget some folks!
  15. In my view the goals of OWS and the TP are diametrically opposed... with the goals of the TP being that of corporate America. Most OWS GAs will not take money from a George Soros or David Koch. The GAs are organizing and a unified platform is in the works, but this will take time for an organization that grew so fast. Unfortunately the ranks have been infiltrated by the types of thugs that we have seen in Denver and Oakland. I agree that the agendas are very different and that's fine. But, in terms of being a true activist group and organization, OWS needs to learn from groups that have successfully (for the most part) been able to define an agenda and keep out the riff-raff. Until they do that, the problems you're seeing in Denver, Oakland, and now Seattle are going to continue to grow.
  16. Dang, Calla nailed this... As Sub said we've been talking about this a lot at the other site. Calla put in much better words than I have. I agree that there are plenty of reasons to be frustrated right now and support this group's right to protest. But, unfortunately, in a leadership vacuum (like what exists with this movement) the more radical personalities tend to take over. I simply can't support a group that has started using the tactics this group is now using. In fact, they are terrorizing the other part of the 99% (those of that go to work every day) - tellers at banks, dock workers, operations people at Wall Street firms, etc. Frankly , this group could learn something about organization, leadership, and getting their message across from the Tea Party.
  17. This would be a mistake IMO. The U.S. military is simply stretched too thin to handle anything more than a limited airstrike (if even that). I thought we had a plan for how to deal with the Middle East now, seems like it's more destabalized than ever.
  18. 2013 should be a great year for us, our youth will be very experienced at that point too. Martinez will be a Sr, the Fr3 will be Juniors, our secondary will be Jr and Sr laden. Peat and Rome on the D-Line. Hopefully our linebackers will have a great recruiting class this year. Love it HiSD!
  19. Yes, what you do mean? I shouldn't have joined another board or do you think I said something bad in my post? I just think there was no reason to take a shot at the guys on HuskerMAX. Yeah, you had some issues with a few of them, but it ended well with others. That's all.
  20. Puegot--You are wandering in the wilderness looking and seeking... Trying to fill that void, don't fear The messiah is out there with his light shining. You ran from him once, but he's waiting with open arms for you.
  21. How long before Austin ends up suspended over here too?
  22. Cactus--You ended pretty well at HP, should have left it at that buddy.
  23. Austin--Can you give an example of how you can see the frustration setting in with A. Green?
  24. It was one game - I'll get more worked up if he doesn't play this Saturday.
