OH MY GOD. 6 hours ago people were talking about getting a win against Michigan possibly bcs bowl. Now we're gonna lose out and cant compete with top 25 teams? Get a grip. I am just giving my opinion on what I saw out there today, I unfortunately have a pretty good grip on the team I think. Iowa is a must win game and at this point it is a toss up...they are not a top 25 team either. I wish I could be more positive, but it is what it is. This team is so bi-polar. Playing good one week and stinking it up the next. I think we will beat Iowa just based on the roller coaster we are on. Just like its fans....no offense intended but holy sh#t does the attitude of this board change from week to week. Two weeks ago, "The Sky is falling!", last week "BCS Bowl here we come"...now "rabble rabble rabble...kill Bo, run the team out of town etc" The sky isn't falling, there have been signs all year that our defense is subpar up front and really at every level....We might have received a break playing PSU when we did, and Ohio State losing their QB was definitely a shot in the arm in that game...At the end of the day though we have to be competitive, if not there will be unrest at NU. We NEED to win VS. Iowa that is a MUST win game now IMO. One thing I found interesting was today during our game, which was at the same time as Wisconsin's, your name was on the bottom as following our game thread...I take it you don't follow Wisconsin's games as closely as ours, just curious on that?

The fact that we use the back 7 to cover results in very tough duty for a DL without the 4.6 speed DE we currently don't have on our roster! Couple that with no DT over 300# and we get pushed around in the middle on double teams with ease which creates even more lanes for the QB. It is something we have not figured out yet, but next week we have a much better matchup as Vandenburgh is not too mobile and is a pocket type passer. The bad news is they have a battering ram at RB, a decent OL, and a difference maker at WR, and a decent TE to keep us honest. It won't be easy and if we win it will be a close one, hopefully we can recover from a crushing loss that we played as poorly as I can remember in several phases of the game.

Guys like Osborne, Cooper, Smith, and Jackson need to step up, and we have to hope that Santos and maybe Zaire can come in and make an immediate impact. We also need to see some depth at LB, the cupboard is not bare but these guys are getting minimal experience and it does not bode well for next year, but it is possible we will have a more athletic 11 guys in the fold minus Dennard and David who will be HUGE holes to fill.

Winner. Ranking hasn't mattered since the Northwestern loss. Ranking matters to the players and the fans, we want to end the season ranked I would definitely disagree with this 100%!

To be fair, something significant happened in between then and now: we got manhandled by a quarterback who has thrown 14 interceptions this year, averages only 45 yards rushing per game, and a defense that just came off probably the worst year of the program in the past half century. +1

If NU wins next week. 9-3 won't be sitting in the Insight Bowl. Nu will be playing in Florida in January at 9-3 But for the first part of your I post I agree. Throw in a new League and opponents there was a lot on the plate. I think its legtimate we fall to the Insight Bowl. Especially if the BigTen doesnt get 2 BCS bids. Bowls love teams with momentum. Insight bowl would give us a chance to play a team we could compete with, and I hope we win out!

I give this post a standing ovation. +1 For the record I never said we would lose out...someone obviously needs to get a grip other then me...but I don't see us being favored against a Top 25 team right now...that is my opinion. I wish I could see otherwise.

agreed....we either need to simplify the defense or we need to suffer thru mistakes and make up for that with better athletes on the field...as it is now we are looking at a second tier defense at best next year with very few young guys getting experience. I would guess we go down a notch next year without any of the big 3....very few playmakers on the roster at all for 2012 on defense.

We are not a top 25 team, and we proved that again today.

Sadly if we play any team in the top 25 chalk up another L in our bowl game, and Iowa will give us as much as we can handle...and they are not that good either.
