  1. Ok, that was a freaking awesome think fast play....and a fake, damn.
  2. It's alright, I have a bad feeling about every game.
  3. Still a long game Badgerfan, might come down to mistakes. On the last drive looks like our defense showed up, but anything can happen at this point.
  4. Gentlemen that 4th and 1 call took some balls
  5. Looks like the defense training clones are on the field by mistake.
  6. Yea pretty much the same as the last game.
  7. Its a good thing for you that the Big Ten referees are terrible!!! Heh, reading this board it seems all referees worldwide have an everlasting conspiracy against the ultra disciplined Huskers. Seriously I have never seen so much complaining(making excuses) about the refs by any other teams fan base. Makes me wonder if those big12 complaints were valid. As far as the game today, good job Ohio, your down but played a hell of a game against us. I think Wolverine forgot we dropped 7 in a row, but let him have he's moment. No, I am just saying that the play calling by the referees overall in the Big Ten STINKS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL. Probably the worst referee play calling in the NCAA when it comes to football. It wasn't the refs who forced TOSU not to tackle DRob!!!But, we Husker fans know how uninformed some other teams fans are of things like these. Just an observation buddy, don't get your panties in a bunch, YOU WON! Whats wining against OSU have to do with my comment regarding the alleged avalanche of bad calls? I think judging by the caps your panties might be a bit tight sport. But I'm glad you are a professional and an expert that can share he's insight with the rest of us. Maybe next season you can grace us with your presence on the field and make things right. And yes this thread is going down the drain.
  8. Bit of a self destruct by MU is how they won. But watching MU play Iowa since the 80's, it just happens, it's always tough for us going there on the road.

  10. Bit overly dramatic there, why would you pay them if there is a playoff? College hoops has it without being the NBA and they create a heck of a lot of drama. As is we have a computer making the match ups, yea a computer makes power rankings, it takes into consideration all those stats that are on paper and rankings, ranking that are wrong from the beginning and only stats that are input into its program, while ignoring the human factor. Why do we bother even playing the season anyway, just rank the teams based on the how many stars the new recruits have and how many starters are returning, 1 to 25 all in a manner of seconds. Yes I can be overly dramatic too.
  11. Yikes!, well that pretty much screws the BCS.
  12. Not sure about any thinly veiled insult you are talking about, or some conspiracy to give out some trophy. Now about the there is no way to have a playoff without ruining the bowl system part. Yes exactly get rid of it, the bowls time has passed a long time ago, it's a money grab for those who have rights to it, they could care less about the game, it's simply there to maintain their grip on the purse. You could still give each tier of a playoff game a bowl name for the sake of the tradition, but for me at least considering how long these bowls have kept college football backwards I could care less. As far as that Nebraska season, like I said it's irrelevant how good they were(and they were good), games are played, not voted on. I could just see this in the NFL, sorry Patriots but you have one more loss then Indy and Green bay so clearly you would never win the superbowl.....what? Lets see what happens if OSU or LSU looses one this season, who is going to get to play for this championship?I guess will find out from a handful of voters and a computer, that's not much of a tradition to me.
  13. No, I'm not "just glad that the system allowed", hell even if I was it wouldn't be in such a sheepish conformist way as you describe, it was meaningless as the system then and now is absurd. You say Nebraska was the best, I say it was not, every other Nebraskan here will say they were, on a MU site they will say our D would have killed you....all meaningless, the game never happened. I'm not sure if you are a fan of football or just Nebraska, as I cant see how anyone can justify voting for who gets to play in the big game, just the fact that we are discussing who was better attests to what a failure it is.
  14. "It's not our fault that at the time the Big 10 and Pac 10 were locked into a Rose Bowl tie-in and the Rose Bowl wouldn't join in so that a true National Championship could be crowned" And hence why the system was a half baked farce then and continues to be to this day. There are no champions until there is actually a playoff like in every major team sport in the world. You or me can rationalize and bang our fists on how great and invincible our team is, but in the end it's all hot air. Comparing two different games is pointless as many of the variables and match ups are quite different depending on the teams involved. Michigan beats NW, you loose to NW, by this logic you should loose to Michigan, heck you should not even be allowed to play them as clearly you are the inferior team, except that Nebraska imo has a bigger chance of winning that game then MU. As the saying goes....."that's why they play the games", except in college ball.
  15. Because he plays at Michigan. You guys are going to get sick of the attention that they, along with the Bucks, get. Get tired? That ship has already sailed. I GOT tired back in `97 when the media (mostly ABC/ESPN) kept shoving Charles Woodson at us, when Peyton Manning was clearly the one who deserved the Heisman that year. Based on the highlights that I had to watch each week I would have sworn that Woodson had run back about 20 punts for TDs...come to find out it was only 1. And the way they tried to screw Nebraska out of our national championship and give it to Michigan...in fact it still pisses me off that the media gave them half of it. But at least we got the big trophy and they got the little fish-hack plaque. Woodson was recognized for he's defensive ability not punt returns and is still a hell of a good player in Green Bay and frankly it was good to see a defensive player get the Heisman for once. As far as "the national lets pretend there is a championship in college football" we felt Nebraska was trying to screw us out of it, but will never know as these things get settled by votes and computers and not on the field.
  16. @metthew_m_g Unfortunately I don't think it was he's call to make. The politics in these schools create a clear chain of command and it's not a coaches place to make a call regarding an employee of the University, the top brass makes that decision and they failed. They probably told him it was handled and taking on a whole school for something they are primarily responsible is not necessarily a good idea(things don't usually end well for whistle blowers no matter how good their intentions). Having said that, yes on a human level, it's something he should have fought for at least, maybe he did maybe he didn't we wont know until this goes to court and more details come out.
  17. Yea, way over the top. Suddenly he is a one dimensional man treated as if he actually took advantage of kids. He reported to he's superiors whatever was told to him and they did nothing about it. Sometimes you are a cog in the wheel, sometimes you just don't get involved, sometimes you make a bad decision not to get involved, but seriously despite being a popular coach, something he lived and breathed he did not run Penn State and he's focus was not likely to be the campus cop.
  18. Badgerfan, I don't think "Woody" is a leet kiddie, but he does have some issues. See I can spell Ohio, O h i o, but he has some irrational hatred for Michigan, the word is like garlic to a vampire. I don't know if it's the Ohio/Michigan war in the 1800's, they got Toledo we got upper peninsula so win win anyway, or the three times in the last 20 they went unbeaten into the last game and lost, or some Michigan hikers trampled he's begonias. Hes not the first like that I've met though. Several years ago I worked in a car dealership and needed a trade, called a manager in Ohio, he asked where I was calling from, told him, first words were I hate F'ing Michigan(at least he could speak the word). Well in the end I got the car, after all there were some great games, cant have them without the other team. The only other team hated here by another as much seems to be Nebraska, I was reading a Hawkeye forum and dear God, it was pure poison, what did you guys do to them? As far as the Big 10, it has defense but inconsistent offense. I suspect not the best of outings in the bowl season simply because the defense will spend to much time on the field. Then again watching highlights from other divisions many of the teams seem to have no defense. In the end one thing is constant(watched big 10 for over 30 years), it is hard as hell to get through this division unbeaten and certainly one wont just roll through decisively, there will be many close calls if you do manage. As far as Big not doing well in Bowl's, yea, the last decade has been mediocre, though certain teams do better then others, I used to take the 80's and 90's wins for granted, now I would really like to see us get back, if only to shut the SEC crowd up. Though 4 of our teams do have winning records against them in the last 20, this includes you Nebraska I believe. But in the end we never did give much of a crap about the whole BCS scam(for me at least there has never been a championship, sorry Nebraska fans), until the late 70's no BIG 10 team was even allowed to go to a Bowl game, unless it was the Rose bowl, so even at 9-1 you would sit the bowls out if another won the Big 10. Enjoy the games, they will be tense no matter what. O yea in the end, been reading here for a couple months and it looks like a really good place to be. I got to tell you guys, when I heard Nebraska is joining I did a "whoooa that is awesome". I remember watching you guys since early 80's and there was something that always drew me to the games. I do like traditions, that's why I will watch Alabama or Nebraska with a 8-3 record over Boise state with a 11-0, also I like the seemingly improbable teams. I mean you are a fairly low population state with what is considered a small tv market, yet here you are, one of the greats, you are sort of like my Green Bay Packers of college football. Cheers and have a good time guys!(except in Michigan).
