1. "If it was, Army and Navy would be playing for the national championship every year." -- Bobby Bowden, asked whether discipline was the key to winning This game is one of the highest on my bucket list to attend in person someday. The records never matter and it means more then just two football rivals playing. I can't wait.
2. As a season ticket holder, who would your rather watch play in Lincoln every other year, Penn State or Indiana?
3. Well you certainly seem to be confused, Frank Solich coaches Ohio. It's pretty easy to get Ohio and Ohio State mixed up. Oh wait, that's not true, Ohio is the team with 3 more wins this year, my bad.
4. BTN had a little highlight clip from this season of Ball the other night and most of the holes he had to run through my grandma could have got 10 yards out of it. He is good but didn't have to work half as hard to get what he did compared to Rex. If you were a coach and got to have one one your team, I would take Rex every time.
5. If this nation has reduced itself to having its police force react brutally to passive citizen resistance, then we have become as uncivil as the nations we have criticized. Some of the UC Davis police officers were thugs, and should be prosecuted. blocking police cars isn't passive resistance. Statement FAIL!
6. The 11 students (mostly girls) did not break any laws. The quad at UC Davis is a public area. No permits are required to sit anywhere. During nice weather, students sit everywhere, including where the students were pepper sprayed. By the time the students were pepper sprayed, the tents were gone. So, the students broke no law and did not resist an illegal assault. The videos give a true and accurate portrayal of what happened. Davis resident here! Unfortunately for these Davis students, they were blocking a police car. When they were told to move, they locked arms. That, according to police procedure, is the end of a non-violent protest. Probably should have researched that little factoid. Having said that I was quite glad to be in Hawaii instead of home when all that crap hit. My wife, a Davis teacher as well. Locking arms is an act of violence according to Davis police procedures? If true . . . wowza. So what would you do if you walked out the door to leave and there was a group of people with locked arms all around your car? and don't say call the cops! Go sing Kumbaya with them?
7. If you think this inquiry is anything but political charade we will have to agree to disagree. Justice for Brian Terry is not what they are after. Also, you must be just as incensed about the thousands of guns legally purchased in the US and then smuggled into Mexico where they were used in gang killings right? You aren't inconsistent about that are you? http://www.guardian....s?newsfeed=true I've lived in Ciudad Juarez and have had police officers for neighbors, and I know a bit about the flow of weapons into Mexico from the US. Of course if you are truly concerned about the flow of weapons, then you agree that we need to cut out where they are getting the cash for the weapons in the first place right? Drugs pay for the weapons.
8. Perhaps we should not have allowed so many American arms to flow south into Mexico. I'm all for a real solution, not a token effort to hit a few convenient targets. 100% agree.
9. If the witch hunters can't find a single document proving that Holder knew about the operation then they must be just as incompetent as they claim he is. But they didn't have the chance to hide the documents so that point is invalid.

You aren't inconsistent about that are you? http://www.guardian....s?newsfeed=true Absolutely! You would be quite surprised about my views on the Second Amendment and how I think it is completely outdated and what types of guns should even be legal here. I see no reason why anyone in this country needs anything more in a gun that you have to pull the trigger for every shot. Any kind of military grade assault rifles, gone. Anything automatic or even semi-auto should be illegal for a private citizen to have, IMO. If this was the case your story that you linked would be completely invalid here. Nobody would want to smuggle our sucky guns. Does anyone here think that we can get a militia together with some M-16's and overthrow the government? Now a days they have things called tanks, F-22 raptors and Nukes. They would win. People need simple guns if they want to protect themselves or hunt that's it but I don't know if our country will ever get to that point. And yea, I know this is all political but that doesn't mean people aren't accountable and that's the sad thing from the left on this is they truly and blindly believe that nobody is accountable. I wonder how many other people these guns have killed? I wonder how many they will kill in the future?
11. I see no way how Holder can come out of this looking good. If he is covering up stuff that is bad but I don't think it is any worse then if he truly didn't know about and was that clueless. I'd say is guilty either way. Obama, not so much. I wouldn't expect the President to be up to date on every operations like this, but Holder, not sure how he doesn't lose his job either way from this. Oh yea, I do know how he wouldn't lose his job, politics!
12. I'm sure the family of dead agent Brian Terry would agree with the sentiment here that this is a witch hunt and nobody should be held accountable. Way to go guys, way to go.
13. I'm assuming/hoping the white seating will be a pit area for the students to go crazy? If this thing can hold 16-18K they better darn well make sure that student section is packed, even if they have to sell the tickets for $1. The student section is expressly designed for STANDING........................so your wishes should be fulfilled................. That sounds amazing! Yes, this is excellent to hear. I have never been a fan of how they changed the student seating at the Bob so the students only have the area behind the buckets. Some of you may remember that the students had seating on the sides as well and filled it up for conference games. That place could get really loud when it needed to be. Now if we could just get the students back down to field level in Memorial Stadium....but that's for another thread.
14. While I can never root for a NU loss, it would have been better for the program if we did lose. A loss like this is the only way TO would even think of getting rid of Doc. Sans a single digit win season, Doc will unfortunately be back since we just got the new facilities and TO likes Doc. I don't get it. We get rid of Doc who the hell are we going to bring in that's going to do better? You really think nobody could do a better job then Doc? I like Doc. I think he has good work ethic as a coach. Seems like a good person but I have seen enough and have no reason to believe he is going to take us to the level that we should be. We have the practice facility. We will have the arena. We have the conference. There is no reason you can't succeed here now. I have seen nothing from Doc to make me believe he will ever be able to bring in the caliber of players to take us beyond what we are now. I have more or less given up on him, but if he can someway find a way to go above .500 in the Big 10 and make the dance, I would give him a year but honestly, it's almost laughable to imagine us being that good after what I have seen so far. I'd love to see Doc prove me wrong because I think he is a good guy. Assuming Doc is gone, it's time to throw some serious money at a new coach either get a big name or go for the hot new coach and take basketball seriously. There is no reason that men's basketball shouldn't be a good money maker for the athletic department but you aren't going to do that paying a cheap coach to fill half the seats. Bill Self was at Tulsa and we wanted him but he chose to stay there instead. Then suddenly he was off to Illinois and then to Kansas and the rest is history. We should have did whatever it would have taken to get him here at the time. That's the kind of mentality we need now.

16. You wrap the youtube link as noted below: Thanks!
17. Ah crap, anyone care to teach me how to embed youtube on here?
18. Let's say a good quarter of ground produces 200 bushels per acre, 32K bushels x $7.50 would be about $240K. Of course you have to take out expenses but you would think when prices are this high at the worst case scenario I would think a farmer would clear $100K in profits on that quarter. Now imagine the farmer has 25 quarters and he could buy a couple more at these prices with cash on hand. You are right that the bubble probably would not be on bad land loans since there probably isn't a whole lot, but if corn would drop to $2.10, the operating costs remain high or most likely continue to get higher. Property values are still high and you are paying a very large amount or property taxes (I was looking online and a lot of quarters right now in York County pay close to $10K a year on taxes), then suddenly you start losing money for farming. The problem with property taxes is they won't fluctuate like crop prices will. If corn goes to $2 a bushel, you suddenly aren't going to pay $1500 taxes on it instead of $10K and that is where farmers could get into trouble. I think you would be surprised how much the Ag economy in Nebraska is spending right now. I've talked to quite a few salesmen, contractors, etc., who said there are more new houses being built by farmers then there are in a lot of the smaller towns. Same goes for buildings, equipment, etc. Out of curiosity I selected a random 160 acres in York County this year for year property taxes 2007 $5700 2008 $6600 2009 $6700 2010 $7300 2011 $8800 That's a huge increase in that amount of time. Imagine if your house property taxes increased that much in five years. Sure they can afford it now, but what if crop prices bottoms out? I'd love to hear from some involved in agriculture on this but I am guessing most of them are out working and not wasting time on message boards. Corn averaged 180 bushels per acre statewide in Nebraska in 2010 and that was an all time record (probably broken this year). So right there the estimate is on the high side. Costs run from $250 per acre on the low end (dryland) to $500 an acre on the high end (irrigated). Therefore, you're looking at $40,000 to $80,000 in costs per quarter. Corn is currently trading at about $5.80 per bushel in Omaha. 5.8 x 180 bushels x 160 = about $160,000 gross. Therefore, average net is probably between $80,000 and $120,000 per quarter at current grain prices. Over the last decade corn prices have generally been closer to $2 than $6. If grain prices return to previous levels and production remains at record setting levels then the gross per quarter of corn would be about $57,600. If input costs remain at $40,000 to $80,000 per acre you can see the kind of trouble these farmers could be in. (We haven't bought any new ground recently. Sure wish we would have bought that quarter to the north for $3,100 ten years ago. ) Of course after spending the time laying that out I find an article that does a much better job. Here you go. http://www.extension.../JohSept11.html Thanks for the number crunching. That is good stuff. To me it just seems like the land values are increasing too much and too fast to be sustainable with the ever fluctuating prices in crops. It's also kind of an eye opener that in this day and age, it appears virtually impossible for anyone to try to get into farming from scratch. I don't see any other way you could unless you had family involvement to start. Another thought I had on this is how do these crazy increases in value affect inheritance tax on farmers? I know the left is always championing that we need to tax the crap out of everyone that inherits these big estates and agriculture has some provisions to ease that but if the land values keep going up it could really be hard for a lot of farms to keep it in the families, leading to bigger and (gulp) dare I say corporate farms? Yea, I know Nebraska has laws against corporate farming but the way some of these farms are getting so huge, they may as well be.
19. Who else could KU get? Take a gamble on an young and upcoming unknown? They could have gone after Leach I guess... Maybe Weiss has learned from past mistakes at ND and won't make them again...? Leach, Leach, Leach. I can't imagine he wouldn't have wanted that job just got get the chance to play Tech every year. Could have jumped to Texas and got a lot of recruits since he knew the area so well, much better the Weiss ever will. I would have rather given Turner another year then hire Weiss. I will go ahead and call out that this won't end well. BAD HIRE.

21. Funny this is most farmers are borrowing very little to buy land or are not borrowing at all. Grain prices have been very good for the past several years and crop yields have been good too, so they have the cash. Exactly. Most of the farmers buying land now have the cash. The banking industry isn't making much profit off of farmers because they aren't taking out loans for a lot of this stuff.
22. Am I a bad fan for wishing we lost this game? I figured a loss would have been one step closer to getting a real coach.
23. You're a Michael Moore fan? I'm not. Michael Moore is the quintessential capitalist. Producing documentaries aimed at a distinct group of people and giving them everything the want to see, then cashing in on it large. Dude knows how to make a profit for sure. Other then that, I don't really care about him either way. I do agree with him and Sub on this one, Obama is Wall Street's guy as was the previous President before him and most likely whoever it is in 2012.
24. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/12/07/moore_wall_street_already_has_their_man_and_his_name_is_barack_obama.html You tell them Michael.
25. I suggest everyone here that agrees with Alex to all try the same thing on your next flight in support of him.
