  1. No doubt. When we had Latt defenses had to pick their poison, either stack the box to stop Latt, or double Alshon.
  2. I dont understand this logic. They can claim the SEC will win every bowl, but if they go out there and lose every bowl it hurts the league's image, just like winning every bowl would only enhance the reputation. My point is that what actually happens on the field matters more than what some "analysts" say. The SEC winning the past 5(6 this year) national championships is why ESPN hypes up the league so much.
  3. We've crapped the bed the last 3 years in bowl games so Imnot expecting anything different until I see it.
  4. Who cares about baseball. This is about football. If Nebraska had just won back to back national championships you would care about baseball. Highly doubt it with some of the people on this board. Many of the posters here hate any sport other than football, especially baseball and they make it well known by going to baseball threads just to post that baseball sucks. They are still Nebraska fans though. You dont think everybody would be trying to get CWS tickets if Nebraska went? The people who dont go you dont think they will watch it on TV? And then watching your team win 2 straight national championships is just awesome to say the least. Yall did it in football I could only imagine what would happen in Columbia if that happened.
  5. With a month to prepare who knows how we'll play. The last 3 years Ive thought we would do good and we have come out the last 3 years and played like crap. And as far as Alshon goes he hasnt gotten any national attention but Im pretty sure defensive coordinators still spend as much time trying to stop him.

  7. Yea we put him in the slot from time to time. You will most likely see it in the game.
  8. If it is Burks crew, the c$%ks just got spotted a 14 pt lead. That would suck! We dont get help from any officials. I dont think they have called holding against the other team since the UGA game. But I have seen blatant holds
  9. If we win the bowl game we will be preseason top 10. We would be an 11-2 team returning about 34/44 of our 2 deep and getting our Heisman candidate RB back.
  10. Best fans in college football are in Columbia, SC. Try selling out every home game during a 21 game losing streak(won the first game in 98 lost the last ten then lost all 11 in 99). Oh man...for your own sake please disown that comment. You picked the wrong fan base to make that pitch to.... Its just my opinion. And Im pretty biased obviously being a fan, just like they are. But I mean theres no doubt both teams' fans are pretty intense and top of the line.

  12. Alshon is 199 yards away from the all time SEC receiving record, in 2 1/2 years(didnt play the first half of his freshman year). Would be awesome if he got it on this Dennard dude haha.
  13. Recruits hardly choose a school based on one game.
  14. I remember looking at those matchups and wondering wtf? The SEC is pretty even, you got Vandy and UK playing MSU and Ole Miss, Bama-Tennessee(not too even recently), UF-LSU, UGA-AU, USC-Arky, and now Mizzou-TAMU. Although there have been rumors that LSU may be switching to our permanent rival but that remains to be seen.
  15. Nebraska has one. We'll see. He's a tough cover. Im not sure how Dennard likes to shut down opposing WRs but hes not gonna out physical Alshon. Im pretty pumped to see this matchup though. Who are some of the good WRs Dennard has shut down or at least done a good job on? I know Alshon abused Kirkpatrick from Bama and did pretty good against Janoris Jenkins from Florida, both of whom are first round talents.
  16. Im expecting a strong showing from the Nebraska D on Jan 2. Hope Im wrong though.
  17. I agree 100%, its actually scary how similar our teams are. Dual threat qbs, strong running games, strong defense, etc.
  18. So we're not seeing a ton of catches/yards for AJ because of scheme. That makes sense. The guy looks skilled, but his stats this year aren't eye-catching. As for loading the box... I don't know. Pelini has been pretty pig-headed about that this year. We've been playing a pretty base defense most of the year. We have a couple of good LBs, David and Compton, and some other pretty skilled players, but we've held them in check via scheme than just letting them just tear around with their hair on fire. One guy whose name you'll know very well by the end of the game, if you don't know him already, is Lavonte David. He's scary-good. Not getting a lot of draft buzz because he's small-ish for a LB, but he is a tackling machine. We really don't need to load the box, because (I can't believe I'm saying this) I think if your backs get past the line, they won't make it past David, Compton, and company. And claiming your ran for over 200 yards on Tennesee? I'm not so sure if I'd be too proud of that, and considering all florida could do was run, you may want to rethink your previous statement. If SoCar scores more than 10, I'd be surprised. AJ will get 4 or 5 catches for 60 yds, you'll run for about 100 yds, and end up with 225 yrds total offense and lose by almost two scores. Only way that doesn't happen, if you guys sneak somebody into our locker room, tell us we're playing Washington and have last years A&M game officials show up.... Not sure if serious... Florida(9th) and Tennessee(28th) both have better defenses than Nebraska(36th) http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/stats/byteam?cat1=defense&cat2=Total&conference=I-A_all&year=2011&sort=1124 "and considering all florida could do was run, you may want to rethink your previous statement".....umm what?
  19. That would be accurate. What's lost in the final score of that game, 45-42, was that we scored 3 TD's from either Defense or Special Teams. We had a Fumble recovery by Ingram for a TD, a pick-6 by Allen, and a 68 yard fake punt TD by Ingram (our All Amercian DE.) That game was in Athens too, so that helped their defense out a whole lot. Though, we also beat them up on the ground game, Lattimore had 176 yards on 27 carries Gilmore also returned a fumble to the 5 yard line.
  20. Not trying to get in a pissing match, but who has Nebraska beaten thats so great? Michigan St? Great win and congrats but thats 1. If a 16 point loss to a top 10 team in the nation on the road is getting curb stomped, then what do you call your losses vs Wisconsin and Michigan??
  21. Well yall better load the box because we are a running team. After Latt went down Tennessee and Florida both tried that strategy and failed. We ran for 231 on UT and 215 on UF. If you dont load the box we will run it on you. And the drop off isnt as drastic as you might think. Our guys are capable they just havent had many opportunities. There are some games where Shaw might only have 15 attempts, and most of the targets go to Alshon, so there are only so many balls that can go around.
  22. Its been a scheme and QB issue not to mention he's been doubled all year long. Garcia when he was here, was given all day to throw the ball but couldnt ever hit his targets. Then Shaw comes in after we lose our starting LT for the year which causes our o line to play like crap. So now were looking at a still developing QB with no blocking in front of him, along with Alshon still getting doubled. So yea I guess that explains things. But our o line ever since we lost Nunn(LT) has been steadily improving and Shaw has improved every game as a passer. Im probably a little biased, just as yall probably are with your corners, but I dont think there are many corners in the country who can guard Alshon 1 on 1. The man abused Kirkpatrick from Bama last year and hes supposed to be the next big thing at corner. I think I read that Pelini likes to leave his corners 1 on 1? If so Im excited for the matchup. Although I will say that if yall can get Dennard to do a good job on Alshon, then that extra safety would probably be used to get after Shaw in some way and that could spell trouble for us. A lot of our passing game comes from the extra attention given to Alshon.
  23. Our main SC insider says we lead big for Diggs. Id be shocked if he went anywhere besides SC regardless of the outcome of the game.
  24. When Clowney abused Vic Ballard then strip-sacked Tyler Russel was his best play of the year IMO. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMa-Gb0IkV0
