    This is great news!
  2. I will say it again, just because you are not happy with the sate of the program or have doubts, does not mean you are not a fan. I am definately not happy with the state the program is in and have doubts in the direction it is heading. Yes, I AM STILL A FAN! This is not a black or white issue! Of course people would be happier with 9 or 10 win seasons, DUH! Many speek out of emotion, many truly see this staff not getting the team back to national prominance, and many think that BC and SP should be held accountable for the words speek. DIFFERENCES IN OPINION, DOES NOT MAKE SOMEONE NOT A FAN!!!!! Why do the pessimists always have to blame NU for being so bad instead of giving credit to the opposition? IMO, the teams we have played have had some good players (I would not dispute this), but they have all been winnable games. Knowing this, it casts doubt on BC's ability to prepare the team and his schemes. Why in the last 3 games, has NU had to try to come back from such large deficits? Questions like this come to mind. From a player and talent standpoint, things are looking up, but it is how that talent is coached and used that many are questioning. A positive veiwpoint is wonderful, but it doesn't mean it is always the correct viewpoint. What if in 3 years, NU is still 5-6 0r 6-5, even with all of the talent coming in? Since we're playing the "look to the future card". Isn't it reasonable to say that those who posted concerns now, were justified (I am not talking about idiots that call SP or BC aholes). Those who think more should be being done than just thinking positive and looking to the future, while many are somewhat extreme, IMO their oppinions are just as justified as yours. Someone will be wrong, but neither you nor I knows who that will be.
  3. Dude, Cally has a SIX YEAR contract. We can't give him a year, two years, three years. That is up to NU management. NOT US.... He'll need years to get the right folks in here and get back on track. Try saying things like, I'll support him for one more year, or I'll back him with my money for one more year. Firing him is not your choice. Four more years! Four more years! Four more years! No real comment here. I am just having horrible flashbacks of the last presidential election when I read "four more years, four more years." Sorry......
  4. Disagree as much as anybody can. By him not understanding the traditions of NU-OU rivalry (throwing oranges, ruffneks), he disgraced himself and embarrassed the program with his actions at OU last year, just one instance. Does this quote make it sound like he understands, embraces, and RESPECTS the NU traditions, "I did everything I could to make a change in a program, and a culture and an environment that we're dealing with." I actually agree with Former on this. Plus, you can not read up-on or hear about the NU tradition, you must have lived it. Callahan was not around for Tagge/Rogers years or the Gill, Rozier, and Fryar years. He was not around to feel the heartbreak when we missed a field goal and lost to FSU. He was not around for Cory Schlesinger bulldozing in 2 scores the next year to bring the trophy home. Nor was he there through the Frazier years, or for the devastating death of Brook Berringer. NU fans have lived these moments. No amount of reading up on, or learning can compare. He may respect tradition (arguable), but IMO he will never completely understand it. I never grew up in the Vietnam Era, the Elvis Pressley era, the Disco era, World War II, the oil embargo. Wht does that mean for me? That i can never understand? I never lived through the days of Jesus Christ, does that mean that no matter how hard i try, i just won't get it? Sure you can understand it, but do you know the feeling of what it was like to be shot at in Vietnam by reading it in a book? Have you seen Elvis in concert or can you get the same feeling from listening to his records? Is reading about the scene at Studio 54 the same as, talking into Andy Warhols gold phone in the basement of the night club? Can you read the bible and know what it would be like to actually sit before Christ? You can understand and believe, but it is not the same as being there. NU fan will come and go, some will take it more seriously than others, and some will say it is just football, but in the end they are all NU fans. How serious they decide to take is up to them, not for me to question...it is their right.
  5. IMO, it is possible to be a fan and still voice an opinion about the team. Does anyone really know whether BC and the gang will turn things around..NO. Questioning, Critiquing, and discussing the state of the program is done in different ways by different people. It does not mean that it is wrong. I respect the opinion, no matter what opinion it may be. It is the those who wish everyone to have the same opinion that bother me, because then it ceases to be an opinion. I really doubt that, at one point or another, any NU fan has somehow questioned the state of the program this season (some more verbally than others). If you are a BC supporter, great, good for you. If you are not a BC supporter, good for you as well. But this arguement that if you do not talk about BC a certain way, you are not a true fan or NU supporter is truly from the minds of obtuse thinkers. There can be two sides, yes it is possible. If you do not like someones views, rebut them...debate them, but do not say that they are wrong or not a fan for having that opinion. I salute those who have strong opinions and hope that they continue, whether I agree or not. Go Big Red, God Bless this mess, and lets stomp KSU

  7. Free safety, let him use his speed to run to the football and knock someones head off.
  8. and we will be right back with more Dr. Phil in a minute......
  9. Kinda of a gamble IMO. If you wear it and summon up the "spirit of the ancient ancestors" and we win; then Halleluja, I will build an altar out red and white rabbit's feet, my autographed Peter brothers jersey, my poster of Memorial Stadium, and a lot of love. Then every game from hear on out, I will kneel before the altar, make the sign of the N, and pray that Eric the Red busts out the jersey. You could sell me on this! You may have to wear it every game for the next couple of years. Trust me, a Wistrom jersey DOES have power. Be careful though, it must only be used for the power of good, and many will try to take this power. There are Iowa State fans lurking in dark places....
  10. I hear he has trouble showing up for work though.
  11. It took NU to have a poorer quality team, for them to beat us. The didn't get better, we got worse. If they are happy enough about this, let them have their fun. It is kind of like making a shirt to celebrate you passed a class with a D-.
  12. NU held the ball for 25 minutes in the game. I agree with you, when the offense keeps going 3 and out, the defense is going to wear out quick and give up more yards and points. Yes, the D being on the field alot is a problem (nothing to be overlooked). From what I have seen though, there have been many players out of position, poor tackling, and poor schemes. We have been down by 20 or so points in the first half of many games (are they worn out by half?). How many big runs do we need up the gut? There is merit to the argument that they are on the field a lot, but it is only a small part of the problem.
  13. Apparently they did this 2 years ago...... Was it the boosters or just Pederson? No arguement, just asking cause I don't know.
  14. It is hard to say. I think either Dennis Wagner or Phil Elmassian.
  15. I honestly never meant to start a political debate. Especially over the ineptness of Bush (Where to begin, and would take to much time). I never expected a quick fix, but I did not expect 40-15 either. How does the 109th ranked offense score 40 on NU or anyone? IMO, NU has been one of the poorest prepaired teams for games this season, and from what I have heard MANY agree with me (not just NU fans either). I am not expectiong to win every game (I said this in the last post), but how many games must we watch the chosen NU schemes completely fail. It is not necessarily how the players are playing, but simply the wrong scheme for any given formation. Like I said before POOR game planning.
  16. IMO you make a couple good observations, but I disagree with you on some points. I personally am upset, not that we lost, but how and how bad we lost. It is simply unnacceptable to lose to KU (or anyone) by that much. The offense has NOT shown improvement in the last 3 games. You call 138 total yards improvement? The Defense is getting progressively worse. I am not saying that the players are bad, and I am definately not completley blaming them. Once again, where I do place blame is the team being unprepaired physically and mentally. I also blame poor game schemes and innability to adapt. These are COACHING problems. Are you one of these "if you don't support the war, you don't support the troops" type of people? I love NU, always have and always will. I will never apologize for high expectations, nor will I lower them. I supported Lord and I supported Dailey. I support all of the players that are on the field. It is how they are being used, coached and prepaired that I question. I think criticism lets coaches and players know how important NU football is to Husker Nation, and that we will not take losing lightly. They ALL new the high expectations coming into their positions and should have been prepaired to receive some scrutiny. It comes with the territory. If they do wish to be in the spotlight, they should get off the stage. For me, I Knew we would have to suffer bumps and bruises, but 70-10, 40-15 this is a decapitation...an embarrassment to fans, ex-players, alumni, and the institution. When and where do people draw the line and say "We will not accept this anymore" ?
  17. yes, and how many coaches did ND have to go through to get a good one? and they were not afraid to can the bad ones along the way either......see this for what it really is.......poor, poor coaches! hunter While we are at it look at the coaching turn around for Oklahoma as well. Three coaches between Switzer and Stoops. Not to bash Blake, for he is one of the coaches I think they should keep.
  18. Title: Huskers are History! Oh, did anyone hear Callahan blame his players again on Big Red Wrap-up? He took the loss as lack of intensity. Wow, sad times my fellow Huskers.
  19. Well put, we lost to a better team. A better prepaired and coached team. KU also just seemed to want it more.
  20. I don't know about Norvell, but Wagner has not accomplished squat with the line this year. They started poor and got worse.
  21. I can't believe that I think that way either. I only say give him another, so more time can be put into the hiring process of a new coach. The last hiring process was a little shaky and look at the results. A little shaky I know a girl who was a little bit pregnant once. pud has screwed this up, big time. Blow out a guy that wins 9 games, and bring in a loser. Nobody is gonna want this job, pud needs to go, too. (TO for AD?????????????) You are right, shaky was a complete understatement. Is it possible to be Govenor and AD at the same time? If so, why not....
  22. The players need some of the blame as well. How much? I don't know. I know it is hard for some around here to blame them but come on people. They play the games as well. An all around stinkfest. Did Mangino(sp) eat the goalposts after the game? No, but I heard porkchop was nervous!
  23. It was winnable. That is the problem.
