  1. Keoni looks every bit the TE that Wilkerson is, at least as far as receiving. Comparable size, better speed, and seems to do more with the ball in his hands. Is there anything besides the island factor that explains the relative lack of interest in him (although he is getting late interest from PAC schools)?
  2. Looks like we got two commits yesterday. Kearney High kicker Spencer Lindsay is going to walk on. Hopefully he turns out as good as the last walk-on kicker from Kearney. http://nebraska.scou...%2f1151081.html. There's video of him on youtube. Edit: Sorry, this probably belongs on the walk-on forum.
  3. I just wasn't as wowed with his CB play as I was with Devian's (I get a hard-on for physical corners. Still really hoping we get him), but, of course, the coaches are paid to evaluate and groom talent we're not. He has great size and listed speed. Don't want to be a total stick-in-the-mud, but it's interesting that when a prospect has a slower 40 time listed on the paid sites (e.g. Alonzo Moore) the accuracy of the time is usually questioned but the same doubts aren't raised when it's a fast 40 time. Someone above, though, said the time was legit and, at any rate, Vince Marrow should have a pretty good idea of what LeRoy can do. A belated welcome to the fold, LeRoy!
  4. This guy couldn't even walk-on at UNO, but that's Trev Alberts' fault.
  5. His position on Hudl is listed as "C" so maybe we're hoping he can replace Caputo.
  6. Nice to finally get a commit on the heels of a visit. Listed speed is good but the video of him at CB is a little underwhelming. As was said above, it'd be interesting to know what position the coaches see him at.
  7. The one that was ranked the 25th best CB prospect in the country? He turned out pretty well. Highlights of Dontavious are available: http://www.hudl.com/...ontavious-heard (don't know how to put them in this post) He looks quite a bit faster than 4.66. Blows by a few of his teammates to run down an RB in one clip.
  8. Whoops, guess my memory is a little rusty.
  9. Didn't Braylon do a year in JUCO? I think Jackson opted to try and retake his ACT so he could get here this January but couldn't raise his score. As I understand it, if Jackson had done the one non-football playing year in JUCO, we'd have had him this coming fall with four years to play. Sometimes kids just hit a brick wall with tests like the ACT and can't do any better. What sucks is that I remember an episode of Big Red Wrap Up this last fall where they checked in with Jackson and he was dying to get up here.
  10. Probably shouldn't pass judgment without seeing any film on him, but if true this is disheartening. As far as plans go, this one is pretty far down the alphabet. Couldn't we get by with Seisay + 1 (most likely Ford) in this class? Unless this is kid is a diamond in the rough, maybe we should hold onto the scholarship and spread a wider net earlier in the recruiting process for 2013.
  11. it has nothing to do with keeping it from other recruits. Those guys know who's on board and who's not. Fuller already knows what we plan to do if both he and Moore are on board. The reason the coaches have asked to keep thing on the down low has more to o with a few folks at a couple of scouting services trying to hurt our efforts. They've told some lies to a few kids or tried to push them to consider other schools with their questioning. Thanks for explaining. I hadn't heard anything about this.
  12. it would make some sense if he was holding out for another offer but LSU was the only school (besides Miss State) that anyone was worried about and they apparently don't have room for Moore. Maybe recruits just enjoy the theatrics of it. I would hope that we wouldn't ask recruit A to keep his commitment secret so we could use recruit A's absence to entice recruit B to commit. I would think that we'd start off on the wrong foot with recruit B when he signs his LOI and finds out that we were jerking him around.
  13. From 3 to 4 stars. That must mean he's 33% better than before! I really hope we get him. I don't understand why our staff would ask prospects to keep their commitment secret. What interest does that further?
  14. I agree. It kind of reminds of the Rios situation.
  15. I'd love to seem him walk on, but I think that would be pretty tough when he has scholarships from good schools (at least academically) like Iowa and Kansas (assuming those are still "committable").
  16. I take it he's not expected to announce tomorrow.
  17. Agreed. The internet has sure created a whole new world of opportunities to screw with the heads of college fanbases. I still like our chances, though.
  18. I'd hope we're in it, him being a Nebraska boy (and a big one). 2013 is looking a lot better for in-state recruits. Edit: He has some good programs showing interest already.
  19. That's pretty surprising but great news. The Vols seemed pretty confident about getting him. From one of their boards: "'An offer from Tennessee would be it,' [Devian] said. 'I've always grown up loving them. They have started to show more interest and I'll just have to see how things go. If they don't offer by mid-season, I may just make a commitment to one of my other options.'" Supposed to be from 247. http://www.volnation.com/forum/tennessee-vols-recruiting/131084-12-ca-cb-devian-shelton-2.html
  20. Thank god it's going to be milder this weekend.
  21. Maybe they found out he was committing to Nebraska.
  22. Yes, so much so that we are pressuring VV to commit before his visit. We only want to take 1 DT and VV is the one we want. I hope we don't try to strongarm the kid too much. That tactic didn't work for Brian Kelly. Of course, we've been on Valentine a lot longer than the Irish were on Westerkamp.
  23. My thinking exactly here. Obviously we brought in a couple of good ones last year, but we've only got Thurston right now, which I am really excited about. Not a lot of love to him because he verballed so early, but seems like a good prospect. Thurston looks great on film and the fact that we pulled him from the State of Colorado makes it all the sweeter. Last year's OLine class was strong but I still hope we take more than Thurston this year. Tyler Moore aside, not very many players step onto the line as true freshmen and make an impact. In a couple of years, our OLine should be very good but I hope we keep building that depth. The Peat clan seems like a good bunch and they're familiar with the recruiting process. Although Andrus may want to delay his announcement for dramatic effect, I doubt he would leave the coaches at Stanford, FSU, and DONU hanging until February 1. I'm probably reading way too much into things, though.
  24. Anyone else think that it's significant that Peat seems to be the only OLine recruit left on the big board (either a reason to hope that he's told the coaches something good or a reason for concern)? I know it's a small class, but I've always thought you want to take a couple of those guys every year.
  25. He should be at 2.6 after this last semester and he's got two easy core classes this semester that should help. His coach is pretty confident he'll be fine and it doesn't sound like he's much of a BS'er when it comes to this stuff. As a side note it sounds like USC made a push for him late and he told them no. If his gpa is truly at 2.6 and doesn't drop, a 17 on the ACT (67-69 composite) means he's eligible. See the sliding scale: http://www.ubathletics.buffalo.edu/compliance/slidingscale.pdf.
