  1. After every lose the fans what to fire every coach. Wasn't Nebraska know for having coaches stay with the program for decades? Ok, lets say they fire Cos, then what? They still have to pay him and then what if the next guy sucks. Do they then fire him after one or two seasons? Bill then gets fired. They still have to pay him. And then what if the next coach sucks. Do they then fire him after 3 or 4 seasons. If the school starts to go down that route, then this program is going to be average for 10 more seasons. The secondary is not that good this year. We all know that by now. So what does the program do? Recriut speed!! Remember when the defense was useing safeties as linbackers and linbackers as ends. This defense is way to slow. Speed is the name of the game now. The Huskers need to recruit speed at every position. Texas, USC, OK ST. had more speed on offense then our defense could handle. Why do they allways play 10 yards off? Because if they play bump and run, touchdown every pass play. The linebackers are slow. The secondary is slow. And the line is slow. You add that up and you get beat by a faster offense. When the offense scores 29 points you should win. All this talk about Nebraska fans fans being the best, after every lose they want to fire every coach and bench every player. The new fans want results now. Nebraska is just like the pros. If you don't win in 3 years you are fired. We are in a win now society. So to all the new coaches and players in the future, you better win now because your ass will be out of here in 3 to 4 seasons!! Hope we don't go down that route.
  2. We will all agree that the 93-97 years of Nebraska football is the best in the school history. The problem is, that it is only ten years ago and alot of fans hold every team and coach to that standerd. Only the best in the History of college football did what the Huskers did in those five years. To go 60-3 and win 3 of 4 championships is not done every year. The 98-06 years have been good(99) average(02)bad(04). I recall from 84 to 92 the Huskers would be around 9-3, maybe win the Big 8 and lose to a Florida school in the bowl game. The Huskers didn't play in a championship game durning 84 to 92. The 70-83 years brought 2 champioships and almost another(83). Alot of fans grew up on the 93-97 years or the older fans got real spolied. Callahan would have to duplicate what Tom did in his last 4 years to win over alot of Husker fans. Didn't it take Tom around 20 years to win his first? Alot of fans take a loss like it is the end of the world because they still think it's the 93-97 era. Parity is in college football. Anybody can beat anybody. On this day the Cowboys were better. The Huskers are 6-3 with the Big 12 North title on the line. Isn't that the whole year was about. To win the Big 12 North. It's Nebraska or Missouri. We as fans are always disapointed with a loss, but now every time the Huskers lose alot of fans just go overboard like World War 3 just started. The goal for the season is on the line next week. How bad do the Husker football team really want to play for a Big 12 title? Next game will show if Callahan, his staff, and the players really want to turn the program around, and not just talk about it. Whoever goes to the game next week, scream your ass off and let's help this football team beat Missouri!! GO BIG RED FOREVER!!!!!!!!
  3. How about Slayer -Hell Awaits, Motorhead- Ironfist, Black Label Society- Funeral Bell. When you want to pump the crowd up or have the Blackshirts make a stop on 4 and 1, you don't play techno music. You play some kick ass metal bands.
  4. After today, The Huskers have taken another step to being a Top 10 program. The Huskers are not back yet, but are moving that way to being a Top 10 program. The goal of the season was to win the Big 12 North and play in the Championship game. My prediction for the Huskers record was to lose to USC and Texas, win all the other games, and beat Texas in the championship game and go 10-2. If the Huskers play like they have played all year, the Huskers should win the rest of their games. The Huskers were the only team in America to play the 2 teams that played for the National Championship last year. Against USC, the Huskers had the right game plan but couldn't execute it. Against Texas, the Huskers should have won the game. Losing to #3 USC by 18 and #5 Texas by 2, just shows that the Huskers are taking the next steps to being a Top 10 program. The Husker have won every game they should have won and played good to excellent against USC and Texas. The Huskers still need 1-2 more recruiting classes to really show America the Huskers are really back. Playmakers are starting to really look at Nebraksa. The down fall to the program was recruiting. Alot of programs just had better talent. Coach Callahan is not as bad as fans make him out to be. Yes, he can be alot better, but he is growing with the program. From his first season to right now his third, Callahan has gotten better just as has the Football players have become better. The goal of the season was to win the Big 12 North and it really looks like the Huskers are the #2 team in the whole Big 12. Today hurts but, this football has shown America THE HUSKERS ARE COMING!!!!!!!
  5. Zac is going to get drafted in the 3rd to the 7th round. With being 6-2 and playing in a pro style offense he will be drafted. He will be a backup quaterback in the pros. He won't start but be a quality back-up. Zac is a damn good quaterback and one of the toughfest I seen. For only being 2 years at the program I think the Husker fans will make him a Husker legend. To me, he saved the program. Without him who knows how this whole fireing Solich and hireing Callahan would have gone. Zac is proud to be a Husker and so I'm I. HUSKER FOR LIFE!!!! Strength Determination Merciless Forever
  6. Just read that Steve has missed the last 4 games with a hamstring injury. This injury could last the hold year. This type of injury has known to last from 6 weeks all the way to a year. Steve Smith from the Carolina Panthers missed 6 weeks and Chad Jackson from the New England Patriots has been injured for 9 weeks now. With a hurt hamstring you can not run. I think Steve is going to be hurt all season and will come back for his senior year with a vengence.
  7. Now we all know is that when Callahan gets more than a 2 touchdown lead he will start to run the ball all the time. This is the thinking of football of the NFL. In the NFL there is only wins. In college you have to win and win with flair. The polls look down at 17-13 wins. In the NFL it's a win and one step closer to the playoffs. I have no problem running the ball because it helps the Defense, runs the clock down, quiets the crowd down, don't have int's. But it seems the Offense starts to go alot of 3 and outs, and just starts to play average. I would like to see Cally pass more and score more when we have more than a 2 td lead, but he won't. Once he has a lead he will run and bleed the clock down. My thinking is the same, I only care about a win. 3-0 or 70-0 38-35. It doesn't matter, only a win. But in college you have to win 35-3. The Huskers are just going to move up 1 or 2 spots everyweek. Callahan has to know you have to win big in college or the polls look down on the win. 6-1 leading the Big 12 North. Bowl bound. Great win and let's hope for a upset next week. Husker for life.
  8. True fans stick with there team through winning and loseing. I've been a Husker fan since 1982 when I was 10 years old living in Missouri. I have never ever thought about not being a Husker fan. Husker red is bleeding through me till the day I die. My Blackshirt tattoo on my arm means Husker for life. Real fans show up when your team is having a losing season and you still pay $50-100 for tickets. F*CK the bandwagon fans!!!
  9. Wasn't that facemask on 4th down and the refs didn't call a facemask. I was thinking that game how was that not a facemask??
  10. Now 5 games into the season we look at the Blackshirts stats They are giving up on the average 15 points per game. 4 rushing tds and 6 passing tds for a total of 10 tds. They are giving up on the average 122 rushing yards a game and 198 passing yards a game. To me these are some pretty damn good stats. 15 points per game, 10 total tds, under 200 passing. The run defense could get a little better. Then I found the stat that has every saying that this defense is weak. The Blackshirts have 5 sacks. Last year we led the nation with 50. Since we are averaging 1 a game, this makes this defense look weak. The sack total is making this defense look really weak but in reality they are playing pretty good. Some might say we played 3 cream puffs and struggled against 2 good teams. If the Blackshirts clean up the tackling ( Stop trying to strip the ball and just tackle) and help the corners (The linebackers are helping in the passing game so they are not blitzing to much) with the safeties then will start to see the real Blackshirts. Last year the defense was always blitzing the linebackers. The sack total is making the defense look weak but to me they are playing pretty good but not great. Through 5 games I give them a B-, Offense A-, Special teams B (Slick Rick Thenarse is already a beast on special teams. Hope he plays like that on defense. Also like the up side on Major Culbert. Two speed guys from Los Angeles). NU 35-ISU 28 next week. Remember Husker fans if we just win everything will take care of it's self. JUST WIN BABY!!!!!
  11. When Sunday rolled around we are 4-1. All this pissin and cryin because Kansas took us to overtime. Big deal. We won the game. For me it's just about wins and loses. It's how many do the Huskers score and how many do the opponent scores. My way might not be the right way but who cares about all the little stuff we bitch and moan about . Huskers 39 Kansas 32. 100 years from now the score will still be the same. There is so much parity in football. We as fans don't really give anyboby any credit. We think we should win 70-0 everytime. The problem is our Defense is too slow and our db's are too small. 5 games in we all know that. Everygame in the Big 12 are going to be a dogfight. Just lightin up the world did not end because we went to overtime to Kansas. Remember you fans can walk on to the program and help the team. Is the any 6-2 corners on the message board or 4.2 speed linebackers. If not ,who are we to blame the players or the coaches. The Huskers are 4-1 1-0 in the Big 12. That is all that matters. That just one's fans way who looks at the football program. Iowa St. is next. Let's give them some credit. The score might be NU30 ISU 28. Then we go to 5-1. Remember we WON.
  12. We are all Nebraska fans here and we all want the Huskers to win. But the reality is the Huskers are bound to lose some games. Nobody wins everytime they play. That's why there are new Champions every year. Some people take a loss like there whole life is runied. We all want to see the Huskers play good and win but man, some of you take these loses a little to far. After one lose this message board always become a Pro Callahan vs Anti Callahan. We all like to see the Huskers win every game but they won't. That's reality. This program isn't damanged because we lost to USC. We are just 3 games into the season. Life isn't over or is it??
  13. Would everybody be happy if we lost 70-10. Jarrett was going to have 300 yrds and 4 tds if we got into a shootout. USC has better skill players than the Huskers. Maybe if the team played it close then the team won't hang it's head. Maybe the Huskers are thinking we could hang with the #2 team in the nation. Does losing 70-10 better than losing 28-10. We had to play a perfect game to win and we didn't. Would you rather lose by 18 or 60?
  14. We were suppose to lose to USC. People think that if we didn't win the season is over. The Big 12 North is the goal for the season not a National Championship. If we were suppose to win then why were we 18 point underdogs and ranked 19th in the nation? Losing 28-10 to the #2 team in the nation isn't bad. People are going to spin it like we should have won. We are a top 25 team right now but not a top 10 team.
  15. Since we lost it's time to hear the bring back Solich!! Maybe we could have won if we ran it 65 times and have Lord pass it 5 times Bring back the drunk
  16. Next game we should throw everydown! Let's throw when it's 3rd and 1 like we did last year. Now everybody want's to be like Texas Tech and throw it 70 times a game. Let's run 5 wide just to please everybody and become a team like Texas Tech. We should have scored 40 agans't the #2 team. It's like we should have won 50-28. 28-10 agans't the #2 team is a step foreward.
  17. To lose to USC 28-10 just shows we are on the right track. To beat USC we had to play a perfect game and USC had to make mistakes. The Huskers had a chance to win the game but it had to be luck. USC is a better team than the Huskers. So losing 28-10 shows that we can hang with the #2 team in the nation. I still think that slowing the game down was the right play calling. In a track meet Jarrett would have had 300 yards and 4 tds.
  18. If we passed every other down we would have givin them more scoring oppertunites. The game plan was to keep it close. Do we really think that we could match USC speed to speed. Did everybody see their speed on their defense? Tell me, how do tou beat a speed team? You run the ball. How do you think the Patriots always beat the Colts in the playoffs? They run the ball and play defense. Everybody thinks we could beat them in a trackmeet. We had to run the ball to shorten the game.
  19. The Huskers had to run the ball today because we couldn't match them in a track meet. Who really thinks we could score 40 against these guys. Cally slowed down the game to keep it close so we could have a chance. USC has too much speed. Do you really think that we could win a 45-40 game? We held USC to 28 points. How many bozos in the media were talking USC is going to score 50. Jarrett was everything everybody said. 28-10 game against USC is very respectable. If we passed 40 times we would have lost 60-10 and everyone would have said how come we didn't run. Glenn didn't play because he is a power runner and we had to match speed to speed. Cally was trying to slow down the game. To beat a speed team you have to slow down the game not get into a trackmeat.
  20. The reason we ran the clock out was what happen if we went 3 and out and gave USC like 50 seconds left. You run out the clock because the Huskers started the drive at the 13 yard line. You really think they could go 50-60 yards. Don't think like a arm chair quaterback. What happen if there was a turnover. Then what. 14-3 at half. The Trojans are not putting 50 on us. The reason why we are running alot because you do not want USC offense on the field all day. You have to run the clock so they don't have to many posessions. They do need to start passing because after a while we need to start scoring. USC is just a little to fast for us.
  21. Just looking at the stats for 2 games, the Huskers are starting to look like a balance team that Coach Callahan was looking for. Since living in the Bay Area for the last 20 years, I witnesed the 49ers dynasty and the Raiders(Gruden and Cally years). The West Cost offense that is running at a high level is a very balance team. We are averaging 256.5 running and 284.5 passing. The running game opens up the slant routes and the long ball. How many times did Joe, Steve, and Rich have a running game going and just pick apart the other teams defense. Right now Lucky has 31 carries and 2 tds. Glenn 24-3. Wilson 24-1. Jackson 10-1. We have 4 very good backs on this team. This is a very good thing. Let's see a team stop all 4. You may stop one, maybe 2 but not all 4. We will have a running game this year. Zac has this offense down. He will throw 4,000 yards 30 tds. There are 13 players who have caught a pass. Tom Brady of the Pats always throw to 8 or 9 receivers a game. Just think, Mo who may turn into a 1,000 yard 8 tds receiver this year. Add all the tightends, receivers, and backs and this offense can average 52 points that they are avering now. With this defense, just look at how many points we are giving up. Right now it's 8.5 a game. It's not how many yards, it's how many points. We can give up 350 yards a game, it doesn't matter if you are only giving up 10 points a game. It's not how many yards you give up it's how many points you give up. This Husker team has a good chance to go to a BCS game. Huskers 35-USC 28. UPSET or NOT????
  22. Zac Taylor is the key to this season. He looks like he has this offense down. Zac is a mid round NFL quaterback. He will get drafted between the 3 and 7th round. When was the last time a Nebraska quaterback was drafted a quaterback. Vince in the 70's? If Zac can average 60% completion percentage, 250-300 yards and 2-3 touchdowns a game, then Nebraska is going to have a monster season. He is going to surprise a lot of scouts. Zac's play is the key to this season. Great quaterback play is the key too all Championship seasons. Pro or college.
  23. 1 750ml of America's finest, JACK DANIEL'S. :wootx2
  24. One week till the season opener!! Just saw the Alamo Bowl game. If the Huskers play like they played that night, this team can go 11-2 or better. For the Huskers to take the next step they must first stay healthy. Zac, Adam, and Octavien must not miss any games. If Zac or Adam are lost for the season, the offense or defense lose there best player. Dr.Oc stays healthy, he will make easely All Big 12 and maybe some All American votes. This team must play up to it's poitential. Each position on both side of the ball have playmakers. But the big question will be, there can not be any letdowns. Zac must lead scoring drives, not field goals. The I-Backs must have a better running game then last year. The receiving core must catch the ball. The O-Line must run block and pass block way better than some of the games last year. Lucky Zac wasn't killed last year (One tuff football player). If the front four and linebackers play to their skills, this front seven can be a Big 12 champ and maybe a National top 10 defense. This front seven is the key to the season. They will be what drives the huskers to the Big 12 championship. The secondary must not give up to many big plays. The front seven will help the secondary, but they must come through with some turnovers. Special teams must help win some games. Not everything is going to go allright, but if the Huskers play 90% up to it's poitential, this team is 9-3. 95% 10-2. 100% 11-2 or better. Below 90% 8-4 or worse. If the Huskers don't go 9-3 and win the Big 12 North, then this season is a letdown. My take: 10-2 (loses to USC and Texas) Win Big 12 North and upset Texas in the Big 12 Championship game. 11-2 with BCS bowl game and a Top 10 ranking. Go HUSKERS 2006. SDMF.
