  1. To answer your points: There is no place in America without regulations. You are arguing against regulations, stating that regulations = bad for American business. I'm saying EVEN IF THERE WERE NO REGULATIONS HERE, it's better to have the polluting done there than here. For example: I have decided I'm going to defecate in a living room. May I come over to your house or would you like me to stay here? You've stated yourself in the Global Warming Pause thread that you're in favor of green energy. "I don't have a problem with green energy. It's obviously a good thing and any thing we can do to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels the better...especially oil." Why you say that, then later describe them as "feel good" policies... you'll have to clarify that one. If you gave an example in the Global Warming Pause thread of a company moving because of regulations, I missed it, it was not a comment directed at me, and claiming I "ignored it" is inaccurate. I read through your posts in that thread and I don't see what you're referring to. Please link to that post instead of just making a claim that I ignored you. I don't understand your last paragraph. As we've covered, we're going to lose jobs to China regardless of their policies or ours concerning environmental regulations. This is a red herring and it needs to stop. Whether China pollutes or does not pollute, whether America pollutes or does not pollute, our jobs are going there because their labor costs are a fraction of ours. We will not stop losing jobs to China because of our environmental safeguards. I am not arguing against regulation and I have never said labor costs aren't a major part of it.
  2. Honestly, I don't think we will find a coach that does most of those such as work ethic, effort, teach, pride...etc. more than Bo. Problem is, there is a problem with one area you mentioned....mindset. Something is wrong here where the team melts down a few times a year. This starts at the top with the head coach which means #9 and #10 are the biggest issues on the team. Fix those, and this entire program is totally different.
  3. So....let me get this straight. We are bad fans because we like and care about our sports teams? Hmmmm....who knew?
  4. Good lord. Why don't we see what he does at the end of the season before we claim he is a problem?
  5. I Smoked a neck roast this summer and I thought it turned out very good.
  6. Soooo...... Who will be the interim head coach for the bowl game?
  7. you will have to let us know how that goes. preferably with pictures. Ok. Cleaned both deer tonight and got a good look at the ribs. I was attempting to figure out the best way to cut them out when it dawned on me.....there is absolutely no neat here. It's not worth my time. I'm fine feeding the ribs to the coyotes.
  8. Where? I believe it was in the global warming thread where I have said the exact same things and given examples of local companies leaving due to these regulations. Then, you still act like more regulations have no affect on the economy even though I have given examples of people losing their jobs. This article also gives examples of people losing their jobs in California. I think you're thinking of the Obama / Jinping deal thread. If so, "ignored those posts" was a gross mischaracterization of my participation in that thread. I also missed the part where you gave personal examples of people losing their jobs because of regulations, unless maybe it's this post, which doesn't do anything to further the point that those jobs belong in America: Because if the choice is having those jobs here with no regulations protecting the environment, or having those jobs move to China where they're willing to trash the environment to catch up on their industrialization, I'll help pack up the material to send the jobs over there. And to carry the answer I gave to this into this thread, far from ignoring the point, what I said is true - those jobs are moving to China whether we have a 0.00% emissions policy or no curb on emissions whatsoever. It is a cost-of-labor issue far, far more than an environmental regulation issue. Where is there no regulations protecting the environment in the US? And, you are willing to pack up those companies and have people lose their jobs even though it has no affect net net on the global environment. But...hey...I guess it makes us feel good. And, yes, in the Global Warming thread i gave an example of a local company that moved it's plant due to environmental regulatlions. And...oh yes, the wonderful agreement we are now in with China that says...."Hey....you go ahead and pollute more and we will go ahead and put more regulations on ours." It's funny how I'm told that our overall world pollution needs to DROP or we are all going to die. BUT...hey.....you just keep polluting more and more. I don't think the world environment really cares that China is going to max out it's pollution in 2030 when it's over polluting already.

  10. Nobody is giving businesses "permission" to pollute other than other countries. The problem is, Americans LOVE those products made in those other countries. They don't give a flying rats azz that those products are polluting the planet. But..hey....they have a nice blue sky above them. Nobody is arguing against regulations. It's a problem though when those regulations continue to get more and more out of whack where companies in say California, Nebraska or Texas have to compete with other companies located in places like China. Chinese companies dump loads of product on our market where it is very difficult and (sometimes) impossible for a local company to compete and that local company has to do something. I know some people just don't want to accept that but that is a reality in the business world. We continue to regulate and regulate and regulate. Meanwhile, China is laughing (coughing) all the way to the bank because they are kicking our azz in many markets. Again, I am not for deregulating the US. But, like the example in California, companies will simply move and there isn't any benefit for the environment.....but hey....some people get that warm and fuzzy feeling.
  11. Is this a serious question?Regulations, regulations, regulations. Obsessive, obscene and punitive It's a serious question not being given serious answers, unfortunately. Can you, specifically, talk about those and how they affect our industry? Which regulations? Instituted when? How punitive are they, and in what way? Speaking of deflections, I'm beginning to think this whole Obama tangent was a deflection to distract attention from someone trying to have an honest dialog about this issue. I'm still looking for an answer to this. It's a real question, on-topic and everything. Knapp, I gave personal experiences in another thread about jobs that went elsewhere because the company could build a plant in an area that doesn't have as high of regulations. You ignored those posts. Here is an article about what is happening in California. The gist of the article is that the author pretty much is wishy washy about the affect on the economy. However, this snippet is pertinent to your question: If companies can move to places that have less regulation, they will because it's cheaper. that doesn't matter if it's from state to state or from country to country. Now, I have said over and over again, I am not for lessing the current regulations. Maybe we could make them more efficient and get rid of some that don't actually help the environment. But, all in all, I don't want the US more polluted than it is now. BUT, there are countless examples of jobs lost because various regulations made it easier to do business elsewhere.
  12. Here is another thing that baffles me about Bo. He is supposed to be a defensive mind. He has put together some defenses that were very dominant. When you look at his LSU defense or here in 2009 or 2010...come on....who wouldn't be happy about that? BUT....then how often has his defenses been absolutely totally embarrassed? It really is amazing the difference. Let's think about this for a minute. Melvin Gordon ran for more yards against us than Mike Rosier ever did against ANYONE during the scoring explosion.....WTF????? Now, I will argue to my grave that Wisconsin's offense wasn't more talented than what we have on defense right now. BUT....when something went wrong on the field, did Bo think introspectively about..."hey....we need to change this because what we are calling isn't working". No. He flipped out and totally melted down at everyone else around him. Let's simply take when he blew up at Daniel Davie. Nebraska was still in the game. I believe this was the first long TD that Gordon had ran. Davie simply made one mistake and There was NO help behind him. Well, I'm sorry, if Bo is calling defenses against an offense that has Melvin Gordon and a very questionable passing attack and the success is contingent on absolutely NOBODY making a mistake or it goes to the house.....well......that's a problem with the scheme and who is controlling the defense on the sidelines. A mistake like what Davie made should have resulted in maybe a 10-15 yard gain instead of a 50 yard TD without being touched. Bo's reaction to his own mistake is unacceptable as a leader.
  13. I don't give a flaming rip what our "national perception" is right now. We need to fix things internally before we start caring about that.
  14. It's on Directv channel 639 (Sports Net NY). I have Dish Network. I will have to try to find it. I have Dish also. I saw this tweet. Does this mean Coxhub.com is not free or Dish is not free either? I quickly looked at my Dish app for the game and I didn't see channel 438.
  15. I agree with that. Now, I don't have a problem (if handled correctly) with a base level of literacy that the nation sets as..."this is the minimum of what our schools should be teaching". That seems to me to be reasonable. However, as usual, in these situations, many don't handle it well and and it becomes something very negative instead of something productive. Now, if every local school district or state would take those standards and try to honestly blow them away and see how far better they can be than the minimum standards, then great.
  16. I'm willing to listen to what he has to say before making a decision.
  17. What type of cooking are you doing? Traditional oven? Smoking? Frying?
  18. LOL...one time I was asked to cook for this large event. It was around 300 people. The lady who hired me kept telling me if I needed help, she could get some one to come help. The day of the event when the meat was on the cooker, she kept sending me text messages...."Are you sure you don't need help pulling your meat?" She had absolutely no clue what she was saying until I saw her and her husband in person and started teasing her about it. It was priceless.
  19. Homemade bread would be nice touch. We have a fantastic molasses bread recipe my mother made for years.
  20. We need a leader that is also a leader when things start to not go well.
  21. I am in no way a brisket expert. Not at all . . . but this is what the site that I use the most says about the topic: http://amazingribs.com/recipes/beef/texas_brisket.html Everyone here probably already knows about amazingribs.com, though. Haha. I've read that before and tried it absolutely as close to how they describe it as possible and it still shreds when I try to cut it. They claim you should take it to around 203 degrees. That's above where the connective tissue "melts" thus....allowing it to fall apart. I've always been frustrated about this. I've lost competitions before where my pulled pork and ribs were fantastic but my brisket wasn't. FYI.....my burnt ends recipe basically came from this site. It's awesome.
  22. OK. We aren't celebrating our extended family Thanksgiving till Saturday with all the turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes. So, we are trying to come up with what to do on actual Thanksgiving with just our family. My kids really don't even like the traditional Thanksgiving meal (which is really odd to me). My daughter the other day actually said she would rather have venison than Turkey. Proud of that one. Anyway, so, it got me thinking. Why not have something similar to what may have been at the very first meal between the pilgrims and indians. So, I'm thinking: Venison Fish Duck (if I could get hunting between now and then) corn Squash Thoughts? What would you do if you were going to try this?
  23. It will appeal to a minority, sure . . . but more importantly it's the right thing to do. If they want to deport everyone they need to provide funding for 11 million deportations instead of the 400,000 per year that they've currently funded. If they don't want to deport everyone they need to decide on a metric for who is allowed to stay and why. Doing nothing is not an option and opposing Obama is not governing. Oh....I agree. It is just amazing how the Republicans can shoot themselves in the foot with minorities though.
  24. Ok...I'm excited about the basketball season and am craving good games. So far, we haven't played anyone who we can really claim was a good test. I know Rhode Island has had good teams in the past. Last year they only won 14 games. However, that almost matches the wins they have had over the two previous seasons combined. This year, they are 2-0 just like us. They have blown out both of their opponents like we have. Question.....is this going to be a game that really tests our team? It's on the road. If we win this game, is it something we can hang our hat on and learn how good our team is?
