  1. This kid is special guys! Been watching him for years. He has it all. Miles snuck one out of the lone star state that is as good as any around here. That includes the many five stars around here. He hasn't played on high profile AAU teams until last year, so he hasn't been seen like the Harrison twins, Julius Randle, Keith Frazier, Matt Jones, etc. But he's every bit the player those guys are. Texas is so loaded with talent it's not even funny. He plays the game the right way. He takes over when he needs to, he defers when that's what his team needs, and will do all the little things when he's not needed to be "the man". But rest assured, he can definitely dominate whenever he decides to. I haven't seen many high school kids that can change their game, depending on the circumstances, like he can. He's the real deal! We are in for a treat the next four years with this 2013 class and the transfers that become eligible next year.
  2. I think Webster is committed to NU and the staff is definitely committed to him. I'm hearing Webster is likely to have academic qualifying issues stemming from differences between New Zealand curriculum and requirements here. I think that's why the sudden interest in Jorgenson.
  3. Flatwater, I've seen where it looks like he was at least on the roster at Judson down in a suburb of San Antonio (a traditional football power) in the past, but I've never seen him on any of the bigger AAU programs, or any of the central Texas ones either, for that matter. Interesting.
  4. He can really jump, but he doesn't seem to jump off one foot as well as he does two. I was at a dunk contest last year and saw him do a couple of dunks that made me sit up and take note. One was a left handed windmill, and the other was a 360 that was nasty with two hands, where he was turning in the opposite direction somehow. His first step on offense is terrific, and he has really quick feet on defense. He's pretty physical on the perimeter and sometimes picks up an early foul but seems to be smart enough to adjust and back off after that. I saw him play with his high school team a month or so ago, and he was being forced to play the post because they lost all their size from last year. Coach doesn't seem to have adjusted his offense from last year to accomodate the change in personnel. But he still made plays for himself and his teammates.
  5. There is real help coming in '13 for sure. I've seen Hawkins play down here for the last four years. He can go. Has no real weakness and can take over and dominate at any time. He's extremely undervalued. Texas is LOADED in the 2013 class, and he's right there with the best of them. I predict we'll be a Big10 title contender before the '13 class graduates. This staff is making inroads down here, and the area is fertile with high major talent.
  6. FWIW, UTEP is a very good team. Not great, certainly not Big10 level, but a very good team nonetheless.
  7. Just joined the forum. Been in Texas for 20+ years. To hear coach Miles reiterate that he's going to recruit Texas is a BIG deal for us. He said he's been recruiting down here for a number of years with CSU. With one DFW kid committed to sign in November, that's a good sign as well.
