  1. I'm sure the university would love to put the kid at risk. Good god if he gets a concussion at NU it could permanently mess him up. Perhaps he would lose his speech etc. No way you take that chance IMO I sure as heck wouldn't put a kid in that situation.
  2. Since taking over in 2008, Bo has been the HC for 78 games with an overall record of 55-23. 18 of those games were against non BCS teams, and 10 of the wins have been against BCS teams with 4 or fewer wins. Looking into the wins and losses: Overall - 55-23 - 70.51% winning % - 18 Wins against non BCS teams BCS - 37-23 - 61.67% winning % Teams with 5+ more wins - 27-23 - 54% winning % - 1 loss to 5-7 UT Teams with 6+ more wins - 22-22 - 50% winning% - 1 loss to 6-7 NW Teams with 7+ more wins - 19-21 - 47.5% winning % - This is all teams that finished with a winning record, Bo is under .500 in these games Teams with 8+ more wins - 11-19 - 36.67% winning % - This includes Minnesota and UCLA from this season Teams with 9+ more wins - 5-16 - 23.81% winning % - This includes MSU from this season So Bo does win his 9/10 games a season, and wins 70.51% of his games, but he feasts on bad to horrible teams. He's 2 games under .500 against BCS teams that finished with a winning record. His teams don't get it done against good competition. Against teams that finish with 8 or more wins, teams that finished 8-4/8-5/8-6, Bo's teams win less than 37% of the games. That's pretty sad.
  3. Well Vegas also feels Bo will not be at NU next season and Vegas loves giving away money
  4. Bo was not the top candidate, hell we interviewed Gill and Bo you really think we went for a home run hire? We took the cheap route because TO thought he could mold bo into something he isn't.
  5. Every year we have 5-6 pud games that we essentially just have to show up for to win. Was it always this way? Not quite. But we are in the Big 10 now. Losing less than 9 games this year would be an utter flop. I would say anything less than 10-2 to 11-1 regular season is a flop considering the epic suckness of the B1G this season. We also do not play the two best teams in the B1G this season. Name the realistic candidate that would be better than Bo. Ah yes the "who can we get that is better" card that is pulled out often when showing just how mediocre we have become. The beauty is neither of us know what is realistic. We have done this before EZ I give a list and you tell me it isn't realistic someone making you feel like you have a point. IMO James Franklin Petrino Tressel Moglia with the highest paid assistants in the NCAA for starters. Luckily I am not a coaching search firm nor the AD that makes these decisions.
  6. An informal poll of 120 D1 athletic directors might not support that statement. They would also say that getting curb stomped yearly on national television is cause for concern...
  7. Seems like I've heard this story before. every year for 6 years
  8. but Bo is 3-9 to the last 12 top 25 teams we played! We are ELITE

  10. Darlington has a speech impediment from his concussions. The thought process of not taking one because you have Armstrong and Stanton is also silly considering both have had health issues regarding their knees. Odds are not that good on Darlington ever playing football again. So now we will sit with a Soph and Freshman QB to run our offense next season both of who have had knee problems.
  11. You often hear people mention how we are one of 4 teams to win 9+ games the last 5 seasons. They mention our company of Alabama, Oregon and Boise St. I figured we would take a closer look at these numbers and see if they still stack up Alabama 3 National Championships 2 Conference Titles 4 BCS bowl appearances Final Rank 6,1,10,1,1 Oregon 1 National Title Appearance 3 Conference Titles 4 BCS bowl appearances Final Rank 10,11,3,4,2 Boise State 1 BCS bowl appearance 4 Conference Titles 1 undefeated season Final Rank 11,4,9,8,18 Nebraska 0 BCS appearances 0 Conference Titles Final Rank UR,14,20,24,25 To take it another step W/L and % Alabama 61-7 89.7% Oregon 56-10 84.8% Boise St 61-5 92% Nebraska 48-20 70.5%
  12. This has got to stop. These two coaching situations are mutually exclusive. I am unsure what is right for this program at this moment, but fear of 2003 is not influencing my way of thinking and I pray to God it isn't Eichorst. I also really wish we'd fired Osborne back in the 80s when he just couldn't get it done. Think of how great our team could have been without him. You guys clamoring to replace Bo are what's crazy. He's essentially got a freshman football team out there and has a good shot at going 10-3 and winning a bowl game. Yes losing sucks. But give the man time to get it right. Yep. Should have fired that coach in the 80s. The one with 7 conference championships, two close losses in NC clinching games, and perennially ranked in the Top Ten (sometimes Top 5). Calling that the same situation as right now is what is crazy. Also, do you struggle with reading comprehension? I said I wasn't sure what should be done, I didn't call for Bo's firing. you forgot to mention the seven straight embarrassing bowl losses too florida st. and miami!! Most people were getting tired of consistently losing BIG games in the 80's and early 90's but there werent forums then too make it as well known! Were those losses any closer than 09 texas? the simple fact that you have to reach to 2009 and a roster full of NFL talent that was recruited by Callahan should speak volumes to the state of our program....
  13. why does nebraska have to be relevant to cheer for them? Maybe you should ask the 91k people that buy season tickets. They do not do it because they enjoy watching us lose. With your logic we may as well all become Iowa fans and support moral victories. what exactly is my logic? i dont see a correlation between relevancy and being a fan. i couldnt care less what others think (relevancy) of the team i cheer for. so why exactly does nebraska need to be relevant to cheer for them? Well lets see, national perception DOES matter. Recruits watch TV (crazy I know) Believe it or not if we were never relevant we would not have a 91k stadium and millions of dollars put into practice facilities and lifting facilities. We do all of these things to be relevant. Sure you can still cheer for them if you wish but our program is built and funded to be relevant on the national stage. I guess I do not see the point you are trying to make? You can cheer for a crappy team if you wish feel free. I cheer just as you do but have noticed a trend taking place in Lincoln that is making a portion of the fanbase apathetic. When this happens and the losses do not hurt as they used to you will see an even larger decline in Lincoln because fans will care less.
  14. The location excuse is getting old....EZ-E knows recruiting and he should know that Lincoln, NE has always been located exactly where it is. It is not like we used to have beaches and sunny weather year round before Bo got here. We have ALWAYS recruited nationally. We have also usually held our own in the 500 mile radius. This staff has done a terrible job in that regard. What do you expect when your recruiting coordinator was a solich assistant for so many years though.

  16. I do not think anyone here is expecting us to be in the MNC every year. What is expected is that we are competitive with our peers. Or I guess what we should consider our peers. In my opinion that is top 15 teams. We have resources etc that should allow us to destroy 8 of the 12 teams in our conference. UCLA puts little to nothing in their program like we do. Look at our facilities and fan support. Now look at our recruiting class ranking and coaching staff. The two things do not match up. Bo is paid 3 mil a year to win titles not celebrate moral victories and get embarrassed yearly on national television. Regardless of how many injuries we had there is still no reason to lose to Minnesota as well as an extremely overrated MSU team. The UCLA game is also no excuse because these injuries were not nearly as glaring. Same crap different year. I refuse to make excuses regardless of injuries etc. Bo said all you can ask of your team is to play with passion and heart....I guess that is a load of crap in my opinion. You can ask them to play sound football and hold onto the ball. But those obviously are not as important as passion and heart. There is a reason we are -28 in turnovers in Bo's tenure at NU.
  17. Because they are no the same regardless of what a poster tries to say to make themselves feel like we are relevant as we were then.
  18. In those situations did said coach ever win their conference or, in Fulmer's case, a National Championship? To go one step further. Are you telling me that a coach cannot look at the B1G and think wow all I have to do at NU is beat Wisconsin and then take a shot at tOSU to get to the playoffs and take a shot at a MNC. If/When Bo is let go lets see what other blue blood picks him up as HC. Just like Solich, he ended up at Ohio. You didnt see a big time school want anything to do with him.
  19. Bo is a paper tiger. Look at his W's they are craptastic. The national media has even released articles saying we are no longer on an upward trend. Guess what we do if the next HC is not the answer? We hire another one until we find the right fit. That is football if you want to play with the big boys. You honestly cannot think that we have a snowballs chance in hell of competing with the likes of Bama, FSU, Oregon etc. Hell we cant even compete with the likes of UCLA, S. Carolina, Georgia. We struggle with teams like Minnesota and Northwestern. We are no where near elite status and Bo has gotten us no where. 0 conference champions, 0 bcs births, 0 top 10 finishes, 0 top 10 recruiting classes. We have top 10 fan support and facilities and not a top 10 coaching staff. EXPECT MORE and do not let Bo lower your expectations!
  20. And all of those players are playing BECAUSE......we failed to recruit worth a crap and had no one else but freshman to play after injury. We are Solich part 2 right now. Decent starters and little depth.
  21. As a fan or writer, its not our job to come up with a solution. Two well paid people at NU (Perlman and Shawn) have to figure out how to fix this and what is best for Nebraska in the long run. Even if he gave a suggestion to fix it, what credentials does he have to back up such a statement? exactly, he is simply posing a question on what our expectations as fans should be. He clearly states that he expects more than what we have accomplished under Pelini. Now it is up to you to decide if you enjoy mediocrity and embarrassment or if instead you prefer to strive for excellence and take a calculated risk. Time for the what if we hire another Callahan post to pop up now. Answer: What if we dont? I disagree. If he can pose the question, he can also answer it. But from reading his articles in the past most people would agree that he doesn't care for Bo and if Bo left tomorrow Dirk would be a happy camper. He has as much credibility to offer his opinion as we do. He expects more but doesn't offer a solution as to how to achieve that expectation. I would respect him more as a writer if he would be bold and state what he would like to see happen. I get tired of people complaining on both sides of the issue but not coming up with any solutions. I will give you a solution. Clean house. Pay a coach whatever we need to to get him to come here. Bring a blank check to your negotiations. It is not like we are hurting for cash at all. There is your solution and it is not complicated. In regards to his question I expect more from Nebraska than embarrassing losses and completely falling apart every year for 6 years. I expect our fans to stand up and cheer and not tell others to sit down at games. I expect a team that plays sound fundamental and physical football. A team that does not beat itself and actually executes. Funny how the word Bo loves the most he has yet to accomplish in 6 years.
  22. how many HC were there in that time span? You have to kiss a few toads before you find the right one.
