  1. Maybe Riley and the RB coach need to take a look at this video so they may get an appreciation for what Adam Taylor can do so they can do something to encourage him to reach his potential. I can just imagine how discouraged Adam may be having not touched the ball in a game for over 2 years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NP_zQYt9o2w The coaches may think they have an idea of what Adam can do, but after watching this maybe it could open their eyes as to what his potential really is if given the opportunity. Not giving him the opportunity to be productive is the fastest way to have the door closed to the Huskers for any future opportunities to recruit others from a great high school program.
  2. As the new season approaches, I have been popping in a little bit ... trying to get a heads-up on how Adam Taylor is doing. Has he recovered from his broken foot and regained his confidence? How is he stacking up against the stable of able RBs the Huskers have in the fold for this year? It sure has to be tough on a player like Adam to "red shirt" a year and then miss another year due to an injury. Hope he gets some play time this year as it would be hard on him mentally not being able to play for such an extended period of time. Thanks in advance for anyone in the know that could bring us Katy folks up to speed on Adam. I can't remember if I posted this or not, but this is the 8th grade video of Deondrick Glass, the 14 yr old freshman RB,QB, WR coming into the Katy Football Program. Kid has crazy good football skills, but with a nick-name of "showtime" we may have to give him an extra helping of "humble pie" or he might not be able to fit in with the "team first attitude" that is mandatory if you want to play at Katy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzSgMHKYJvY Hope the Huskers have a relatively injury free pre-season.
  3. I just saw this kids 8th grade Football highlight video on the Katy Tiger Katy message board and thought I would share it with ya'll. The Husker coaching staff has an open door to the Katy Athletic Dept as one of Katy's finest RBs, Adam Taylor is now a Husker competing for a starting position on this years team. It just might be a good time for new coach Riley to give Katy coach Joseph a social call and bring him up to speed on Adam's progress ... and while he has coach Joseph on the phone Riley might ask for a "heads-up on this incoming freshman Deondrick Glass. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzSgMHKYJvY It might be a little early, but this kid at the ripe old age of 14 is displaying some crazy good football skills. Personally, I would love to see this kid at the QB position as Katy seems to have a never ending stable of RBs. Deondrick's Jr. High teammates refer to him as "showtime" and I would have to agree that would be a proper description for him. The word on the street is that some other Texas powerhouse teams are recruiting him to come play at their schools. The Allen Eagles are rumored to have offered his Dad a job up in the Dallas area, but it is not going to work. The Eagles are only offering a per-diem that would only cover a one bedroom apartment while we here at Katy are offering a ranch complete with cattle and an unlimited water supply. A little humor on the recruiting

  8. I don't know how far out ya'll are looking, but I just watched this video of an incoming freshman. I don't have any stats as far as size, weight, speed, but from his 8th grade video if he stays healthy and progresses thru the Katy program he will be a force to be reckoned with by the time he is ready to go to the next level. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzSgMHKYJvY With Adam Taylor now being a Husker, your coaching staff has an open door with Katy's HC Gary Joseph. Wouldn't hurt to give the season about a month and then touch base with Coach Joseph. You could bring coach Joseph up to speed on how former Katy RB and now Husker RB Adam Taylor is doing and then ask if he would give a heads-up on young Deondrick.
  9. Enhance89 ... I would imagine with the decades long history of running out of the "I" formation, I would imagine he would be used as a RB. I, however, with the abundance of running backs Katy traditionally has, I would like to see him at QB. That would add a whole new dimension to our offense. With the talent and skills this kid has he could be effectice at a number of positions. The Katy coaching staff puts the talent where it is needed. I've seen them put a top notch QB at a DB position. The players and their parents trust the Coaches to do what is best for the team. The coaches do not embrace super stars and setting records. They embrace and drill into the players a team first attitude and winning championships. Oh, I had a senior moment there and forgot about the conference change ... maybe I need to get with XLBDER and have a few adult beverages
  10. On the future of Husker RB's ... you might want to get out in front of this kid from Katy. You have one of our finest in Adam Taylor. You missed out on Rodney Anderson (went to the Sooners) he will haunt ya'll one day. Now here comes Deondrick Glass ... QB, RB, wide out. This is his 8th grade video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzSgMHKYJvY Our (Katy HS) recruiting seems to be working. His father was offered a job in Allen TX. to play for the Allen Eagles, but their per diem was only enough to get a one Bedroom apt. Here in Katy we offer a ranch with some cattle
  11. Mavric Just got this from the Katy Tiger message board on #5 RB Kyle Porter. Has not made any committment, but has been getting offers from some of the "big guns". I'm sure the list will grow very fast after the season begins. He will be a good one. Get after him. But wasn't this a defensive thread??? Kyle Porter- Offers from Baylor, Cal, Illinois, Arkansas, UH, Maryland,Oregon, TCU, Tennessee, Texas
  12. Hey Mavric ... how have you been doing? About Kyle Porter ... Last I heard he has not made any committment but has been offered by Oregon and some others. Kid has speed to burn along with all the other skills needed at the next level. I would definately make a run at him ... I think he is open. He will be the work horse this year and will get a lot of attention real soon. You don't want to be one of those "Johnny come lately" kind of programs. The way the Huskers approached Adam Taylor with the straight up ... no back door offer is how you get him. Also find out if #5 on your roster is taken. Get him up there for a game with seats in the loud and rowdy section (well, that's the whole stadium). Maybe get him down on the field so he can chat with Adam ... you never know. This is important to these Katy players ... since they have been in grade school, they have been dreaming about being able to play in RED in front of a full house that looks like the Red Sea. Might sound silly to some ... but here it is real ... they really believe there is power in RED.
  13. Power'T ... no offense taken. I like to post up here every now and then. A lot of good football folks on this board ... I'm just not as up to speed on all things "HUSKER" as most of ya'll are. Ya'll just need to get Coach Riley to give Katy Coach Joseph a social call as it seems like the entire starting defense will be playing at the next level and I'd hate for the Huskers miss out on some good talent. The Husker Coaching staff has an open door here at Katy and they need to take advantage of it. It will be a long term investment. Another little known fact along with the message board is that Katy has a "selective breeding program" to insure we have high caliber football talent for decades to come ... we try to keep it quiet though. But I think the word on the "selective breeding" has gotten out some how. I've noticed the Katy Athletic Dept. is now renting spaces for RVs in the field house parking lot and there are about six big class A coaches parked out there all the time. By looking at the decals on them, it appears like Oklahoma, LSU, Alabama. U.of Washington, Oregon and Baylor have set up permanent recruiting offices so they won't miss anything. Now that is ridiculous! Now if you believe all that ... I've got some swamp land I've been trying to sell that we could get together and talk about I didn't mean ridiculous in a bad way. More like a "that's crazy" kind of way. I would love to go see a game thats for sure. Texas high school ball is king in the states for that level. Good Luck to the Katy football team this season!
  14. Question for you kccbcandyman: Do you teach tackling in Katy? If so, yes we need some defensive talent, per Chris Spielman. huKSer At Katy we do not tackle ... we use nets and booby traps. That is more effective and safer for our defensive players. If the nets and traps are not working we bring out the baseball bats. Also saves us money in not having to rebuild the pads every year Seriously ... Katy year in and year out has the most effective and stingey defenses in the state. Coach Joseph is one of the finest defensive tactictions you will find any where.
  15. Here is a video highlight of KATY DE Corey Bethley 6'-2" @ 250Lb. He will be a junior this year. This video is from his soph yr. Notice how he doesn't give up on any plays ... he follows the play and plays to the whistle. Many DE may tend to give up on a play that goes to the other side of the field. Corey has a little mean streak in him, pretty good footwork and uses his hands well in getting off blocks. Still growing and with the Katy strength and conditioning program, he will be a monster in a couple years http://www.hudl.com/athlete/5095830/highlights/234487382/v2 Oh ya, almost forgot ... he likes to play in RED in front of a packed house of loud and sometimes rowdy fans who know how to make noise on 3rd downs
  16. powerT... Having a high school football message board ain't ridiculous. It is a great thing to help build traditions ... just like the Huskers. Katy has a strong following, they travel well to support their boys in RED, the fans get there early and stay loud, they play in front of a full house, they play in RED, they run a ground pounding offense out of the "I" formation, they play to the whistle, they represent their school and community well ... and they win, and win, and win. Gee ... kind of sounds like I was talking about the Nebraska Cornhuskers except on a smaller scale ... thought you would just love that. And the unis are almost identical too. remember that old song ... "I want to be like you ... Dad"
  17. Kyle Porter, last I heard has not committed, but has an offer from Oregon and a host of others. He has speed to burn and ran in the same backfield with Adam Taylor. Kyle will be the featured back this year. Youtube has some of his highlights. He won't last long, so if you like what you see, you need to move fast. This year it seems like many of the players going to the next level are committing early so they can focus on winning another championship as we have lost in the championship game the last 2 years. Most teams would consider that a great season, but at Katy that is considered a fail. So this will be a redemption year for Katy. If the O-line can hold and build some depth we will make another run. First time in over a decade we actually are having to rebuild instead of just reloading the O-line. And ColoradoHusk ... we have had a message board since 2003. That was the year Katy beat that legendary Southlake Carroll team featuring Chase Daniel (QB that went to Missouri) in the State Championship game 16-15. If you want to see how seriously Katy takes it's football go to google earth and enter 6331 Highway Blvd, Katy, TX. in the search box. Then zoom down and count the football practice fields. You will notice the field on the west has artificial turf. The weight room and train facilities are better than most D-1 universities. If you are ever in the neighborhood drop by the field house and ask anyone there if you can see Coach Joseph ... tell them you are from Nebraska. If he is not in a meeting he will be glad to talk to you for a few minutes. He will be glad you dropped by. And be sure to let him know how Adam Taylor is doing ... he is always interested to know how his players are getting along. While you are there feel free to walk around check out the weight room. No one will even notice ... we all go over and walk around there when we are bored. It's a small town where most folks don't even lock their doors when they leave to do some shopping. By the way ... how is Adam Taylor doing after the broken ankle ... must be hard on him not being on the field for so long.
  18. I have no idea how your defensive depth chart looks like, but I know the Huskers have an open door to one of the greatest football programs in Texas Football history with the Katy Tigers. And you also have one of Katy's finest up there in Adam Taylor. I've been reading a thread on the Katy Tiger message board about their players that are getting offers and it seems like every starter on next years defense has multiple offers. Just might be time to have new Coach Riley give Katy head coach Joseph a social call. He could bring Coach Joseph up to date on how Adam is doing and inquire about his group of defensive players. Baylor, Oklahoma, Oregon, U. of Washington, U of Houston ... just to name a few are all in there making offers and getting some committments. This is the link to the thread that talks about the players, offers and commitments. Never too late to get in the game. The guy I like the most is Corey Bethley ... DE ... Soph ... 6'-2" @ 250 and has a little mean streak. And all these guys know Adam and some played with him on that 2012 state Championship team. http://www.katytrain.com/index.php?p=/discussion/1540/potential-next-level-players-football#latest
  19. I noted a few folks commenting about how Oregon runs the zone and being a total novice on the Xs and Os ... I have no idea what running the zone be it inside or outside. But Oregon is making a hard run at one of Adam Taylor's teamates ... Kyle Porter. Univ. of Texas, Baylor, LSU, one of the Oklahoma big 12 and a host of other football powers have made offers. I have no idea if Katy runs any version of the zone. Some of ya'll may know by watching his soph year highlights in this link. Kyle Porter has speed and also runs track . If new coach Riley has an interest ... he can get Katy Coach Joseph's # from Adam.
  20. Davis seems like a solid position coach with a solid background. He appears to be the kind of coach the players could be drawn to and trust. That kind of bond between the players and coach can pay big dividends. I'm impressed by Davis in the video and might just post that video on the Katy message board. I know the Huskers have a ton of talent at the RB position, but they may want to take a look at Katy's featured Rb for next season, Kyle Porter. Kyle already has offers from Oregon, Texas, Baylor and about 5 other big name schools. Maybe Kyle will see the Davis video ... you never know This is kyle Porter #5 ... soph. season https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0ay7xivW1s
  21. Haven't heard anything about the Husker RB position lately, but I did run across this on the Katy Tiger Board a few days ago. I'm not totally up to speed on all the RBs, but don't disagree with any of this commentary except the "knee injury" which was qactually an ankle injury. What do ya'll think of this analysis? ............................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Let's see what we've got: Leaving: Just one. Ameer Abdullah. sh#t. Okay, I'm fine now, let's move on. Returning: Four RB's and one occasionally blocking but mostly ignored FB Imani Cross - Sr - 215 career carries in three seasons, 5.4 YPC despite mostly being used in short yardage, had NU's longest carry from scrimmage in 2014 Terrell Newby - Jr - 121 carries, only 4.4 YPC in 2014 Adam Taylor - Soph - returning from a knee injury, ran for 2753 yards and 44 TD's as a Texas HS senior in 2012 Mikale Wilbon - RFr - 4-star RB from Chicago, Rivals250, turned heads on scout team in 2014 Andy Janovich - Sr - FB. Basically obsolete. Really wish we'd tried this kid at LB. .........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
  22. I'm personally high on Taylor because I've had the pleasure of being able to watch him play 3 yrs at Katy HS. And I know how he comes back after an injury (ACL). And he can block with the best of them ... you have to if you want to play at Katy. He is relentless about his training and conditioning. And as he always says on the field you have to step-up. When ever the Katy Tigers needed it he was the go to guy and he always delivered. He is dead serious about how he plays the game ... no smack talk or jive when he is on the field ... just hard nosed running. And when you need a yard ... he is the RB that will get it for you. Take another look at this video. Early you will see he took a big shot to the head, his helmet came flying off ... and still watch how he kept moving the pile. I'll put my money on Adam every day and come game time you will be happy LSU screwed up and Adam told them to shove it. I would have loved to see the faces on the LSU coaching staff if they ever had a chance to watch this video ... they probably looked like a 10 year old kid that just dropped his ice cream cone and watched it get run over by a city bus. Keep me updated on the RB progress. Us Katy folks are eager to hear how he is doing up there. And I guess I need to thank ya'll for getting him some good cold weather gear since it is obvious he made it thru 2 winters already. I assume he has adapted to the cold weather up there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NP_zQYt9o2w I'll be checking in ... GO BIG RED
  23. Is there some video clips we can post of Taylor here so we can get reacquainted with him? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NP_zQYt9o2w Don't want to be petty or a "Debbie Downer" here but Adam's stats for his senior year are: 2668 yds and 44 TD's. Adam comes back with a vengence after an injury ... you will like what you see 2,478 rushing yards and 39 touchdowns IN ONE SEASON
  24. warrior10 ... Thanks for the heads up on Adam. The Katy Nation has been awaiting his return to the gridiron. If you have any other info about Adam, please post it up here and I'll pass it along. Thanks
  25. Hey there Baytown ... ya the Huskers missed a golden opportunity with Rodney, especially with his receiving skills. However he is now a Sooner at Oklahoma. Also Rodney Anderson has a younger brother coming up thru the Katy Program who was QB on one of the freshman teams(Katy has so many kids in the football program that they have 3 freshman teams). If younger brother has just half the natural skills Rodney has ... Katy will be hell on wheels in a couple years. And get this ... there is another brother behind that one. There is a little secret at Katy HS ... we have a genetic breeding program to keep feediong the football program. This is getting off into the weeds a little ... but you may have heard of some Katy players with the last name "Atwood". The Atwood family has 4 sons who have all played at Katy HS ... and all 4 boys are wearing "State Championship Rings" today ... what are the odds of that happening. By the way ... you might ask the new Head Coach to give Katy Head Coach Gary Joseph a social call and give him an update on how Adam is doing up there ... would go a long way in keeping the recruiting door open. As you know ... the Katy Football program is one of the most respected and successful in the history of Texas HS football. You get a Katy player to Lincoln, Take him to a game and he sees a packed house and the "Red Sea" and you have a player that thinks he is already at home. Players at Katy believe there is power in RED. Jeeze, sorry but I find myself rambling. Must be the LOF factor. (Lack Of Football). It always hits me this time of year.
