  1. TGHusker ... Many of us here at Katy have noticed the similarities as Katy runs out of the "I formation" most of the time and we are known for our ground game. Katy has had the same offense for decades ... student body left, student body right and right up main street. Few teams here in Texas have bveen able to stop the Katy Tiger ground game. The unis along with the offense reminds me of some of the Husker teams of the past ... especially when Mike Rozier was running the ball.. Looking forward to see Adam this year. Knowing how he responds to adversity, I'm sure he will be ready when it's time to tee-it up.
  2. How is Adam Taylor doing after coming back from the broken ankle? After watching him play after coming back from a torn ACL at Katy HS (small town 35 mi. west of Houston) I would assume he will do the same with the Huskers and be bigger, stronger, faster, more focused and determined to be better than before. For those of you that have not seen this before ... this is the highlight video of the 2012 Texas 5A division II State Championship game a year after Adam tore his ACL. I call this "The Adam Taylor v Cedar Hill Video" This is big time Texas HS Football in the highest classification. Take note of how Adam handles things ... no jive, no smack talk, no chest pumping ... just business. And yes ... 35 carries/ 275yds. /5 TDs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NP_zQYt9o2w Haven't posted for a while, but will be checking in from time to time ... GO BIG RED!!!
  3. Atbone95 ... too bad I was not more on the ball. But I got a good laugh about trying to keep him off the ice. If anyone can get back in thwe game ... it is Adam, He's done it before with more serious injuries and he will show you how it's done. He is one of the most determined players you will find any where. Thanks again for the info ... I'll pass it along to the Katy Nation as I don't think many have heard about it yet. And don't mention anything about tips on driving in the snow to Bussey. Just mentioning that it snows a lot up there in the winter might blow up his committment ... LOL
  4. Warrior ... thanks for the info. I'll have to check that part of the forum. I had not heard about Adam's injury. That is really bad news. But knowing Adam he will rehab fast and come back even stronger. He has a ton of heart as we all witnessed with his ACL rehab. How long ago did his injury occur? What was the specific injury so I can post the info on the Katy board. Thanks and would appreciate some details on his injury. The Candyman Katy, TX.
  5. What does the starting line-up for the offensive backfield going to look like to start the season this year?
  6. Just kidding about the snow. From what I've read about this kid, it sounds like he is a pretty solid Husker in waiting. A lot of folks get nervous knowing it is a long way to signing day. With Bussey it appears he as well as his family are committed ... so I would sit back and relax and wait for the show to start. The show will be worth waiting for ... you have a solid QB with Taylor and Bussey running the ball ... who could ask for more?
  7. I just hope no one tells him it snows a lot up in Lincoln during the winter ... that could blow the whole deal ... LOL
  8. Seems like as soon as a RB commits to the Huskers these national ranking outfits lower the ratings for the player. Remember what they did to Adam Taylor's rating. Then after his incredible performance in the Texas State Championship Game that year ... a few gave him another star ... but not near what he was worth. With both Bussey and Taylor in the backfield you will have a true "Thunder and Lightening" combination. With a very capable QB along with Bussey and Taylor ... all you need to do is concentrate on the "Beef" up front and a few receivers ... then it will be lights out. Might have to invest in a scoreboard that can accommodate triple digit scoring ... LOL.
  9. Bussey would be a perfect fit for that Red Raider offense with his speed and cutting ability. It's a long time till signing day ...
  10. Just heard that Rodney Anderson just committed to Oklahoma.
  11. Just a soph. Time for the Huskers to start building a pipeline into one of the nations finest HS football programs programs. If you wait till he is a senior he will already be committed.
  12. Well, if you are short on scholarships for this next year ... you may want to look a little further down the road and take a look at Kyle Porter ... Katy RB #5. This was last years video ... can't remember how many TDs he had, but he racked up 2,000 yds splitting time with Rodney Anderson. He will be a junior this year ... this was his soph year video He also runs track. With Kyle and Rodney in the backfield Katy should make another run at the Championship Game again. Kyle has a little more speed than Rodney Kyle Porter RB #5 soph video
  13. I watched some of Bussey's video and he is cat quick, but when you need 2 yds for a 1st will he have the power to get that extra yard. How is he on pass protection. Rodney Anderson is kind of like Adam Taylor except he has excellent pass receiving skills and may be a bit faster than Adam. Also, as well as Adam , he is well versed in pass pro. I'm not saying don't go after Bussey, but surely don't pass on an opportunity to get Anderson ... could turn out to be another Adam TAylos with a couple other bells and whistles thrown in for good measure. Add to that ... he has 2 youngwer brothers who also play football. Talk about building a pipeline to some great power "I backs" and one of the best football programs in the country. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAg1Tazwlqo This is a video of Rodney Anderson's home life when a local sports reported paid him a visit at home. Look at the amount of offers he has received ... no wonder he stays quiet about his future football plans.
  14. This is a video of Rodney Anderson's soph. yr, highlights. Could not find last years highlights ... but as you can imagine, he is bigger , faster and stronger. Last year (his junior yr.) he went for 2,000yds rushing and about 35TDs while missing 5 games with a broken foot. He also had quite a few yds receiving as well as punt returns. If there is room on the roster and there are a few schollies left ... the coaches would be foolish not to make a run at him. He committed to Texas A & M and then just recently de-committed. And it has been very quiet here about what he wants to do at the next level. Rodney Anderson's soph. yr. highlight video
  15. I understand that at a recent strength and conditioning testing session Adam bench pressed 425lbs and wanted to go for more weight but the coaches stopped him fearing he may injure himself. Quite an accomplishment for a RB. FYI ... at the Katy lift-a-thon last year about this time Adam benched 395 and wanted more weight but the coaches stopped him from adding more for the same reason. Looks like he will be ready to be carrying the rock this next year.
  16. zeWilbur ... Rodney is the kind of player you make room for. Along with his natural talent, he comes with many intangibles coaches dream of and that is attitude, discipline, team first attitude, conditioning, academics, mental toughness. He is the player your defense would not like to face in a big game. Tell your recruiters and coaches to make the call!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Just heard about it today and have not had a chance to find out what happened. Here is the thread on the Katy Message Board that is talking about it. Copy and paste the link below. Some of ya'll might even register and make a few positive posts and ask a few questions and show some interest in him. Keep in mind that Rodney reads this message board but never posts on the board. The other Katy "faithful" that also read this board would like to know if the Huskers have a real and sincere interest in him. They would also like to hear about how Adam is doing up there in Lincoln. Show some real interest, be polite and you never know. I'm sure Rodney wants to play at a quality football program at the next level. He, like Adam likes to play in RED in front of a full house of loud and sometimes rowdy crowd ... which the Huskers have done for over 300 straight home games. Also much like Katy except on a larger scale, has a long standing tradition of football excellence. Time to let him know how welcome he would be in Lincoln and how well he would fit into your offense. Also he and Adam Taylor are good friends. The Huskers have a lot going for them as far as recruiting him ... the colors, the crowd, the tradition and your head coach has an open door to the Katy Program. Would be a real shame not to capitalize on it. That being said ... I would think it is time for the Husker Head Coach to give Katy Head Coach Gary Joseph a friendly call ... of course to bring him up to speed on how Adam Taylor is doing and also see if he can get some info abvout Rodney Anderson. Rodney has uncanny running skills along with exceptional receiving skills. And as we all know here in Katy ... Rodney is a game changer and will bring a whole new dimension to your offense http://www.katytrain.com/index.php?p=/discussion/1179/rodney039s-big-news#Item_5
  18. Collin Wilder #27 DB returns KO for TD. Also watch for RB #5 Kyle Porter
  19. We have some young guns that can really bring the leather. One is Collin Wilder (soph) who played as a frosh. He already has an offer from Texas Tech. Don't know if he has committed or not. Another is Sy Slater. Both are 6' @ 180. Wilder will be a Jr next year and Slater will be a senior. Have your coach give Gary Joseph (Katy Head Coach) a call to give him an update on Adam Taylor and while he is talking with Coach Joseph he might inquire about these 2 DBs. I'm no football talent expert, but I believe these 2 DBs have the skill sets to go to the next level. They would be worth taking a look at. Since Adam is up there and from what I can tell ... seems happy, it would be easy to get them to come up for a visit. Then get them to a game with a packed house and a sea of red would make them feel just like they were at home. All these kids that come out of Katy all have the "team first attitude" and play hard till the whistle blows. And they all have been well coached and are "coachable". Another thing is they have all played in big games so they won't be like a deer in the headlights when they play in front of a big loud crowd. They have been there and done that many times in houston at reliant Stadium and in Dallas at Cowboy Stadium. I don't know if they have any highlight videos, but I'll check and post them here if I can find any. The one I really like is Collin Wilder. Kid is football smart, has adequate speed and likes contact. Played as a freshman which does not happen very often at Katy. Your Head Coach has an open door to the Katy program ... get him to use it. Could pay big dividends.
  20. Good to know and I'll pass it along. We had a little snow here yesterday and a ton of black ice the day before. Had 600 collisions on Monday because of the ice on the roads. All the freeways were a mess ... cars, trucks, busses sliding all over the place and slamming into each other. A real nightmare. Keep an eye on Katy RB Klye Porter (will be a junior)... racked up almost 2000yds running behind Rodney Anderson. Kyle is more of a slashing type of runner. If we can reload some on the O-line and both can stay healthy we could have two 2,000yd RBs in the same backfield and maybe another Championship. Let Adam know we are still following his progress. Thanks for the heads-up
  21. Looks like Rodney Anderson's committment to Texas A & M if very firm. Here is the link to an article where he talks at length about A & M. He will have a big impact at A & M. Just like Adam Taylor will have at Nebraska. Next up at the RB spot at Katy is junior to be Kyle Porter who is already getting offers. http://vype.com/houston/2014/01/14/the-game-recruiting-process-has-gone-next-level/
  22. And on top of all that ... he is a good kid with all the intangibles that can not be taught and focussed on getting faster bigger and stronger. Like I said of this board a year ago ... He will do the Husker Nation proud. Keep me posted on this young man. I will be watching and following. It will be fun watching him play next year in RED in front of a packed house.
  23. Warrior10 ... thanks for the info & pics. Katy sure could have used Adam in this years Championship game. Katy lost by 10 pts. ... turned the ball over twice in the 4th qtr inside our own 20 yd. line. Can't do that and come out on top ... we will be back next year.
  24. Seems as though Newby has lost some of the luster. What is ya'll take on him based on his performance this year. .......A) totally disappionted .......B) some what disappionted .......C) he seemed to do OK .......D) did very well considering his 1st year .......E) he was lights-out, as advertised Are the Huskers interested in looking to Katy for more power RBs in the future??? Reason I ask is that I as well as some other Katy faithful would love to see more of our players continue to play in RED in front of a packed house at the next level. And Lincoln, Nebraska would be a preferred location for to happen.
  25. This is what it will look like next when Adam carries the rock ...BAM, BAM, BAM
