  1. I plan on bringing the wife and daughter up from San Diego day of the game. Would love to hang out with HuskerBoard members...especially any who read/liked my book "No Place Like Nebraska: Anatomy of an Era" from last year. GBR!!
  2. If Nebraska wants Sanders & we can't beat out a high school team for his services, then there's a serious problem. There is a certain quality of life that Marvin may enjoy in California. There is a reason 8 kajillion people live there. No so fast, my friend. It ain't all it's made out to be...people are leaving as fast as the illegals are coming across the border
  3. Thanks VA Husker Fan! If you could....if EVERYBODY who has the book could... please give the book a rating on Amazon.com, will you? I'd appreciate having all of you guys's opinions and comments and ratings up there on the site. Right now there are a measly 3, but at least they are all 5 star ratings. It looks like I put my mom, my wife and little sister up to it. LOL The more ratings the better. Thanks so much...keep the comments and reactions coming...I have a few surprises scattered throughout the book.
  4. Anyone do anymore reading lately? I'd love to hear your thoughts and comments.
  5. When you guys get into the book, will you please give me some feedback? Many thanks!
  6. knapplc, I went to the page from when I last ordered and there was a button to check on shipping status...hopefully you can do the same. GBR!
  7. Hi knapplc, I've got Createspace handling all the handling (pardon the pun) so you'll probably get the fastest solution by contacting them directly. You ordered both and only Volume 1 showed up? That ain't right! Let me know if you hit a wall and don't get your questions answered, will you? Thanks. And I'm the same as you...I like the old-school version the best.
  8. The KINDLE Edition has arrived and is available! Below are the links...as they are not hooked up with the hard copy on the website yet. ***And if you are a Huskerboard member you will receive the special Huskerboard Discount of 40% off the Kindle edition. To get the discount code simply message me on Huskerboard here and I will pass along the discount code to you. (Please keep this info to yourself though, as I don't want my publishing house's account to go negative. LOL) "No Place Like Nebraska: Anatomy of an Era" Kindle edition links: Vol 1. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EJT8MSA Vol 2. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EJWCYDQ
  9. The interviews took place primarily between January 2009 & September 2011. I had over 150 hours worth of interviews that I had to transcribe...but they were all worth it, in my opinion.
  10. Great to hear that you are enjoying it Mr. Accountability...keep your comments flowing. They serve to inspire me and remind me why I wrote it in the first place. Thanks for your service bleedNUred. I hope it takes you back to the dirt and grass of Nebraska while you bounce around the seaways. FYI: Kindle edition may be out in a day or so. GBR!
  11. You guys have no idea how important it is for me to read your feedback as you delve into the book. Keep the conversation rolling... many thanks. The kindle version might be out in the next 24 hours...might not be absolutely perfect, but it will achieve the desired entertainment I strove for nonetheless. Please feel free to like my "No Place Like Nebraska: Anatomy of an Era Vols 1 & 2" facebook page..and share with everyone you know. GBR! By the way, it took me 4 years to write it.
  12. I'm tweaking the kindle version now. It has to be converted to a MOBI file after InDesign software is used..a real pain in the rear but hopefully worth the effort. For some reason photos and text were overlapping. As for dimensions, both volumes are 7.44" w x 9.69" h x2.5" thick and about 3.6 lbs. LOL
  13. That's very generous of you okaive. I and Team Jack thank you. Funny story, but when I first talked to Jack's father Andy we both came to realize that his boyhood neighbor was my big brother's college roommate at NU in the early 80's. And they still hunt turkey's together every year. Small world, huh? As for the paperback/hard copy thing...I would have loved some hard copy covers but the cost would have been driven up dramatically to do so...and I wanted to keep the volumes as affordable as I possibly could so everyone could enjoy them without having to bust the bank or have the old lady/old man complain that they spent too much on books LOL **Plus, I'm thinking that many people will be giving them as gifts this coming Christmas and the $24.98 price range is just about the gift giving cost that many find acceptable.....I'd love to hear yours and anybody else's comments after you get the book and would LOVE if y'all could give them a favorable review on Amazon. **By the way, just wait to you get Volume 2...it has a photo in there that only four people in the world had seen until this publishing....a little inside-the-team joke that involves a dirty little prank and the University of Oklahoma Sooners' end zone. LOL GBR!!!
  14. The Kindle edition is still working through a few kinks but I hope to have that out in the next week. As for either version, they will both be exactly the same so there are no hard choices to make. BOJ: There are over 100 chapters. Too many coaches and players and staffers to name here...but you know most of the usual suspects. Moirane: LOL Don't I wish! Okaive: I was just glad to finally finish the version I ended up with. Landloard: Let me see what I can do about a Huskerboard discount for the Kindle when it comes out. I'm trying to figure out how to do that now. Knapplc: thanks bud. You may be the first person in history to order! All Hail Knapplc!!! Just make sure you ordered both Volume 1 AND Volume 2. (They sell seperately, unfortunately)
  15. Hey guys. I did it! It's live! (Sounds like you've already heard, eh?) In any case, here is what I just posted: The wait is OVER! I proudly introduce to you over 1,500 delicious pages of 90's Husker Championship-freaking-awesomeness in "NO PLACE LIKE NEBRASKA: Anatomy of an Era, Vols. 1 & 2"! (sold separately) Many thanks to all the coaches, players,... staffers and fans for opening up their hearts to me. There will never be another book like this one. *Order from the links below (rather than the Amazon page) and your contribution to the Team Jack Foundation will DOUBLE. GBR!!! Here are the links: Volume 1: https://www.createspace.com/4365183 Volume 2: https://www.createspace.com/4371065 "Paul Koch was associated with our football program during some exceptional years and Paul has, through extensive interviews, obtained unusual insight into those years of Nebraska Football. His book provides an excellent understanding of what made those teams exceptional." –Tom Osborne
  16. Only a few days until release! My final proof copies are being delivered Wednesday/Thursday. Gonna show up with them at the world premiere of Through These Gates this Saturday in San Clemente, CA. GBR!!!
  17. I've got a collection of game-worn Husker jerseys from the 60's, 70's & 80's and wear them proudly on game day. They're reminders of the great synergy between fans and the players.
  18. Trust me, I feel your pain. Been going berserk fixing pesky little stuff...and driving my poor wife crazy. Surely it will be worth the wait... and hopefully will get very positive reviews from all Husker fans buying on Amazon. GBR!
  19. Found two small errors in the printer's proof copy. Normally this would be a bad thing and delay the book..... but instead I'm dropping the size of the font down one size and opening up additional pages to add old NU practice schedules straight from the Coaching staff, some Husker Power insider reports, and old evaluation forms from the coaches, in addition to more photos. You guys will love all this extra info! Hopefully it will be worth the wait of another week. GBR!!!
  20. Yes, for right now my plan is to make both volumes available only on my Amazon e-links for hard copy & kindle format. (The postman was supposed to deliver my final proof copies for one last look-see today but the dirty rat didn't have 'em in his bag. LOL I guess tomorrow will be the big day to make sure all is proper before releasing my babies to the world. Worst case scenario will be the end of next week...we'll see if the printer made any mistakes.) I'll post the links on here for everyone's ease as soon as we "go live". In the meantime, GBR!! And thanks for all of your support...you're gonna love it!
  21. Here is Ahman Green talking about the diverse coaching dynamic those championship years: "Q: Delving into the staff dynamic, do any of the other coaches stick out to you? AG: Coach Charlie McBride was great. I don’t know what it was, but he liked me a lot. He probably wished I played defense. I remember before I came out for the NFL, I could hear him yelling at Coach Osborne -which is hilarious- somebody actually yelling at him, at Coach Osborne, “What’s wrong with the offense? Give the ball to Ahman!” Knowing that he had my back like that was fun because he was from Chicago and all his brothers were police officers in the Chicago area, so you knew he was nitty & gritty and knew other words that Coach Osborne probably never would have said. (laughs) Q: He was like an alter ego, huh? AG: Yeah, it was yin and yang. Coach Osborne was one side of the spectrum and Charlie McBride was the other."
  22. We're only days away from the book's release. On Monday I'll be getting my first published copy to look over and find anything that needs editing/corrections. If there are none it'll be available around Aug. 1. In the meantime, here is a little recruiting snippet from former '93 DLineman Kevin Raemakers, talking about his trip to Iowa: "Q: Hey, I swore I heard somewhere at a banquet or something that someone thought your name was Rainmakers. Do you remember that? KR: Yeah, they thought I was Indian. I’m Dutch, man. Just because I’ve got a big, fat, wide head and a big, wide nose doesn’t automatically mean I’m Indian. (laughs) When I went to Iowa the first time I met Hayden Fry. My brother and I went on the recruiting trip. We were walking around and they had a place where they meet the recruits and are shaking hands, and a lieutenant there said to Coach Fry, “Hey, this is Kevin Raemakers and his brother Mike.” And Hayden Fry looks at me and he says, “Rainmakers? You know, you sure don’t look Indian.” And I thought, ‘What?!’ My brother looked at me and mumbled, “Who is this a-hole?” (laughs) Hilarious."
  23. They'll come out at the same time, okaive. About a week from today, if all goes according to plan. (crossing fingers) Thanks for asking...this has been a profound labor of love. Here is another first sneak peek for everybody on Huskerboard: the back cover and some of the people/blurbs recommending its authenticity:
  24. Thanks for the tips, guys. I'll see if I can have that taken care of. I'd noticed the same thing but wasn't sure if it would matter to people. There will be 2 volumes, both of equal size. It was a huge undertaking to provide the numerous untold insights into the makings of those championship years, and just one book could not properly tell the story. They're gonna look great sitting side-by-side in many a Husker fan's bookshelf. GBR!!!
