  1. Is this an assessment of the talent on their roster? I do recall looking back and seeing Baylor's team recruiting rankings were consistently in the 30 to 40 range. If that is true, it appears that Leipold may be getting more out of his talent than Rhule did.
  2. I would actually prefer Deboer over Fickell but would be good with either.
  3. When you look at Leipold's career head coaching record, he has done well at all 3 stops. He turned around Buffalo (as Rhule did at Temple) and he is in the process of turning around Kansas which is no short task (which Rhule did at Baylor). He apparently developed a good reputation as a strong recruiter while at UNO as an assistant. 4. Flight Updates: There is a private flight going from Lincoln to Lawrence, KS this aftennoon. https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/jit17
  5. Klieman seems to be an ideal fit too and I think is like Pelini-Plus meaning he will consistently have good seasons sprinkled in with a couple of elite seasons. As for timing, Ole Miss plays Thursday and Cincy and NC State play Friday so Kiffin, Fickell and Doeren will be done with their regular seasons then. Utah, UCF, K-State and Washington do not play until Saturday with KSU and Washington having really late games. K-State and Washington also may both make their CCG's which happen the following weekend.
  6. Give me Deboer, Kiffin, Fickell or Klieman and I am happy. Give me Doeren, Monken. Obrien or Mendenhall and I put Trev on the short list.
  7. Not surprised. Kiffins team looked lethargic the past 2 weeks. They likely knew something was up. If I am Kiffin, I want to get out of the SEC for a while. Now if Auburn can land Kiffin just a few weeks after firing their coach, Nebraska should be able to land somebody of an equal or better caliber given we have had an extra month.
  8. Great find. It sounds like he is really eager to get back to coaching. Perhaps this was said due to many articles speculating he did not need to coach again due to his large salary from Carolina. Hearing this interview makes me excited about Rhule and having a guy that LOVES the game.
  9. Can we all slow down on the comments for a bit? Back on page 426 I predicted a new coach would be named on Page 678.
  10. Aren't these the same boosters that wanted Frost fired 2 games before we could have saved $7.5M?
  11. A few questions that need to be asked at the press conference when Trev announces the new hire: 1. Were you able to get your first choice? 2. Did money play a role in your final decision?
  12. Well if that is true, then Trev should have waited til October 1 to fire Frost and that could have paid for at least a couple years of expensive assistants!
  13. Here is my order of these names listed: Deboer, Fickell, Klieman, Leipold, Doeren, Traylor. I feel like there is drop off from those first 3 to the latter 3.
  14. Sorry if this was posted already. These guys speculate that our best 3 options are Monken, Leipold and OBrien. Apprently Trev knows Monken through one of his sons. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-audible-with-stew-bruce-a-show-about-college-football/id884362991?i=1000586875920
  15. Well there was no coherent reason to give Frost a 5th season but Trev chose to do so and put in a stipulation that would have reduced the buyout after October 1, 2022. Then there was no coherent reason to fire Frost in mid-September when we were 2 games away from the reduced buyout. I think many of us are assuming that the delay in announcing is more a result of the selected candidate being an existing coach vs someone not currently coaching.
  16. With no announcement today, it seems likely that the new HC is currently coaching a team. That would eliminate Rhule, Meyer and more from the conversation. If Trev was willing to fire Frost midseason, I see no reason why he would want to wait to announce a new HC before the season is over unless that coach has to finish out their current season. We also know that Stoops is out of contention given his contract extension this weekend. If the tweet above from Leipold's wife is correct, he is out of contention too. That still leaves us many good options. Kiffin's team has seemed distracted the past couple weeks...perhaps it's Lane?
  17. I like your list! I would flip Klieman with Aranda though. Klieman has amazed me at KSU and also won national championships in a lower division at ND State. He has found a way to bring in good talent and maximize it at KSU.
  18. Also as I pointed out earlier, a private flight just outside of Charlotte landed in Lincoln this afternoon. Could be nothing but maybe Rhule is truly in Lincoln.
  19. Josh Heupel also getting blown out tonight...strange day of football. LSU and USC are waiting in the wings for the loser of OSU and Michigan. I just dont want to see Bama sneak back in.
  20. Well you can blame me. I found a o private flight arriving in Lincoln and asked where Petersen lived and things took off from there.
  21. Outbid KSU for Klieman. His style of hard-nosed ball seems to fit what many Nebraska fans want.
  22. Klieman just earned a 1 year extension with KSUs win today. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.kansas.com/sports/college/big-12/kansas-state/article268833817.html
