  1. I don't think any of us hope for the worst, at least I would hope not. We are just tired of seeing this team continue to underperform, and we are sick of the head scratching decisions Bo makes. Trust me I'd love Bo to right this ship and turn us from a national laughing stock to a national contender, but I've seen this show too many times. It's time for a change. It ain't over til' it's over. There are still games remaining that can be won. Why throw in the towel now? That's not what this team needs right now and I don't see Bo encouraging his players to do that. If we give up now, we become every single fan base out there. We'll soon become the Philadelphia Eagles of CFB. If we can applaud our opponents, why can't our fans simply support the team after a loss? Maybe the biggest thing we can do as fans is be as loud as ever for Northwestern and make a statement that we're behind this team through and through.
  2. There are a lot of Pelini threads/coaching threads on HB right now but can we have a single thread for those who are in support of Bo Pelini and this team? We all know he has made mistakes, he has work to do, we're in year 6 with him. But instead of bashing him, hoping for the worst... let's get behind him and show our support! Bo can get his team back and only he can do it. If it means naming TA/Kellogg as starters for the rest of the year, so be it. If it means scrapping ideas, tossing out schemes and dialing up more blitzes, simplifying the defense even more, WHATEVER it takes, we're behind you 100%. As for the players, nobody takes a loss worse than you guys. We know it's tough, we as fans endured the Callahan era, so believe US, we know what it's like to be at the bottom of the barrel as fans. There are few who will stand behind you, behind this program, behind our coach. This year we have had a few distractions but let's forget that. You can still accomplish great things this year. Your coach challenged you last year to win out and you did it... but now our fanbase asks you to do more, win out and WIN the B1G conference for our program. A man himself can be great... there are 5 games left on this schedule to move in the right direction let's make it happen. We need leaders on the team just because you don't have a C on your jersey doesn't mean you can't be great, doesn't mean you can't stand up and fight for your program. I'm behind the team all the way no matter what happens so let's take care of NW and take one game at a time and the big picture will paint itself at the end of the year. The players can only control themselves and nothing else right now. What better way to shut the critics up by winning the rest of our games! I sincerely hope Bo and this team can rise above all the negativity right now and climb their way out of the pits it takes A LOT of character and heart to do it. So I challenge every single player on the team if you have a heart, let's put it out on that football field for the rest of the year and this great fan base will continue to support you guys through the the rest of the season! Any HB posters here that are in support of Bo and this team, please reply and show your support!
  3. I think Bo knows he has to lead the team to Indy and put up a fight. If he doesn't get there or is blown out again... it's over. Fans need to get behind him, behind this team, the players and Bo needs to do what he has to do to get his team back. If it means changing personnel, DO it now. Make the sacrifice because the program is bigger than any one player or coach.
  4. Link? Because I've read several that say otherwise. Helfrich has stated Frost calls the plays...
  5. I don't think we would be able to afford Chip Kelly and I don't think he would be here for the long-term and would jump ship at either the first sign of trouble or the next big offer. Regardless. he was a great offensive mind/coach in college though.
  6. He's young he'd be here for a long time and I think he would bring an exciting offense to the program and would surround himself with proven assistants. Wouldn't be surprised if he kept a few coaches on our offensive staff i.e. Garrison, Fisher, Brown, Ganz as QB coach?
  7. Frost, although has no HC experience would make the most sense in terms of hiring someone for the long term. Just look at what former alum Kingsbury has done for TT. I think Frost would bring a wealth of knowledge from UO and would be able to recruit the right players for his offensive system. I like how UO can run/pass in any situation, any game they are in. It's really difficult to prepare for their offense. I wouldn't mind seeing us have an offense that can win games 63-21, 59-14, 49-20, etc. He would just need to find a good defensive coordinator! So, the more I think about SF, the more it makes sense to me.
  8. It's getting old seeing us used as a stepping stone for many programs but be glad this isn't the 90's and we aren't elite. Better to beat us when we're mediocre/average but those standards aren't acceptable to me, that's for sure. I'm done with the team getting embarrassed time and time again.
  9. I've never seen so many negative comments by former players before. It's crazy to see 90's players tweeting and coming onto radio shows/podcasts and dissing Pelini & the program. I don't think he has many friends right now... Which is really unfortunate. So, - Tweets by former Huskers.
  10. A lot of things have happened this year that have left us with many moments. And moments I'll name a few, - Bo "naming" captains at the start of the season vs. letting the players decide. - Pre-season Blackshirts awarded for the first time in Pelini era. - Cotton demoted to TE coach. - Jack Hoffman spring game TD run/wins ESPY for best moment :D - The cell phone prank = funny, the harlem shake during practice? Feel free to add to the list! This is not meant to be a negative thread but instead a discussion about strange things that have happened in year 6 of the Pelini era that make you wonder about the football program...
  11. So we really need MSU to lose a game and we need to win out to win the Legends division. I'm not so sure we'll even beat NW now...
  12. I said a week or so ago that I didn't think the coaching staff had the stones to take Martinez out if he started playing bad. Now that it's happened, it's obvious Bo is the only one who doesn't have the stones to replace Martinez and would rather run him into the ground. If he loves the kid so much, do him a favor, don't continue playing him while he's injured. His straight line speed is gone if he can't plant, and he has never really shown much agility to begin with and has a questionable arm/release/delivery and poor decision making. Is there anything positive that could come out of this by playing Martinez right now? How many times do we have to see Bo ditch something that was working? Perhaps we had a bad week of practice because Bo decided the QB would be a game time decision? Perhaps the offense' reps were divided w/ the 3 QB's? I do think having TA/Kellogg is or was the blessing in disguise that we needed. Yeah, TA had a bad day at Purdue but that was his first road game. I think the risk/reward is much better with TA or Kellogg than a wounded Martinez.
  13. I'm thinking you might be wrong unless you are Eichorst himself.
  14. Whether Armstrong or Kellogg, what has been most beneficial is keeping the chains moving. Something that for whatever reason is simply not happening with Martinez. Well, then you might be better served asking why we threw 30 passes when we had a RB averaging 8.7 yards per carry. That's probably a more pertinent point to raise rather than who started at QB. Beck and his head scratching play calls. Do you think if Ameer had 11 more carries we would have won the game with our defense today? AA did have a costly fumble but he's a top back and needs to be fed. He was running well, we should've rode him. This is true but how many times have we seen Beck keep feeding the ball to the rb when we are down and need two td's? He goes into air it out mode every time. It's like
  15. I too would much rather see us go to Indy with nobody giving us a shot than not getting a shot at all.
  16. Who would hire Bo? Every ESPN game is a joke. Never had a season without 4 losses. Curses at the fan base. There's always the NFL. He could go back to coaching LB's...
  17. Will not come to NU. Show me a link or source that says he wouldn't because last time I checked, money talks. http://en.wikipedia....onco_Mendenhall You can find it starting at "Bronco Mendenhall is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints....." BYU is his dream job and it is a job that comes without the pressures of a place like Nebraska. He isn't going anywhere. Is that a clause in his contract? Cause if so, then I'll agree with you. See Flood's post. I will also say that I know countless Mormons. In fact I was just up in SLC two falls ago visiting friends and watching HS soccer. I didn't know you guys were official spokesmen for Mormons that is pretty cool. We just apply basic logic. Which is something you are incapable of. So you speak for mormons and know what I am capable of, too. Incredible
  18. Love this. Again, I ask why? Richt, Petrino, Petersen, insert any other head coach with a ton of experience that can't get it done. Nebraska fans want championships. I don't think any of these guys can get them here either. And the coaches who are getting them aren't coming to Nebraska. I'm sorry, but I'd rather take a chance on a promising young coach in charge of one of the best offenses in college football over a coach with experience who I know can't get it done. Richt is a proven HC who has appeared in more conference championships and won more at an SEC school than Pelini and Frost combined. Ideally, we should go after a proven winning HC at a program who would view the job at NU as a promotion with the prestige and tradition we offer. I guess I see Richt as a winner. He is a great play caller, solid recruiter, and has shown he can hang with the rest of the best. Sure, he doesn't have a NC title, but none of the coaches mentioned here as well as Bo himself have that claim either. Why not go after a coach that has shown the ability to win games and recruit, year after year? We do need a HC who is passionate about recruiting instead of leaving it all up to his assistants and assuming the title of a "Closer." Head coaches can only have one in-home visit with each recruit. While asst. coaches get unlimited amount, I believe. That's why hes a closer, not because he doesn't care He doesn't enjoy recruiting though. That isn't a secret.

  20. Two words Andy Reid. Sometimes it just takes a change of scenery. Georgia's having an underwhelming year. Maybe Richt would be willing for a changeup and is a little burned out in Athens. I'd entertain the idea. I'm a diehard Chiefs fan and what Reid has done is remarkable! But this isn't the NFL... I'm not saying Richt wouldn't be a bad hire but how many CFB programs have hired CFB HC's who the previous year had a losing record or didn't finish on a high note?

We're complaining about Martinez's passing... imagine if he only threw 15 or 20 passes and Abdullah had 230 yards. I would probably put money on us winning that game. Too bad we will never know. The offense shot themselves in the foot but then again it's the defense' job to hold opponents to less points than what we score on offense.
  23. Richt would be an interesting hire, no doubt. He would need to finish 5-7 or 6-6 this year and would NU want to hire a coach that got fired for a record like that?
