  1. I'm not trolling you I asked you a reasonable question and you still didn't answer it, you state the NCAA is corrupt......what this has to do with Tressel I have no idea. I know exactly what Tressel did and have zero problem with it, in fact, he took one for the team (tOSU) actually. I see Johnny Football is still playing, maybe his coach should resign as well
  2. We get it - you don't like Pelini. He's our head coach, though, and this thread is about who we'd want in a hypothetical world. If you have nothing to contribute in that realm, then please take the Pelini hate elsewhere. I have no problem with your opinion but it serves no purpose than to derail this thread. Thank you. I gave my opinion pages ago, I said Tressel and several saw this a rational, which at this point if we want to be relevant again,it's our only real option, that is if he would come here, he may take the USC gig, who knows. You feel my opinion means nothing so I guess we're even
  3. With their zero national championships in football? With their zero national championships in football? Minnesota Golden Gophers have 7 National Championships, I'd say Oregon has surpassed them as well
  4. Being forced to resign is the PC way of saying you're fired. But you can think of it anyway you want. And to the bolded part, you may think he didn't do anything wrong, but he broke the rules and lied about it. And because of it, it cost OSU a possible MNC last year. What was the dastardly deed Tressel did?
  5. I agree with that. We did try a guy outside of our usual comfort zone (Billy Callahan) and that obviously didn't work out that well. All I'm saying is that I wouldn't be surprised if we pursued avenues like Petrino, and personally, I don't think it tarnishes Nebraska if they went with a guy like Petrino. "The process" certainly worked for Nebraska in the past and we hear Pelini preach it all the time now. But, if the process doesn't produce results, we get into a position we're in now of how much time do we devote to a coach to right the ship? Again, this is mostly just me speaking out of sheer curiosity if Nebraska would pursue a guy like Petrino. If Pelini doesn't work out, or works out and retires, Eichorst seems like the type of AD that would be able to pull in a great hire that's outside of "the process" mold. Lots of hypotheticals but this whole thread is based on it anyways lol. I want this program to represent everything that is still good about college football. They can cheat all they want to down south but I hope that we remain above that. Stanford is a perfect model for what I want our program to be like. If Petrino could do it, so be it. I'm not above giving second chances for things that have happened in the past. Im with you on this. I just find it funny that since that tape came out...actually since TA&M in 2010, Ive seen so many times on this board about how Pelini is an embarrassment to this University, but then we'd be okay with hiring one of the sleaziest coaches in the business. Id say Petrino, after how he left Atlanta, was in the same category as Lane Kiffin. And then the whole thing happened at Arkansas. If you want to fire Pelini because of the blowout loses, that's fine. But if you want to fire him because of the way he acts on the sidelines and then say we should hire Petrino or Tressel, that's absurd. What was it Tressel did?
  6. Actually you fire Pelini because he gets beats in Lincoln by garbage teams all the time as well as looking a fool against non ranked teams in CCGs and then goes to the wire with a team that gets smoked by Texas St and their frosh QB, not sure what coach you think was fired for breaking NCAA rules but it certainly wasn't Tressel, he resigned. But please elaborate Oh sorry, he quit before he got fired. My bad No problem, I'm used to uninformed babble being spread as gospel around here You've don't nothing but post basically things that are flat out not true in this thread troll. If I'm understanding you correctly you're calling me a liar and a troll. that's fine, I don't have my head shoved up my ass and think Pelini is a real coach with his clown posse staff and blowout losses every year he's coached here including 2003. He will be gone just because he can't resist being terrible at recruiting/ determining talent/hiring a real staff/ stopping the run/ acting a fool on the sideline/ game planning/ preparing our players for un ranked teams all at the same time he tell's you the fan to go "F" yourself. He's a top class buffoon
  7. Iowa State, Texas, Northwestern and yeah Wisconsin was a darn good 7-5 team. I'm sure Wyoming was full of fear their first game too, I guess they waited to show how relaxed they were against Texas St

He resigned didn't he. Quite frankly I don't see anything wrong at all with what Tressel did, I went through all the gangsta crap of the 90s here and a couple tattoo's seem rather innocent compared to that. For those worried Treesel brings sanctions in reality he brings this .....he was given a five-year show-cause penalty (until December 19, 2016). If he gets another head coaching job before then, he will have to sit out the first five games of the first regular season of his return, as well as any postseason games (including conference championship games and bowl games

  10. We would need a big hire like this to get the recruits that we need. Not sure of Scott would make a lateral move - what's in it for him unless he was named 'coached in waiting" assistance HC. Thats why I say Tressel, to groom Frost but Tressel would also bring another year of sanction which can't be much worse than dealing with another year of Pelini, that way all the Osborne worshippers would treat Tressel with respect and we might just get a real HC in here for the first time in a long time. Not sure Frost would come back to a place where the fans treated him like garbage though. Its not a lateral move what so ever, Oregon surpassed the Huskers a long, long time ago. Thats why we need Tressel, we wont get a Saban USC the past couple of years has really started feeling the effects of their scholarship sanctions. Hiring a coach that would bring them automatically would hurt this program for a number of years. Not just one. Tressel wouldn't bring scholarship sanctions, he's under a show-cause penalty which could be dismissed if the NCAA receives the right ass kissing

  13. But, but, people on here were saying Wyoming was a good team and our schedule wasn't nearly as weak as it really is. Texas St. Frosh QB.....yikes, I bet Jammies won't be scheduling them anytime soon
  14. Tom won't have any say in it because he is no longer the athletic director. All we have is "hope" when did we ever have to use that word under Tom Osborne other than "I hope we beat OU this year and win the Big 8! Or... I HOPE we win the NC this year!" Now we're just hoping to get 7-8 more wins. We've fallen too far. Yeah, we fell all the way to 5-7 and not making a bowl game under the last coach and *now* is the time we conveniently forget about that to make a statement on where the program is. *Now* is the time we say we've fallen too far when we get 9-10 wins a year. There needs to be a healthy understanding of where we've been to truly appreciate where we are now, and what the current coaching staff has done to the program. I think that we tend to treat those Callahan years as an aberration with no effect on our progress to where we are now. You're only kidding yourself when you do that. Actually the ones kidding themselves are the ones still blaming Callahan for Pelini being inept 6 years later when it's actually Callahan that was the reason Pelini had any success at all with the quality of players left to Bo. Comparing our 5-7 seasons schedule to any of the cake walks Pelini has had is completely laughable, they aren't even in the same stratosphere. I find it hilarious that it's Callahans 2007 fault and not Solichs 2002, where was all this empathy for Callahan when he had to deal with that dismantling of a dynasty and turned around recruiting fairly fast. Where we are now is because of schedule and watching other teams like Bama, A&M, FSU and even OSU/WV reminds me just how far we have fallen on both sides of the ball, I kept thinking I was watching Pro ball all day yesterday with the speed and athleticism across the board, even Ole Miss who got dismantled had a defense that looked light years ahead of ours I never said anything about how what Solich left Callahan effected Callahan's time here at Nebraska. But since we're going down that road... Callahan didn't do anything to turn around what Solich left him. Solich went 10-3 the year before Callahan was hired here. Callahan's first year, we go 5-6. Five and freakin' six! Then 8-4, then 9-3, then 5-7. Callahan only managed to achieve the mark Pelini has hit five just one time. But now is the time we proclaim that we have fallen too far. It's absurd. It's ridiculous to attribute all the failings of the current coaching staff with the problems left by the previous coaching staff. It's year 6, and we've been turned around as a program. Not to where we want to be but at least a good ways back from where we once were. But proclaiming now, in this moment, without respect to where we once were as a program, that we have fallen too far is short sighted and just flat out wrong. That's where we differ, I don't just use numbers to justify who did what where and proclaim greatness where it isn't. I use my eyes mixed with numbers and strength of schedule. While everyone else was impressed with Franks "2003 9-3 rejuvenation tour" featuring defensive guru Bo Pelini I saw us beating 3-9 PSU by a few points in Memorial Stadium, I saw us beating very bad 4-8 Texas A&M, the only game I remember deserving of a "nice win" was OSU. The rest were Troy State /Arkansas State / Iowa State. If we played anyone with a hint of top 20 at the end of the season, we got throttled. I will say if the AD hadn't announced Franks firing, we probably would have been in a shoot out vs 5-7 CU. We had 8 home games that season. 2004, Solich recruits and a terrible defensive coordinator mixed with a complete change on both sides of the ball I expected pain considering Joe Dailey and a Barney Cotton offense was left for Callahan to "deal with" Now you state Pelini was left a mess to deal with and I say Callahans recruits ( Suh )and Shawn Watson were the main factor of Pelinis 2008 success, out scoring other teams and the failures being typical Pelini blowouts. Unfortunately Pelini/Osborne couldn't keep his/their paws out of Shawn Watsons way and forced an offense/Martinez on him that Pelini couldn't stop but no one else seems to have trouble stopping. Just look at the offense Beck runs, does this look like a Beck style offense? Pelini surrounds himself with yes men buddy hires including his buddy Barney and pay ALL his kids way through college, what other top 20/30/40/50 teams were after the Cotton boys? When I look at Pelini as a coach I see 5-7 Texas along with Iowa State coming into Memorial Stadium and making him look like a fool, last years CCG didn't surprise me in the least, it has become his mantra. I know everyone seems happy with these 9 wins against terrible teams and getting stomped on national TV to the tune of recruits staying far away even if Pelini could recruit someone other than Barneys family tree. You see Nebraska as once again respected, I see annual embarrassments in year 6 and no respect or relevance with these weak schedules. Don't get me wrong, I don't blame Nebraskas fall from grace on Pelini in the least, it falls squarely on Osborne sticking his nose in too many times starting in 97. Hopefully Shawn E won't be bullied into failure
  15. dude, Michigan will stuff our running game...TMart will be back at qb and turn the ball over through the air...we don't have a snowballs' chance in hell. You're the biggest Debbie downer I've ever come across, holy sh#t. I thought he was fairly optimistic really, Im personally hoping for a Kiffin job after Pelinis next embarrassing blowout or loss to a .500 team

  17. Well remember Osborne shoved the students to the cheap seats and the product on the field has been nothing to cheer about since. I can't believe people would bitch witnessing blow out after blowout
  18. We need a new strength and conditioning program as much as anything, so go after the best here Jim Tressel as HC, regardless of their past we need someone that would make the move to Lincoln and proven, someone can teach him how to e-mail Scott Frost as OC only because he would keep the group that need some emotional tie to Osborne happy and he's coached at an elite (consistant top 5) level of play, seems to understand what it takes in 2013, if not him Bobby Petrino or get Shawn Watson back DC let Tressel decide, because the Huskers are so irrelevant these days you're not going to get a lateral move from someone decent, they have to completely start from scratch, To keep the Solich/Pelini fans happy bring in Marvin Sanders, no one on my list would come to Nebraska with out HC possibilities like Bud Foster Regardless we need recruiters and no more buddy hires, if you want to try out Peters as a motivational supervisor or Asst. DC for the defensive line, it's worth a try
  19. Not really No recruits are interested in seeing Miley Cyrus or would equate Lincoln being "cool" if Miley was in town Right well I don't think Nebraskans want to promote the debauchery that unfolds at both of their concerts Exactly, it's much better to hear the coach say "F" the fans, I've been looking for a "F"ing job elsewhere anyway. Come to think of it, a Jay Z concert would probably be tame comparatively. Maybe Jay Z can get some lyrical assistance from ole foul face himself
  20. I'd say this could be as hard as our Big Ten schedule will ever be again. We are playing MSU, PSU, and Michigan. We are going to pick up a Wisconsin but likely will not have two other big programs (tOSU, UM, MSU, or PSU) from the East again in the same year. Throw in a pretty darn good Top-20(15) UCLA team. This schedule isn't as "easy" as every one makes it out to be. It is "easier" than our murderers row we've had the last two years. Yes, yes it is as easy as everyone is saying it is. Murderers row? 2007 was one tough schedule and I don't recall a single Husker fan calling that murderers row. Bo has been on the receiving end of some seriously easy schedules
  21. Well at least everybody's on the same page then, we are Iowa along with all their success
  22. We did? The people that know what's wrong with the defense did, people that try and show how tough Pelinis schedules have been and did exactly opposite might not.
  23. Yeah but he was being manipulated and sound bit, listen to the ones telling you its the radio guys fault our staff sounds like they have their heads planted deep in rear. I thought it was painfully obvious years ago Pap doesnt belong anywhere near a Div 1 staff
  24. The not tackling in practice doesn't bother me as much as the obvious confusion in the staff. Like the player stated you learn to tackle in Midget, peewee, pop warner whatever and if you have a sound recruiter he can spot if a guy knows how to open field tackle off film and knows if the people he's tackling are talented or not. By the time you're on a roster at NU it's pretty evident you know how to tackle and if you don't, there's the problem right there but most of us knew this decades ago.
  25. Manipulating sound bites? I didn't hear any manipulated Daily Show-esc sound bites, I heard coaches admitting we don't have Callahans recruits anymore which anyone can see, when they were gone, we were done. Pelini had the luxury of not recruiting the players that made him look like a genius at Nebraska, OU and LSU and it's glaring. Glen Dorsey and Mr. Suh were what made Pelini look like a guru just like the way he used Demorrio Williams in a way that made him seem like he "got it" that is until the traditional Pelini blowouts. I gained more respect for Pap and Bo for actually admitting they can't recruit, why Bo hasn't fired the strength and conditioning staff and added a decent recruiter to his staff is beyond me. He knows what got him hired, Dorsey.
