I thought the rumors from that fiasco was that Frost wanted OU off the schedule... but who knows.

And that he went above Moos' head to do it.  That could be part of the issue here.  Tough and probably extremely frustrating to do your job when the football coach has more power than you as AD.  It's pretty well known that Frost and Moos do not like each other.

I would say it's more likely the other way around. Remember that Rice's HC is Christian's old OC. I bet Christian told Luke to go to Rice to begin with, and now that Luke flipped, Christian is having a big ego "I told you so!" moment.

Now that would be some terrible advice.

  3. This kid feels like the best we had available that was interested in us.  There's some potential here so worth taking  a shot, since we obviously need a qb in the class.  If he doesn't pan out, I wouldn't be overly surprised to see him get recruited over by someone better in the next year or two, especially if we have a halfway decent season.

Honestly, who cares. It seems to me you a nitpicking Erstad. Get over it. Coach Erstad gave more to this program then any coach before or after him ever will. Donations, sweat, loyalty, time.... He left the cupboard full, with a unified, tradition rich, scrappy group of young men. Young men that want to leave this program on a high note. Bolt doesn't have this success without Darin's hard work and support. Just stop trying to belittle what Darin Erstad, a humble, hard working, dedicated father and incredible supporter of Nebraska, did for this program. Darin's accolades will long out last your petty comparisons.

Enjoy the moment to its fullest. Be thankful of Darin's efforts and appreciate the play of this group. After all, they've earned it

    Darin, is that you?

This is secondhand from some people I know, but I got the impression that Erstad didn't really hit it off that well with local baseball coaches. I don't know if the recruiting aspect of it was a cause or a result of that, but I had heard that the relationships between the previous staff and local programs wasn't the best.

From what I heard Erstad also had a really ignorant mind set regarding recruiting and thought that the talent here wasn't good enough.

I'm surprised they only sold 70,000.  I would have thought they would have the stage at center field, use the entire stadium for seating and plus on field seating.

They must be having the stage at the north endzone which eliminates those seats.

The article above says 90,000 were sold.  And there is on the field seating.

Perhaps I am in the minority here but this whole obsession with a game in ireland just seems to dumb to me.

The only positive is this game is played super early on the schedule so it will be the only game on during that date as opposed to all other teams kicking off the weekend after.

That being said, I'd be shocked if that many college football fans are going to say, wow a game in ireland, im gonna tune into this.

The game this year was part of the reason why we were faced with the minimal home game situation early on.  At least this game i think takes the place of a road game.

I feel like an actual road game at northwestern where perhaps recruits considering us could actually go to the game would be more beneficial than playing a game in a country that gives 2 s#!ts about american football.

I’ll gladly take an excuse to go back to Ireland.  Place is awesome.  And already have a group wanting to go.

Wiltfong's CB is just a 5 so not super high confidence ... does that just mean he's making an educated guess based on "Clemson is interested and a lot better than the other teams recruiting him," or is there inside info?

I get the impression that Venables/Clemson want him.  So they're going to get him.  Isaiah Simmons 2.0

Honestly, I would still feel pretty good if the super seniors didn't decide to come back.

JoJo is one exception where he is a stud and would be missed. Stille is solid but has replaceable production. Farmer has more INTs in starting only a single half than Dismuke has in his career (0 picks in five years) and tied with Williams for his career (2 picks in 2018). Clark, NPG and Farmer appear to be a formidable group to replace Dismuke & Williams.

I agree but that being said, I think Dismuke and Williams are both going to have a really good year.  Williams especially.

Where did I say these teams deserve no credit or that they haven’t been significantly better than us? They deserve all the credit. Kudos to them.

But in a sense you are right, I am not and will not give these mediocre teams a bunch of credit for beating us year in and year out. They’ve definitely and simply done what it’s taken to beat Nebraska which frankly is not all that impressive.  I think that has a lot more to do with Nebraska being bad than it does with Iowa or NW or really anyone in the West being all that great. My point is, the West is there for the taking. It’s Nebraska’s own fault they haven’t risen to the challenge. Those teams have done a whole bunch of things way better than we have. That doesn’t diminish anything they’ve accomplished vs Nebraska. It also doesn’t indicate they are particularly good teams. It has nothing to do with holding on to any glory days or living in the past. They’ve simply been better than Nebraska. In case you haven’t been paying attention, that hasn’t been a difficult feat.

They can all have credit...except Iowa...and Wisconsin.  Bc f#&% them.

At the end of the day he has 5 rushing attempts in 2 years. I'm not sure he's better than Scott, Morrison, or Ervin...even Yant is gonna see some carries. He has never been healthy even in HS. I see him moving to a smaller D1 school closer to home. I hope he proves me wrong.

That's fair.  From what I've seen, his knees have not been an issue here (except when he first arrived and was still healing from that injury).  If the rumor is true that he's the most complete back (and he's healthy), I expect he'll be at the top of the depth chart come this season.  I'm not sure he'd find a better opportunity somewhere else.
