  1. Yeah, on skills alone, TA's long ball is nice! With play action and Kenny Bell, C. Carter seams, Reilly, Perison EL, Irons it is can be devasting. Man, I still through flys several times a week and struggle with it. But, TA has this weapon already. IMO, it is a seprator from most dual threat college QBs. Bottom line he is dangerous.
  2. Yeah TA is a good one. I think his multiple skill set is as dangerous as TM's our even more so. His skills define the Red Storm. He can run option, Veer, through underneath the safety's, has pocket presence, can extend plays, run if needed and can even deliver the deep ball which is not easy to do. He is only going to get better. As a film buff, his repetition in practice plus experience will evelvate (command) his completition rate (intermediate routes) throughout this season and his career. Ameer and the offensive line have played lights out so far which reduces alot of uneeded stress when making decsions for a QB.
  3. Not utilizing a tight end in the pass game is ridiculous. I watch the Denver Broncos use Thomas size and ability to great success it was laughable that on some plays the colts secondary didn't offer help in the secondary . Shoot McNeil and Reed all they did was create mismatches and catch touchdowns. Size like speed is an innate quality. When guys like turner, reily and bell hampered our are out the fly vertical game is difficult. The husker have size with Burtch's, carter and Allen should capitalize on that. Fly's are hard to complete you need a good look off or pump Play action and a safety bite or misstep to complete. Not efficient if used a focal point to remove defenders from the box. A tight end or full back is better suited IMO.
  4. Yeah some good ideas on the board. The actual stats and explanation is interesting if your valuing efficiency like the Red Storm should after all it's the moniker this year. You can learn a lot from stats. It makes sense for a more favorable run/pass ratio and illustrates its effectiveness with the players we have.
  5. Pelini is pisst! There were no slants, very little screens, flats and releases by lineman or TE or fullback/halfback to counter the box and blitzkrieg by the cowboys. With half your wr's hurt Neb only focused on the deep ball which is a hard play to execute. It was not efficient football. Need a valve or gadget play that can easily be executed preferably in power or heavier sets. Goes back to ameer harping on winning one vs one battles like basketball play your man because without those small victories the play will not be executed. at this point what ameer says I take as gospel because it's true and his performance validates what he is emphasizing to others.

  7. I thought TA played ok with what he was working with. A lot of blitzed pacs from the cowboys. The numbers were not always their except for the TA keepers. I think teams will use the cowboys plan of stacking boxes and blitzing from everywhere throughout the season to disrupt TA . Must win the one on one battles ameer is always talking about. Would like to see more of carter on shorts curls and drags and Burtch's presence and size on the wing will help create the advantage in those one one battles. Need to help the qb if he is being keyed on as much as possible even if you developed a gadget play or two with an unorthodox set, keys, and players that can get the defense out of the box.
  8. Liked Coach P's comment about the the high school instruction that Kalu and some others got at their former teams. It's interesting to reflect on when evaluating players for future needs. What these kids have been exposed to prior as far a schemes and technique beforehand can be a tell along with their physical ability dictating performance at higher levels. If anything a leg up on the competition. Very interesting!
  9. I like the Red Storm identity akin to the the Blackshirts could create a really competitive environment very intense in practice. It's like my favorite basketball team has so much depth and talent their practices are more intense and held at a higher level then 70% of the games scheduled. The practices are more developmental than the game itself.
  10. I admire the attitude of the quarterbacks! With Armstrong study of film and preparation to get better. In addition his ownership of past mistakes and self evaluation to improve his decision making. Loved Fifes comment " I may have not thrown the ball perfectly, but I know this offense" this is huge for confidence and further growth. allot of pressure to be perfect as a qb mostly self imposed but he put it in perspective, IMO. Armstrong should throw high and outside. I read Mitchell baited him day one of practice. I like this position group. great young men!
  11. I think beck and bo offense is a counter designed to get athletes the ball in space, create mismatches, and to utilize player strengths in a multiple framework of sets, formations, looks and play design. What they will be judged on is the efficiency and effectives of this variation. looks, plays and the development and reliability of the components to have success in Reducing errors , performance gaps, knowledge gaps, instill improvisation, innovation and players commitment to be the best they can every down.
  12. Yeah, I like what beck and bo are doing. I think their handle on the changing dynamics and responsibilities of a tight end are ahead of the curve. It is creating a superback position like northwestern uses. A guy who can block edge and interior, help in back field, also can be split out to create mismatches. Athletic and fast enough not to get jammed and a viable third down drag route and corner red zone threat. I think their is in interest in both dillman and the qb from Georgia in this role maybe. The hardest thing about high level athletes is to get them to play physical , IMO the mental aspect ever down.
  13. Yeah mine as well. From what I read it seems like Florida and Arizona have a eye on him. Florida would be a great spot with Roof offense but the gators program is unstable right now. Arizona I would have a keen eye on how they use and the success Ansu Solomon has this year if any. A waiting game is being used here Dillman is great qb in his own right extremely physical a very hard runner and good thrower I think jones waits and see what happens this year with these three teams. I would like him to work with placement and fades plus touch with distance and seperation, imo
  14. I think there is a good chance here. Academics are a priority and a good support system needs to follow suit. Not only would I sale his place in the offense but also those skilled offensive lineman and stable of running backs the huskers have acquired recently. Which allows him to do what he does in distributing the ball lessoning other stress factors in the game that TM had to deal with early on. Imo, should committ soon so neb can use it as leverage to get him a talented wr a partner in crime if you will.
  15. I love it! It is creative using the diamond formation and using individual strengths of each player to incorporate more looks, options, by using, simpler termoniogy, and complimentary play design creating the most efficient use of the ball possible. Offensive structure and play design must be accountable and tailored to match abilities of each playmaker. At the same time players must use judgement within the confines of a flexible structure to remain disciplined and effective. Simply accountability flows both ways. Beck and Pelini have the tough task of assembling this package and calling it in game situations. I'm a basketball guy so I relate efficiency in these ideas and examples. Good examples of structure closely tied to player or team strengths. B Stevens motion with designed pick and roll Columbia College use of m2m and Izzos 1999-2000 team Coach K use of Redick and his options on the ball hand off in a 3-2 motion Tarkanians use of 1-3-1 with the substitons if the 4/5 player.
  16. Very interesting! IMO a good move. Pelini has been very candid referring to option creation during the off season. He has said " if he has to deal with it so will opposing teams. It is about creating a look for defenses and using diverse skills to make plays. Jt is a solid wr and knows the play book. Jt is probably excited to contribute to the success of the team in any way shape or form. The qbs are getting the reps they need. In no way would Beck or Pelini hinder their development. I would bet both TA and Johnny S are working their tails off in and out of practice to get better and set an example for others to follow.
  17. Yeah I agree! . A player like that makes you wonder. I looked at Bush's tapes recently . he can change directions well. He can throw well. The speed is good. His size is awesome and I guess he has good hands because of the talk of him playing wr. He is intresting in that utility role. Raised on run option football like a lot of us were a player like him takes you back
  18. Good catch. Just overthinking and playing the what if game it never fails. Haha Aj Bush in that role maybe?
  19. Yeah Urban Myer has some great examples such as Miller and Tebow with what he can mold. He also should push the intention of Gibson getting on the field in a variety of looks to opposing defenses. An understudy to Miller working in tandem to create plays via designed runs, option reverses, sweeps, fades, and vertical routes to use his size and speed. He can be pitched an opportunity to be involved next year with live game action and the contours of the offense helping him gain experience. He'll I would even talk about using him in some dime packages.
  20. From what I read and seen on tape he is one of the top athletes in the 2015 class. He is versatile as a qb or even a wingback. Ohio St's zone read, veer , speed option, spead base is perfect for him. I envision Kain Colter but more athletic , bigger frame and with more speed. Basically get him on field in a myriad of options. I think his waiting affects is recruiting as we'll as wr recruits who are debating if they want to play with him. Sought after qbs should choose early to help intice others. With said I think osu has nothing to worry about. Osu missed on some qbs last year and it sets up nicely for him. Needs to work on accuracy ,arc and touch though. Their are better qbs that fit Beck and Pelinis vision of what they want out of a qb IMO. He is a playmaker by definition and extremely impressive with regards to his development and potential
  21. First time post. I could not resist though. Of the film of qb's I seen thus far he is most impressive. Everything that thanks tom rr said is true. Positives I saw was ball placement, footwork, and pocket presence. He seems to be a perfectionist. For example, when he threw behind and low to his left he was discussed with himself . Also he made three throws that were highly questionable. He is technically sound for a junior. I think he fits Nebraska. Now I think you dig deeper to validate his work ethic, toughness, and leadership but I like this kids skill set and what he brings to the table. I like Delton too but this qb would be 1a.
