  1. If the Big Ten goes 0-7 and the Big XII goes 8-0 in the bowls, I would gladly agree to your presumption. I would agree to it at a 2-5; 5-3 clip-- but I just don't see it happening. If Michigan loses to Nebraska, I would have to say that Nebraska had the better team on that day. It's just that it's not going to happen, that's all. Personally, I think if you want to make an argument, you'd be better off sticking with the Michigan/Nebraska ordeal rather than hashing over to the Big Ten/Big XII debate for this year because there really isn't much debate on the issue this year. Most observers would agree that the Big Ten is packed with competitive programs laden with parity throughout much of the conference. I'm sorry I can't say the same for the Big XII. There is a significant gap between Texas and Texas Tech, whom I consider to be the top two schools in the conference this year. After that I'd probably choose Oklahoma, who is unranked (yes, I know they are receiving votes)... I really don't know who the best team from the Big XII North is and honestly I think it's about as quality as Conference USA or the Big East (minus West Virginia). Don't make yourself look silly by disagreeing. There is a grand total of 0 Big XII North teams ranked and for good reason. It's a shame they even had to play a Big XII Championship this year; I really think the North should have sent a white flag in lieu of their no-show. Meanwhile, the Big 10 has a number of solid programs: OSU, Penn State, Michigan, Iowa, and Wisconsin-- Northwestern and Minnesota showed some flashes too. It's curious because at one point, even Michigan State was considered to be a potential "great".. but so much for that. If I were you, I'd just drop the conference competition- I believe many level-headed Husker fans would agree with me that the Big 10 has been the stronger conference this year. But yeah, if Nebraska wins- I'd be glad to say that the Huskers had the better team the day they play. Would I say they're better overall? Heck no.. why? I saw Michigan chokes some close games away this year that they played competitively in... BUT I've seen Nebraska play some positively horrid football this season- a poor quality of football that I've never seen Michigan play. There's no way you can get rolled up by KU and MU(that's Missouri) and expect me to believe you have a 'good' football team. The Maine, Pittsburgh, Baylor, and Kansas State games were also thoroughly unimpressive from my standpoint. If Michigan played that way against those teams, I'd wonder who was wearing the uniforms and where the real Wolverine players went. See, what you are banking on is a performance like the one you saw against Colorado. It's funny, because prior to that game, I saw a lot of dejected Husker fans-- but now it's like everything's all better because you had one positive game. I take comfort in knowing that Michigan is a far better team than Colorado. Additionally, I've seen Nebraska stink up the place enough this year to know that there's a pretty good chance that the Huskers will go out there and disappoint you guys to no end. You'll never admit to it, but I know deep down that's what you're dreading. So go on down to San Antonio, pack the stadium with red, and watch your team disappoint you. In all truthfulness though, you shouldn't be disappointed to lose-- because I can say in all confidence that Michigan is the better program with better players and will be a team hungry for a win. It's the Huskers that should be worried about getting steamrolled by a very talented and very much angry football team.
  2. One thing is certain -- If they did send us to the Motor City Bowl, we'd have about the same level of competition And yeah, the Alamo Bowl is an awful bowl. As I've said before many times, I'm not disputing that Michigan should be in the game. We had a rotten season for as much talent and potential that we have. Given that, we are way better than Nebraska- who got probably a better bowl than they deserve, simply because they beat a lousy Colorado team. Too bad that no-offense KSU team couldn't close the door on your team. Michigan won't have a problem doing just that though.
  3. No, no, no, he is right. It's UM. The coaching staff at Michigan has been teaching them (the players) to say that after every practice...UM. But they don't say it like you and I, they say it Ummm....ummmm...ummmm. Like "Ummm, I don't know what happened?, obviously Nebraska is more superior than we were tought to believe...ummmm." I think Little Jay is a bit worried that after watching a game that was 3-0 at half in Ann Arbor, he might be having second thoughts about the outcome in San Antonio, in what has developed into a "sea of red." (again) Silly Little Jay, don't you know that the Alamo Bowl has turned into the Memorial Stadium's "second coming"? 3-0 at the half in Ann Arbor? What on earth are you talking about? Seriously though, nobody fears playing at Memorial Stadium anymore, so why should they fear playing the Huskers anywhere else? We could play the game in Lincoln and Michigan would still win. If Oklahoma and Texas Tech can win there, Michigan sure as heck can. Hell, Iowa State and Kansas State nearly won there. I've been to plenty of games there and I can tell you- Memorial Stadium isn't anything to be afraid of these days. There's no mystique about the "vaunted" Huskers anymore, so you can put the intimidation card away because you simply don't have one to play. You can pack all the people wearing red into that stadium as you want, but it's still 11 vs 11 on the field. and it's taught.. not tought. Must be that quality UNL education put to use, right? Just kidding you, pal By the way though, how do you like your basketball team being owned by the "Silly Little Jays" for pretty much the past decade? You'd think with that big school you could field a team better than UNO's. I see why everyone gets all mad about the football program since you put all your money into it and get practically nothing in return.
  4. UMmmmm ... sorry ... but MU is just another under-achieving 7-5 team (you WILL lose in the Alamo Bowl) ... you can't fault us for not being able to watch too much of their games ... by the way, check your facts, because i'm pretty certain your daddy (tOSU) puts the U at the end ... Care to make a wager on that game that you're so sure of? Since you're so sure Michigan will lose, I take it you'd be happy to take Nebraska without the spread? Once again, I'd like to see Nebraska play Michigan's schedule. Michigan definitely choked some games away, but against a team like Nebraska? Not likely.
  5. EDITED BY MODS TO REMOVE OFFENDING CONTENT - Who the f#*k play's video games? When I grew up in south OMAHA we had motorcycles, BMX bikes, FOOTBALLS, basketballs, baseballs, and oh yea girl's, GET A f'ing LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who cares if NU beats MU or if MU beat's NU on a f'ing video game - In the real world it don't mean sh#t. WHAT THE f#*k HAPPEN TO THE YOUTH OF TODAY? EDITED BY MODS TO REMOVE OFFENDING CONTENT Hey, I like video games. NCAA 2006 is a really good game- and while it can't accurately determine the outcome of a football game to be played, it is still a fun time. Sorry if we don't get out on our BMX's all the time. But in all fairness, last time I checked, we still do have girls. Sometimes you can actually have girls and NCAA 2006. That beats throwing around the old pigskin the backyard when it's pretty much 0 degrees outside if you ask me.
  6. Gosh, if I didn't know any better, I'd think you were insinuating that Michigan fans are the problem. I guess it shouldn't surprise me that you went to Ohio State at one point. Just so you know, we don't exactly think Buckeye fans are the spitting image of Ghandi when they come to Ann Arbor either. OSU fans are just as flagrant. Besides, you're using an example of an instance regarding the most fierce and most historic (save maybe Army/Navy) in all of college sports-- or sports all together. Of course there are going to be instances where individuals from one side acted flagrantly towards the other in that type of rivalry. If you think all Michigan fans are crazy rioters because of what you saw, then I wonder if you'd think similarly of Husker fans if you saw a few of them behaving similarly. AND there are Husker fans that act that way. You can blow smoke up everybody's behind about how Husker fans are so respectful and classy-- that's a complete load. I came to school in Omaha 6 years ago and as soon as anyone saw that "M" on anything I had, I was hounded about how awesome Nebraska was and how Michigan was junk by comparison. Thanks for all the class. So keep getting off on your "holier than thou" trips, but know that there are those among you that are far more annoying than any other team's fans because this whole "we're the best no matter what" mentality. It's not that I don't think Nebraska has good fans, they have a lot-- but it seems like many turn a blind eye to Husker fans that act out of line, but blow up when you see other team's fans do the same thing. That's what's really annoying: Nebraska fans are composed of the same "types" of fans as any other school-- it's just that ya'll are too self-involved and blinded by your own loyalties that you don't/refuse to see it.
  7. Who is that directed to? If it's me.. ah yeah, I'm from Michigan and grew up a Wolverine fan. Band wagon indeed... If it's not directed at me-- then ignore this post :-P
  8. Well, just thought I'd correct you since it's really very easy. Nobody ever calls it Michigan University-- it's so easy.. even a baby would know it. - Will Ferrell Won't matter, after 12/28, Michigan fans will forget about it other than it being the "lousy bowl we cleaned up on some scrub team"...
  9. Ah.. you can say something like that after you beat a real team this year... so far the best wins you have are against Colorado and Iowa State-- who are both by my count one step away from total losers.
  10. Duh.. Michigan has the most to lose. If Michigan wins: Michigan fans aren't excited because we were supposed to anyway. Nebraska fans will say "hey, you were supposed to anyway- big deal" The nation at-large looks at the game and says, who cares, no surprise. If Nebraska wins: Michigan fans are very disappointed to lose to an unranked opponent (I personally will be very disappointed, because I had the pleasure of watching Nebraska suck it up most of the year.. and therefore I know NU does not have a good team). Nebraska fans get all excited over beating a "good" team and it goes on to help the program, etc., etc.... The nation at-large looks at the game and says "hey, Nebraska is coming back" This is obvious... and you guys wonder why Michigan fans aren't excited about playing in a game that has very little to offer as a reward for winning?? The reward for winning is to not be embaressed. They may as well have put Michigan in the Motor City Bowl. I really would feel no different-- other than I wouldn't have to deal with all the local hoopla of nauseating Husker hopefuls. The team is still going to show up ready to play-- and in my mind, they will be even more ready to play because the bowls have disrespected us... they say "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned-- well hopefully that translates to Wolverines too...
  11. Sorry to hear those guys can't play. I want Michigan to smoke your team, but I honestly feel bad when guys can't actually play in the game. That's tough news for seniors especially.
  12. Yeah, I get your drift. You see all of your skill players doing really awesome. Wooo!!! Go Huskers yaahhhh.... ppppppppfffffftthhhbbb!!!!
  13. You guys are hilarious. Way to "scout" Michigan. Which is UM once again- NOT MU. On that note, the Huskers are from Nebraska College, right?
  14. Alright, I'd have to agree with that somewhat. The schools leading into medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and nursing are great. I tend to focus on that because that's where I am. I guess I can't speak on behalf of the other schools. Speaking of the health science related programs though, people come from all over the country to go to Creighton-- because it has a strong reputation and a proven system of producing great health professionals. I have no idea about our law programs or graduate business field-- or any of the artsy-fartsy fields, so UNL may well be better in those areas. I also know our football team was undefeated this season ;-) This still leaves the point that CU fans are just as classy as Husker fans. I mean come on-- there's a good chunk of the state that trades in their Husker red for Bluejay blue during basketball season.. sad, but true... so in effect, a lot of these people come from the same fan base. I really think the only reason any Husker fans would dislike Creighton would be due to some sort of jealousy of because of Creighton's success in basketball-- and maybe even the competitiveness that our baseball team shows at times. Maybe there's resentment because some people associate Creighton with the whole Creighton Prep/Marian association that ties in with the whole "stuck-up private school" thing. I did my undergrad at Creighton and came from a public high school, but I never really saw that kind of attitude from most Creighton kids. So personally I think it's just some kind of unfounded stigma. I think the real key to Creighton being a great school is that it's only 4000 undergrads or so and it has a full complement of grad programs... so if you want to go to Medical or Dental school, you've got a leg-up on the competition because you're a Creighton student AND you have a much smaller pool of competition that comes from your school for getting in. Whereas at Lincoln, you've got 30-40 thousand students vying for a similar amount of seats in each grad program as are available at Creighton. So basically, it's way advantageous to go to Creighton in that light. I'd be willing to bet that there's way more "pre-meds/dents/etc/etc" that go by the wayside at UNL than are at CU... but statistically you'd expect that given the numbers. You'd think it'd be so much less stressful then... but honestly it's not since they make you pay for it in the classroom. You take the bad with the good I guess. Clinic setting is great at Creighton too because patient base is huge too. I don't know what it's like at Lincoln, so I really couldn't compare that. So that was entirely getting off subject, so I should at least end this with something in the spirit of the game.. GO BLUE!!!!! I hope Taylor likes the #78, because that's what he's going to have imprinted across his jersey all day long. ;-)
  15. CU fans are classless? I was at the NIT game where Nebraska actually beat Creighton and I would hardly call the Husker fans "classy." Spilling beer all over the Qwest Center and barking it up about your one win in like forever- yeah, you guys are way more holy than us. Sounds like you're just salty that we trump your sorry basketball team just about every year. I particularly enjoyed the 26 point thrashing, even though we didn't have our best player and didn't really play a good game. You guys are awesome. In other words, don't say we're classless simply because we are better than you in a major sport and compete with you in others, despite the fact that Nebraska is about 10x as big. That and the fact that Creighton is a far better academic institution. If you want to argue against that sometime, I'm all game for it.
  16. Sounds like somebody's an unhappy camper. Don't get mad just because your program is broken. I'm glad you beat Colorado convincingly so you can get your hopes up for this one. The scUM is going to roll up and throw away NU like yesterday's Lincoln Star.
  17. Look.. if you want to prove something statistical or otherwise, that's fair when using strength of schedule. But in 1997, Michigan played a strong schedule to get where they got-- Nebraska's may have been strong too, but the thin disparity proves little by statistical comparison. Conversely, when looking at the schedules this year, there is a WIDE discrepency as to the level of competition each team faced and therefore has more validation of statistical comparison-- but nothing more.
  18. Yeah, I don't know how much longer that super glue is going to hold that thing together.
  19. Am I talking about predictions of the Michigan/Nebraska game here? No. My point was that when you compared Michigan and Nebraska's run/pass statistics, it's comparing apples to oranges because the competition is different. Read the whole thread before you speak.
  20. Let me handle that one for you... According to the AP.. Michigan faced #3 Penn State #4 Ohio State #5 Notre Dame #21 Wisconsin #25 Iowa RV Northwestern RV Minnesota Nebraska faced #18 Texas Tech RV Oklahoma RV Iowa State
  21. pigsonwings, you're right. But I have to tell you, my roommate knows how to throw a controller like none other. That boy should have been a quarterback.
  22. I had a dynasty going with my roommate (a Husker fan) and we met in the Fiesta Bowl one year for the national championship-- Michigan 70, Nebraska 41. The next year, we agreed on a home-and-home... we played that year in Lincoln--- Michigan 42, Nebraska 14. We never played the next year in Ann Arbor because he quit after that season. This proves that Michigan is way better than Nebraska.
  23. I'm glad it's assumed that Nebraska has the best fans. That's personal opinion, you can't make fact of that. Are you the best because you're the most obsessed? By the way, Michigan is going to spank Nebraska in a few weeks. How's that for hateful?
  24. Am I talking to an adult here? This sounds like idiot jabber you hear on the school bus when you're a kid. Let's see, I can play this game too... The only reason Nebraska got a share of the title is because they cheated to win the game against Missouri. The ball was illegally kicked in the end zone and should have been an incompletion- therefore Missouri wins the game and Nebraska finishes the season with a loss. There is no dispute then on Michigan's outright championship. There won't be a single Husker fan in here that will agree, because any good fan wouldn't admit to it. BUT I know deep in your heart-of-hearts it pains you because it's devestatingly true. Oh yeah.. if there was a game, Michigan wins it 100 out of 100 times. Michigan is better no matter how you look at it... gosh, where have I heard that before? Seriously, no one could know the outcome... except for me because God told me through divine thought that Michigan would have won the game 105-0. He also told me that you cheated to score that 0 somehow. I think it should've been more like 105-(-17). If this post curdled your blood- then good... that's about how ridiculous you sound.
