I enjoy wrestling, was a state qualifier 3 of 4 years in high school. (best finish 5th @ 119) Wrestling however is not a profitable sport. Not even in Iowa is it a profitable sport. Baseball on the other hand can be "if" there was only a little effort put forth by the conference but they instead push a "fairness" agenda in spring saying there's just not enough viewers to promote every spring sport so instead of focusing on one (like they do in the fall & winter, football & basketball respectively). The promote a fairness schedule of sports that have a small number of viewers. I will credit the B1G for change as they did over the last two fall seasons program more volleyball which was fun to see. So change can happen.

Baseball could and should be the primary spring sport and the rest of the programing sprinkled in. Midweek & weekends should have 2 games each day. So 2 on Tuesday & Wednesday (4 total), 2 on each of the weekend dates (6 total). Thats 10 conference games weekly. There is 8 weeks of conference play equating to 60 games that could be programmed. In those 8 weeks they could program the midweek schedules as well resulting in 32 midweek games. In total, before conference tournament play begins that would equate to 92 games... Guess what conference has made "that" commitment?

    Edit..

Remember also, some of those lost potential revenue games could be programmed by Fox Sports or even, dare I say it, the "P" word?

You didn't say anything about profitable your quote was listed below:

The B1G simply refuses to enhance the viewing experience on BTN+ (more like BTN Sucks). The only male sports they've invested in is football and only slightly in basketball.

I'm simply pushing back on that notion as the Big Ten has invested in making wrestling a more enjoyable sport to watch.

I think everyone would rather watch a live event over a replay event. Keep the replay events on the btn+ and see how many people will actually pay to watch it. They know full well the answer is zero (or close to zero) and so, for profits sake, put the live event on btn+ with mostly s#!t camera work and often atrocious play by play. I'd actually subscribe to btn+ if they used a little professionalism and showed they are investing in the experience but instead they simply pay the dividends to the investor while holding a huge "FU" & "TY" simultaneously. The B1G simply refuses to enhance the viewing experience on BTN+ (more like BTN Sucks). The only male sports they've invested in is football and only slightly in basketball. Though at least in basketball they spread the conference games out so each is televised. So yeah.. they've invested in basketball.

It's probably not your cup of tea and I realize I'm nitpicking here but the Big Ten has heavily invested in wrestling the last couple years and really turned into a great TV product. They've really blown up their 'Friday Night Wrestling' thing and done a nice job of showcasing great matchups. Granted this can be done because the Big Ten is the big dog in college wrestling.

  3. I generally loathe most things ESPN but their college baseball streaming options on ESPN+/SEC+/ACCNX are just top notch and that's on top of the nice job that the SEC Network does once conference play gets going. The thing is, it's not the Big Ten is pumping out tons of content during the spring/summer.

That being said, $40/yr for BTN+ for conference baseball isn't too bad. My big gripe is the camera set up in a few parks is generally brutal and makes the games unwatchable.

I mean, of course the gamblers were taking OSU at home vs a NU team that pretty much always loses on the road.

Not ever loss is some conspiracy.

The line actually dropped in favor of Nebraska once Thornton for tOSU was declared out. It dropped to -2.5 from -3.5

This bulls#!t is exactly why Taylor and I broke up years ago.  Things were pretty hot and heavy between us then she dropped the same rules on me. I told her what she could do with her clothing allowance (only $250k at that time). She begged me to reconsider but I dumped her a$$. I told her that she was being mean and that we were never getting back together.

  6. Abbreviated thoughts from the dual. Some interesting officiating there at times...

125--ASU wins the toss up match, all of these 125 matches are razor thin affairs. Figueroa is a tough dude.

    133--Nice win by Van Dee

141--Hardy did what he needed to do to control and get the win.

149--Tough beat for Ridge. I didn't love the 1st stalling call on him but at the same time, I don't think Ridge took a single offensive shot the entire match. These are the types of matches he'll need to win if he wants to get to the top of the podium. Hat tip to Parco, he scored on a great shot there.

157--Stiles really handled himself well. He had Teemer in a lot of trouble there and I thought it was a little bit chicken stuff that they let Teemer bail out into a potentially dangerous situation when he was a 1 count away from being in neutral danger. Meh.

165--Really nice job by Taylor pouring it on at the end and getting the nice win.

174--Snooze fest, nice job Bubba winning 1-0 haha

184--Solid job by Lenny controlling the match, no real fault there at the end giving up the TD when Lenny was trying to get bonus points.

197--Allred hammered that dude. Nice job getting a TF over a clearly overmatched opponent.

HWT--Nash gets the FF'd with Schultz out of town for Pan-Ams I think? It's looking more and more likely that Nash will be the guy at HWT for Nebraska in the post season.

Next stop: The boys get a little time off to rest and recharge and then it's Big Tens on March 9th and 10th in Maryland. GBR!

Has GCU announced their rotation, I haven’t seen it? I was assuming that they would throw their ace tomorrow to keep the true Friday-Friday rotation. We kept ours the same, just added Christo to the front end.

I took this from Evan Bland's OWH article on the series:

    Nebraska at Grand Canyon

Where: Brazell Field at GCU Ballpark, Phoenix, Arizona

    Radio: Huskers Radio Network

    Video stream: ESPN+

7 p.m. Thursday: RHP Drew Christo (0-0, 9.00 ERA) vs. RHP Daniel Avitia (1-0, 1.50)

    7 p.m. Friday: RHP Brett Sears (0-0, 1.69) vs. RHP Carter Young (1-0, 1.80)

7 p.m. Saturday: LHP Will Walsh (0-0, 4.76) vs. RHP Connor Mattison (3.00)

  8. I'm about 2/3 of the way through Griselda on Netflix. Premise of the show is it's based on Griselda Blanco who was a ruthless cocaine trafficker in Miami back in the 1980s. In the show she's played by Sofia Vergara which is hysterical because Griselda was...not attractive. If you don't know anything about her it's pretty good. I had already seen a couple documentaries so I was pretty familiar but still wanted to give it a watch. It's only 6 episodes so not too bad. There is some graphic violence (headless corpses, etc) and a little big of nudity so buyer beware there.

I think Iowa is due for a step back.  They cannot bank on the defense and special teams being top 5 every single year.  When Kirk doubled down on "we don't want any offense beyond hold the ball for as long as possible" yet again with his OC hire, I became bearish on them moving forward in an expanded and slightly more competitive B1G.  They no longer have the luxury of playing the same patsies in the West year after year.  Kirk should have retired last year as my guy tells me that was the peak and they will struggle to get to 7/8 wins moving forward with the same old offensive crap being rolled out.

    I don't disagree

That totally depends on how each season goes.  We will know one hell of a lot more about each program before that game.

Yep agreed. Just seems like the home team is usually always favored when these 2 teams play. This is also just a way too early guess on my part based on historical guessing.

They will be bowl eligible after the first 7 games.

It is the last 5 that will be a big deal.

3-2 over the last 5 and you have a Husker team that could be 10-2 and looking at a playoff bid.

NU will be favored in every game this season with the exception of OSU and USC.

Probably a dog at Iowa, otherwise agree.
