  1. Maybe things will start to "crystalize" for Eichorst tonight with:
  2. This x1324234235 power football wins championships. Look how many Oregon has trying to be fancy. How many does Stanford have? Wisconsin? Alabama sure does have a few Championships playing power football in the last decade. Ohio St. won last year running power plays out of shotgun. Funny I don't see any Spread/West Coast finesse teams winning them... USC under Carroll. (West Coast) Texas with Vince Young (Spread) Florida with Tebow (Spread) Bama won all 3 with Pro Style/West Coast Yes but all those programs easily get top talent but with the type of talent that NEBRASKA can only get, you have to run a simple offense. A power run offense with option, play action passing, are all simple schemes to coach with 2 and 3 star recruits.
  3. Yeah, I'm definitely not on board with this staff. Right now, we're just hoping to break even on the year to make a bowl and even that is unlikely given the results thus far.
  4. This is where TA throws another pick six.
  5. Did you really think there was even a 0.1% chance of that happening? But but we pay a coach $900,000 a year to coach the ST...
  6. Yeah it's getting old, isn't it? The post game pressers where we lose and smile about it then on Monday the traditional 5-7 minute opener on the "good things we did even though we lost" bullet points. I'll pass.
  7. Maybe somehow the D will force a surprise turnover and we put on a long drive, score a TD and 2-point conversion?
  8. Game over. NW is going to drive to score.
  9. Yep it's like the Titanic sinking and there is nothing we can do about it but go down with it.
  10. I'd first get rid of Stewart. I think Banker's system works, really. The front 7 are causing havoc. Back 4 simply can't finish the plays. It's not all on Stewart. We run a quarters scheme where the DB's are expected to do a lot and have to trust one another or the scheme fails. The DB's are basically on an island to defend for themselves with no support. Stanford and Pitt HC Narduzzi run a better quarters coverage. With that scheme, you pretty much look to have 9 guys in the box and safeties playing 6-9 yards from the LOS to help in run support this results of course in giving up space to get beat deep.
  11. Thanks for that insight on the first game of the season. Duke 158 yards Ball st 180 yards Mich. 200 yards. Iowa. 300. Yards. I can see why you stay away. You don't know football Considering the fact that NW has the 67th ranked rush D allowing 154.6 yards on the ground per game we've kind of given up on attacking that even if it doesn't work, we seem to bail on the run game which is a huge mistake, IMO.
  12. Yep. And that what we as fans have seen (Wilbon, OZ) obviously doesn't tell the whole story...... They must suck in practice The staff has made it clear that they want an APB someone who can block, catch, run. Notice how I place run as the third most important thing? That's because that is what this staff teaches.
  13. Why run it when we have Tommy Manning under center?
  14. Gangwish had a bad angle at the point of attack too so we kind of make this QB look like a world beater.
  15. Or Banker, or Stewart or the ST coach..... Riley might be the guy, but his staff is a huge downgrade IMO. Not ready to buy into that yet. We have to give them another season before really seeing if the staff sucks. But why? Riley's record with these guys at Oregon State speaks for itself. Why let them re-write history here for a storied program? If we finish 4-8 I think the staff is done like dinner.
  16. I stand by what I said earlier...If Riley & this staff cannot win at least 6 games...just 6 games with this talent then we should cut our losses at the end of this season and make a change for the betterment of the program. The problem is there have been a lot of head coaches that go 5-7 but turn it around in year 2. Only way Riley goes is either by realizing this wasn't meant for him and steps down OR boosters/fan disappointment is at Callahan level and Eichorst gives in and admits his mistake and goes for hire no. 2 ala Pat Haden at USC.
  17. I do not see this team going bowling this year. We may not even beat Purdue. The only saving grace is upset either unbeaten MSU or Iowa to prevent HCMR's seat from getting warm.
