  1. https://www.landof10.com/nebraska/next-generation-andrew-ward "MUSKEGON, Mich. — Andrew Ward sat alone on the curb in front of his childhood home surrounded by broken glass, a box full of toys for a 6-month-old and a sofa. “Stay here,” he was told that morning, “and make sure no one takes our things.” And so the 13-year-old sat, in jeans and a blue Detroit Lions hoodie, in front of his empty home on a chilly October morning in 2013. He’d thought today was moving day. At least that’s what he’d been told. So Ward woke up early, excited with the promise of a new place. And while his mom took care of his 6-month-old brother, Emmanuel, Ward and his older cousin unpacked the house. They loaded a truck and drove family heirlooms and dressers to a storage unit. After a few trips, a sheriff and the landlord showed up at the house. They began to help move things out onto the porch to expedite the process, which made Ward happy. Less work for him, he thought. When the Michigan fall began to bite, and Ward’s cousin wanted to go inside to warm up, the sheriff blocked the door while the landlord, wielding a power drill, removed the locks. The sheriff stuck out a hand. “This isn’t your home anymore,” he said. In the yard, that’s when Ward put it together. They weren’t moving. They were being evicted. And now homeless." Absolutely amazing read on incoming linebacker Andrew Ward. Will definitely be cheering for this man even harder now. Glad to have him in the fold and in an environment where him and his family can succeed.
  2. https://www.landof10.com/penn-state/5-star-recruit-micah-parsons-enjoying-fresh-start-penn-state-de-commitment-discusses-visit-plans?utm_campaign=SF_Landof10_Neb&utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=Social He told Land of 10 a final college choice likely won’t occur until National Signing Day, nine months from now, and that the door is open for plenty of programs. His summer travel itinerary reinforces that notion. Parsons mentioned Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Miami and Nebraska as possible destinations before his senior year. He wants to use two official visits during the season, then take the final three official visits between December and February. At this point, Parsons isn’t certain about where he’ll utilize any of those official visits. Ohio State, fresh off hosting him for its April 15 spring game, should be a legitimate contender. The Buckeyes primarily project him as a hand-in-the-dirt defender. Ohio State staff members also discussed the potential for Parsons to play in a “Jack” (hybrid linebacker/defensive end) role. Georgia, Nebraska and USC view him as a stand-up defender. His versatility is a topic that creates debate about his eventual landing spot on the field. He claimed linebacker MVP honors Sunday at The Opening regional but also worked at defensive end. Parsons compared his skill set to the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Myles Garrett — a former 5-star prospect himself.
  3. out of curiosity is he friends with the TE we were recruiting last year that went to Memphis? I remember there being a group of like 4 kids from OK that went to UM

For one, Moore grew up a fan of the team. He grew up less than six hours away from Tiger Stadium, giving the out-of-state power a small advantage over the Aggies and Longhorns. Only LSU and Florida State have offered Moore the ability to compete in both football and track. As much of a star as Moore is on the gridiron, he’s equally competitive when it comes to running, which has allowed those two programs to separate from others over the past few months. And then there’s the priority treatment. LSU is in desperate need of depth at the wide receiver position, and that opportunity is brought up frequently when Moore speaks to wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph. Time and time again, Moore has woken up to 70 messages from multiple members of the LSU coaching staff. So has his mother and his coach at IMG Academy (Fla.). The communication has been consistent, too. Florida State emerged as the early leader for Moore during his visits to multiple campuses this spring. LSU garnered momentum after a visit for national junior day before Nebraska jumped into the mix as a power player after hosting the 4-star recruit for its spring game. Top three of LSU, Florida State and Nebraska? Perhaps. The question is whether the opportunities available to Moore and his childhood fandom can put the Tigers ahead of the pack. The countdown to June 18 is on.

  6. Tommy Armstrong is heading to the Vikings, but it won’t be as a quarterback. The former Nebraska signal-caller announced Saturday night he will be trying out for the Vikings as an undrafted free agent. He later spoke to the Lincoln Journal Star about what position he might play. “They want me to play kind of running back, but try me out at a bunch of other things because I’m an athlete,” Armstrong told the paper. The paper reported the Vikings will be offering Armstrong a chance to try out in order to earn a deal. http://www.twincities.com/2017/04/29/nebraskas-tommy-armstrong-to-try-out-for-vikings-to-play-kind-of-running-back/?utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#link_time=1493526810 updating title to reflect the status of try out rather than signing
  7. https://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2017/04/whats_the_difference_between_an_undrafted_free_age.html The main difference is if you're an undrafted free agent, you sign your contract immediately," the agent said. "If you're getting invited for a tryout, you're not signing a contract. You're basically going out there with a two- or thee-day tryout and then they decide out of this pool of 15 or 20 guys they brought in, 'OK, we're going to sign this one or that one.' Then at that point, (tryout players) sign their contract as an undrafted free agent."
