You're probably right. Our defense is just garbage right now. As others have previously stated, we can't cover anyone on the back end and when we blitz it is from 15 yards away (hyperbole). Chinander (and the rest of these coaches are east of the rock and west of the hard place. Very little talent, no depth...these coaches are playimg the hand they were dealt. The issues facing Nebraska this season can only be fixed (again, as others have previously memtioned) over time through coaching, development, and recruiting.

Couldn't agree more. Yeah this season is a dumpster fire no doubt about it. The weird thing is, I am seeing positive steps and the team as a whole is getting better--just don't have any wins right now to show for it.

I learned that for all the talk from fans about the players "quitting" it is these fans who have quit on the team. Yeah, we're 0-6. Yeah, it sucks. But, this was the first time this season (pretty sure any way) we had a lead going into the 4th Q. Results aren't showing by wins, but this is actually getting better. Right now Frost and these coaches are trying to win with one phase of the game--offense. They are east of the rock and west of the hard place. They have to play the hand they were dealt. We have no depth to speak of on both interior lines and aside from Stoltenberg and the Davis twins, no one really else who is capable on defense. The punt return game is non-existent, we can't block anyone seemingly on kickoffs, and on defense we just can't stop anyone. To all you arm chair experts calling for Chinader to be fired, give me a f'ing break. He is doing the best he can with what he has. Now, if this is the type of product we're seeing in year 3 on defense...then we can talk about maybe bringing in a new DC. Plus, you guys have to keep in mind how many DCs and DB coaches we've had in the last 6-7 years. That is tough for players--a lot tougher than you would ever imagine. I know it doesn't look like it, but this team did vet a little better today. Yeah the loss sucks, but I am seeing some really good and positive steps in the right direction.

1. Makes great plays on 1st and 2nd down, then gives up 15 yards allowing opposing offenses to get a 1st down. Rinse and repeat ad nauseum. 2. Defensive backs who, inexplicably, cannot look back for the ball and invariably draw pass interference penalties. 3. Idiotic roughing/hits on the QB giving the opposing team a free first down. 4. Incredibly thin depth across the entire defense. 5. Our best player on defense, Mick Stoltenberg, is out. 6. No real capable edge rusher from either OLB or DE.

Some of you guys are in absolute ludicrous meltdown mode right now. Get a freaking grip.

Oz has made tremendous strides as player under Coach Frost. Just imagine how great he would be if he was just a freshman or sophomore and had a few more years left.

It seems like we throw to the sideline or deep, with almost nothing in-between. It's like Tim Beck is our OC again.

Not entirely true. Ozigbo has been a good, borderline great player, as is JD Spielman, and some others.

I don't get it. How can Nebraska look so damn good on their opening drive and look like garbage the rest of the 1st half? (Final 2:53 notwithstanding.) Edit: I say that then Neb takes the ball right down the field and scores a TD.

As others have speculated, no depth and have no one behind them. Not saying that is true, but it seems reasonable.

The NW player hit Martinez with his shoulder. It still should have been a penalty though. If that was a NU defender I guarantee you the refs would have thrown a flag.
