  1. Well, to be fair, is like a 25 hour drive from LA to Lincoln, so if buying plane tickets to travel regularly isn't an option for them, then staying in the P12 makes some sense..... Friends and family will have an easier time traveling to any of his away games at UCLA, USC, Stanford, Cal, ASU, and Arizona than they would for NU.
  2. I thought so too. I truly love when kids have enough love, trust, and respect for their parents to include them in their major life decisions, I just hope she wasn't the main or biggest reason behind this.
  3. Remember that time when USC (or was it tOSU?) had the momentum and was the trendy choice days and weeks before KJJ committed to NU? I remember that too.
  4. That seals it in my mind. Can't help but think in the long run he'll regret letting a 16-17 year old girl drive his decision, but I do think that's a big factor. That's what best friends are supposed to be there for. Not a failure of KJ & Gebbia if DH picks his GF, maybe they're one of the few couples who can make it last. But, in general, that seems less likely than him picking NU tomorrow. I tried talking my best friend out of thinking his sweetheart was his best choice for the future, he didn't listen, it derailed his opportunities after hs, and now she has a family with another guy... Another of my best friends is happily married to his high school sweetheart, with 2 kids.... It always seems unlikely, but ya never know if you don't try, life is weird... Good friends at least try to point that stuff out tho.
  5. Mom & dad, and gf: "Darnay, we would really love for you to stay in California." Darnay: "I really want that too, which is why I'm choosing Calibraska." It's a movement.
  6. Possibly his parents are split on which LA school is the best choice?
  7. Nope. Not in today's environment - I made a new year's resolution to speak up. It's an awareness thing and I was polite. Lol, good luck.
  8. I didn't figure that they were related otherwise you would assume that the recruiting services would've written about both Darnay and KJJ from that angle by now, but there must be a deep connection somewhere. I'm curious of that connection, how far back they, whether its a connection with the Dad's, Mom's, or whoever. I can't imagine it makes a huge difference amongst these final 4, but I'm just curious about their back story is all -- maybe KJ can address it if he ever write an autobiography.
  9. I agree. He's handled this process very well, it would be great to have that sort of attitude and composure on the team. It would suck if he chooses to go to one of the other schools, but its impossible to not respect the time and effort he's put into making this choice. If it was my son, I couldn't fault him in the least bit for choosing from this list of schools, all are good choices.
  10. That is an interesting factoid. Regardless of how much it influences his final college decision, it must be really cool for him to have KJ's help though out this process. Does anyone know how the Holmes family is connected to KJ?? I find the God-Parent dynamic an interesting part of peoples lives and would be curious to hear about this connection. I know of God Parents that are simply good friends of the family, but of course siblings and extended family seem to be the more common choices for God Parents from my view. Is KJ related to the Holmes family? Are Darnay and KJJ cousins??
  11. I think its fair to say that the jury is still out. I fully expect Herman to do very well, but the jury is still out imo.... There are plenty of examples of good coaches not succeeding at new jobs - Steve Spurrier, Chip Kelly, Brian Kelly, Nick Saban (Miami Dolphis), ect, ect.... Even in Houston's recent history you have examples of Art Briles and Kevin Sumlin who were both fairly successful at Houston before moving to another coaching gig. And not to say that Sumlin and Briles haven't had good success since leaving Houston, but its not like they won any National Titles either.... Would a Kevin Sumlin level of success keep Longhorn fans happy for more than 4 or 5 years? What if they don't beat OU anytime within the next 3 or 4 years? That seems very possible with the current state of OU and Texas football right now, and if that happens, Herman will be on the hot seat for sure.
