  1. Again, I'm not saying he should be the coach here. I was ready to throw in the towel too, but I can admit that it takes more than three seasons to install a new system and make up for the situation that he inherited. Same should be said for Scott. We are not a top 25 program, and will be installing a new system. That normally takes 5 or 6 seasons to do. Even for above average coaches, and even at places like FSU and Clemson. Riley has a lot of skills, most of them aren't on the sideline, but to say he is a complete failure is way off base.
  2. I really hope he's given the chance. Hell I'd be happy if he got a raise after everything he's done. I would love for him to be a recruiting advisor or Unity Council organizer or anything really. He took over an at best an average roster, with the responsibility of changing systems and improving the culture. Along the way he was also given an ultimatum to change his DC, which he complied with the AD on. He was given 3 years to overhaul everything, the idea that he failed all on his own accord is sad. We are one Alumni-connection away from looking like Tennessee at this point.... I have no problem throwing in the towel on Riley being "the guy" to get NU back to national relevance, and I'm glad we have Frost, but to say Riley failed is insane. The idea that Frost will do any better in 3 years time is unlikely - possible, but unlikely.
  3. Maybe this had been posted already, but for the in-state folks, tune into PBS. There is a TO documentary/telethon on.... I just flipped over by chance, hopefully it's on for another hour. This is going to be a long off season.
  4. Idk who the top candidate is, but I didn't think their fans would be happy with him.... With as much money as they've raised to try to keep Frost, they can afford to hop after someone with a better resume. They could easily go after someone like Helfrich who would just be able to continue Frosts system for the most part. Or anyone like that.... They better go get the best G5 coach for next season, not an total unknown.
  5. Oh that's just a cultural difference - that's just how they treat family!!
  6. Haha, I do what I can!!..... But wait, whats so funny about corn??
  7. So far, so good! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqjJXxBwyl4
  8. Helfrich isn't a mega star, and Milles is an offensive line coach. Lol
  9. What do you mean? A few transfers out or in? With as thin as our roster is, I hope we hold onto everyone. We need all hands on deck, and then some walkons too. They might not fit perfectly into the system, but we need good leaders and people willing to work through some adversity.
  10. I agree with you, it is weird that us fans generally look at it that way... But at the same time, it's equally weird, and a real shame, that the NFL is such a dream destination. Idealy these kids find universities that they're comfortable at, and are majoring in areas they want to pursue outside of football someday.... The NFL is a fun lottery ticket to work towards, but its contributions to the home communities of these players are minimal, and the folks that run the show will dump the players and/or coaches as fast or faster than us fans.
  11. The only problem with that thought is that there wasn't very much green in the stands. It looked all black and gold.
  12. There was either a lot of USF fans there, or the UCF fans need to practice being good fans at games.... Milton, the UCF QB, had to do the "quiet down" hand wave to the fans once or twice. Its like the fans were trying to prove that they can be loud, but their did it at the wrong time, all game.
  13. To add to that a little, I also think they want to be a little public with their search at this point... I think they want to use this AAC game as a commercial for a new coach a little bit. The announcers will undoubtedly talk about Frost to NU, but if it's "official" ahead of game time, the announcers can also talk about how great a program UCF is and can be. Rather than looking like they had blinders on this hole time when Frost is in Lincoln on Sunday.
  14. He hasn't had a winning record in conference play since his first year at aTm, and that was with someone else's players. He'd make a really nice coordinator or position coach on a championship team, but not as a HC.
  15. UCLA has to be happy, and I'll think aTm will come out of this pretty happy too.
  16. It's hard to give you a percentage or anything. It's the coaching carousel, it's the internet, and LH had posted on several sites over the years (so its impossible to know everything he's ever said). I doubt It's anything that we don't already know, but it's good confirmation to have though.
  17. Louisiana Husker has a long track record, including a few posts on this site. He's a usually got good sources... I'm actually surprised it took him this long to say anything.
  18. I just want to reach through the computer screen and clock him. What an awful person... I'd bet money that dippy doo follows Danial tosh on Twitter. Or maybe it is Danial tosh trying to get a reaction (tosh is a ucf alum).
  19. The only thing I've heard is that they'd like a response within 24 hours so that they can get everthing square away or plan accordingly.... Which, reading between the lines, means that he told them he's coming to Nebraska, and they need 24 hours too figure out how to spin it to their fans.
  20. He may have been an eye witness to child abuse at Penn state.
  21. Well to be fair, if true, Tennessee fans have a little more right to be mad. Riley by all all accounts is a half decent guy. But it does go to show the power of timing.... We announced Riley at noon on a Monday or Tuesday when everybody was at work. Not on a holiday weekend/Sunday when everyone is at home and able to research and then get mad... As far as ugly hires, a weekday is the way to go. With Riley, it was a conversation starter at work, but 30 mins later everyone was focused on their jobs again.
  22. Just throwing names around, but why not Fisher?... If he would be willing to go to aTm, then why not Tenn? At least at Tennessee he'd still have a game in Florida most years and be able to maintain his current recruiting connections.
