  1. Scott will want to earn a ring if he gets the chance. It may hurt our recruiting class this year, but could pay dividends over the next 5 year's. You don't get to play for a championship ever year, he's got to finish the job of he's given the chance.
  2. They'd be silly to not try to do everything possible to keep Frost, so nothing they do at this point should surprise anyone.... However, I take this as more of them seeing the writing on the wall, and wanting to get ahead of everything to land the next best coach. There are a lot of decent coaches and coordinators who should be interested in that job if it's available, but UCF needs to start talking to those coaches like yesterday to land one. With as many openings as the is and as many coordinators who are going to be mincing themselves, UCF needs to be ontop of it all, which means learning from Frost one way or another (and maybe announcing his decision just to creat some publicity for the job opening).
  3. Yeah that's dumb. I guess he can stop calling them the Blackshirts, but our starting unit should still wear Blackshirts during practice. He can call them whatever he wants I guess.
  4. As they should be. Tenn fans might be dumb, but they aren't THAT dumb. Schianno won't be beating Saban or winning any NCs while he's there.
  5. If that's all true, then whodoes aTm go after? If it's Fisher, then who does FSU go after?
  6. Did they take down everything on Frost or just Frost/NU? ASU firing Graham makes me nervous. I don't think Frost would want that job over UF or NU, but it would certainly be a nice spot for his family.
  7. It's not a great job, but it has a lot of potential. It's essentially the Bo Pelini of colleges. Has a lot to offer, but the few negatives far outweigh the positives.
  8. Honesty he should just take the podium and Husker press conference background with him to Orlando. Hold the presser in Orlando, maybe at Frosts backyard pool (it would be an amazing, wwe level interview), and then let Frost go recruit some before flying to Lincoln only to fly to Orlando again a day or two later...
  9. I think he'd be amazing too, but he'd have to prove that he can build relationships with HS kids and coaches... I think he would do really really well, but until he proves that he can, it's hard to justify $7 or $8m per year on a guy. Do most Buc's fans regret firing him? I know his team's kind of stalled out in the end, and sometimes fresh faces are necessary, but that has to be one of the worst decisions in the history of the NFL.
  10. I'd put him in the same category as Saban and Meyer. But between the 3 of them, Petersen seems like the coach that I would most want to play for. The other two come across as crusty and egotistical. Petersen seems far more relatable and down to earth, which I think makes him the tip coach in the country even though he doesn't have any rings.
  11. You make a good point with that comparison. But Idk, even once he is "accepted", the fan base is going to split at the first sign of failure imo. They might not want to fire him over night, but you can be sure people would be talking about Frost after Fuente's first loss.
  12. I agree about Fuente, but the fan base as a whole (the fans who don't follow every day online like us) would do exactly what they did when Riley was hired. "Who? What a mistake, who cares."
  13. The fracture is tied to the apathy. Its not that we're fractured and that we'll revolt as fans or anything. We'll simply continue to see empty seats in the 3rd quarter when we're losing a game. Consider the excitement level for the up coming off season if Riley had been retained. It would be at an all time low.... Campbell or Sumlin won't make nearly the difference that Frost would in that regard. Campbell or Sumlin would be greated with a "prove it" mentality by a lot of fans. Frost will be greater with more of a "welcome home, now get it done" mentality.
  14. He's not the only coach who can fix our on the field issues, but that's not the entire point or role he'll have here. For the current state of affairs in Lincoln, Frost is clearly the best hope. Hopefully over the next 15 year's he improves the standard at NU where we're not just throwing coaches memes as a wall and hoping one sticks like we've done I've the past 15 years. Currently thing, we sort of need someone to step in and be more than just a good Xs and Os guy or a great recruiter or whatever,
  15. I think the whole "Frost is the only hope" idea is based on more than just coaching. Moos hit on fan apathy and a fracture within the fan base during his presser yesterday. Frost is probably the only coach at this time (realistic coach anyway) that 90% of Husker could both be excited for and patient with. He's the only option that grew up in rural Nebraska and understands the fan mentality of Husker fans - "its definitely about more than winning, but don't lose to Illinois and Purdue, ever." If we hire Campbell or Fuente or whoever, it's going to be a long apathetic of season. Leach is really the only other realistic option that would generate major excitement, but it'd probably be the wrong type of excitement for over half the fan base.
  16. If that really was his reaction, then I'm not sure he can handle the responsibilities and pressure of being in Lincoln.
  17. Idk if there is any connection, ontop of the fact that Dewitt seems like a logical guy for Frost to bring with him, but it would be cool if we found a spot for Scott White - LB coach from UCLA... He's coached Miles Jack, Anthony Barr, Eric Kendricks, ect... I think he was the P12 Recruiter of the year a few years back. Would be good to have a west coast recruiting connection.
  18. Esp if we get Scott at a lower price than what is rumored by FL... Not saying that we wouldn't or couldn't match other offers, just that if Scott turns down $7m at FL for at $5m at NU, that sends a big message.
  19. Tallahassee hasn't been good to Fisher... Divorce, of the field issues with players, growing issues with fan and booster support. Idk that he'll leave this season, but I don't think he'll be there for more than another year or two. His contract is really the biggest issue.... aTm would be a good spot for him, so if it opens up, who knows.
  20. And Texas, OU, Oregon, and LSU just last season, although a different scenario with LSU and OU. Georgia, Miami, USC, and Va Tech the year before that. There are always 3 or 4 major coaches searches each year.
  21. Well Mike Riley is still in the mix then, hehehe. Personally I like the idea of Sumlin way way more than Chip Kelly (who also happened to be fired by his last two employers, so let's cross him from the list).
  22. UCLA is the school that scares me most, outside of Frost staying at UCF for another year or two.... CUCLA is cose enough to his wife's family to justify moving, has good recruiting grounds, iconic (although awful) stadium, and is in a familiar conference to him.
  23. A large part of creating the playoff was definitely to eliminate questions when there happened to be 3 undefeated teams, G5 teams included. It should definitely be about finding out who's better, and not trying too create a story. But how can you say that the undefeated G5 team isn't better than a P5 team that lost at home to isu with a back up qb? Or an undefeated Wisc team gets left out in favor of a 2nd SEC team just because Wisc played in the weakest division of all P5 teams. On paper, in the grand scheme of things, a 1 or 2 loss ou or osu team is the "better" team with more nfl talent, and so on... But on paper NU should be better than ucf this year too, and we definitely aren't. Recruiting rankings and strength of schedule have nothing to do with proving who the better team is when comparing head-to-head. There is no reason to eliminate a deserving team for those "reasons" (presumptions).
  24. The entire playoff idea was carried by teams like Boise and Utah going undefeated, and people wanting to see them lined up against the "best" the BCS schools could offer... Now it slanted against the schools that are most deserving of this system. A two loss osu or psu is not more deserving than an undefeated ucf. They might be better teams, but they aren't more deserving.
