  1. Yeah they are, just ask Jim Harbaugh re one Dalvin Cook. I don't think any RB on our roster is currently anywhere near Ameer. So, it's been a big drop off. Tre looks like he has some upside, but he's gonna have to keep working his butt off for anybody to be scared of him.
  2. Agree with all this. Bama signed 28: 6 5*, 18 4*(!), and 4 3*. Like I keep saying, "2 Americas".
  3. I respectfully disagree with your last point, we are closing no gaps with the likes of USC and the other top 5-7 teams--usual suspects--that are amassing/hoarding the best talent like it's 2 Americas--which it is, in real life and CFB.NU is at about a 10+ year holding pattern in recruiting, ave ranking being ~25th, and low and behold, that's usually where we start and finish each season, on average. USC. for e.g., '17 class as per 247 sports gathered 2 five stars, 12 four stars, and 10 3 stars to finish 4th and they are back finishing top 5 or 10 consistently, in recruiting. Well, if you check out the top 6 teams on 247, for e.g., the wealth of talent is off the charts. Bama and tOSU each quite possibly have more 5 star guys than we have 4 star guys. I don't see NU closing many gaps. Our '17 RB is a 3 star kid from Bellevue, NE, for god's sake!!! 2 Americas. Success doesn't happen over night dude. Year 3 is typically when you see results if the rebuild is paying off. I'm sure you've seen this point mentioned multiple times. And who cares where our RB is from? Some would be ecstatic that he's a NE kid! And it won't matter if we land a top RB in the 2018 class. Helton just finished year 2 @ Troy. Has a few early losses, then rolls of 9 straight, beating WA, CO, PSU, UCLA, etc., finishes #3 in the country. Goes into next year @ #3. Evidently, they don't need patience @ USC. Personally, I'm plenty patient as long as we keep it in a minimal range of redpectability. Waited 25 yrs for OZ to get the big one, so I can wait another 25, which, the way things are going, is prlly what it will take. But in today's football milieau, Riley's gotta start making hay here pretty quick or he's out the door. Just the way it is. As to Bradly, I don't care where he comes from, he could come from Mars. I care who he is: he was a 2* guy with 1 other offer from S Dak St. They bumped him a * when Nebby came calling. He's our only RB recruit. If fans aren't concerned about that they just aren't paying att'n.
  4. I think if POB was beating out Fyfe, you don't redshirt him and he's the b/u. You always go w whoever will give the best chance to win should the circumstances arise. Maybe he gives us 1-2 more Ws when TA went down. In the end, all this says is that the so-called #11 pro style recruit in the country can't beat out Ryker Fyfe, so good for Fyfe, he does have some game to him. Tommy didn't hurt his hamstring until the 10th game of the season.... It would have been asinine to pull POB's redshirt at that point, even if he was the better QB That's not what I'm saying. At the beginning of the season, if POB is the clear #2, then he's the b/u. You don't know if and when the starter may go down, but if that happens, you want the best #2 to take over. So, it appears that POB did not beat out Fyfe.I looked at it this way, TA was the 3 yr starter and no way was POB playing unless TA got hurt in camp or 1st game. Fyfe seems to be a players player so you know he had fans on the team so coaches say he's #2 knowing they don't want to burn POBS redshirt. I think they were just trying to keep moral of the team as high as possible. I also think they were trying to temper the expectations of fans when it came to POB. They would always give short answers when asked about him. They were trying to slow down the hype train. Not very many scenarios where POB plays over TA or Fyfe just because that's the way the coaches wanted it. Also you have Lee who they brought in and seem to love. If you play POB and he does ok then what do you do with Lee?.. they avoided a QB contiversy before it started. Now they have all spring and fall to find out who the starter is. It will be Lee just based on how the coaches respond when asked about himAll good speculation. Politics. TL, BTW, had to sit out a year. Fyfe beat out POB, prlly just as plain as that. Kudos to Fyfe, and I'm still worried re POB. But I'll get over it.
  5. Hey listen up the big _____ski. Quite frankly, everything you just said was wrong. Quite accurately, the article proved that NFL coaches are terrible at this. So, according to you, they must all be fired immediately. But you failed to point that out to us. Analytics saves time, eh? LOL. Analytics is the ONLY WAY to determine the most advantageous decision. Something less than a few percent of the US population could do this in their own unassisted brains. Even then, they would be using analytics (in their head). You can't, and you talk again and again like you can. You seem to like to teach us so I have a question. Who is the most likely person to be unaware when anti-wisdom is being spoken? Plz pardon the delay, just got back from a love triste w Khatia Buniatishvili and Cecile de la France... Now, where were we, oh yes, analytics, here's question for you, Mr. Smart Guy. I couldn't help but notice the term "analytics" has the word "anal" in it. Do you, from a moral standpoint, think that is right? Your queries, though, I wll now proceed to answer in reverse order, ahem: 3) John Q American. Scratch that, the Pope, any Pope. No, scratch that, it's gotta be that Ape the popular minority put in the oval office. I'll stick w that. 2)Human brain or brains. I'm sorry to say that, first of all, your apparent full submission to the Analytic God fills me with pathos AND...boredom. BUT, unfortunately, Sir, you grossly, GROSSLY, underestimate the human brain, which happens to be the most amazingly and sophisticatedly evolved "thing" in the known universe. To claim, as you did, that analytics "decision making" supercedes the immense processing power of the human brain in patently FALSE and I defer you to any competant neuroscientist and/or linguist to find out more about that on your own. They are still just scratching trhe surface of understanding the amazing workings and potential of the human brain. It pains me to think that you may devalue your own brain like all the technocratic nerds apparently want us to do. I'll follow up with: Mozart. And that would be "checkmate". Ok, I'll add Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Michelangelo, Shakespeare, Spinoza, I will take their brains over your analytics "brain" everyday of the week and twice n Sunday. What brain(s) invented analytics? That's right, human brains and not the other way around and you can remember that when you're genuflecting to your Robot God too. Brady. Checkmate again. What was the analytics prediction % of a N.E. Victory in the 4th qtr when they were down 28-9 or wtever. So much for analytics. Brady has a human brain. 1) Yes, in the context to which I referred yes, fire them all--except Belichick, of course. Thankfully, somehow, someway coaches and players were somehow able to conduct the ame of football--just as well--before the human brain invented analytics. Analytics is to football as a "sampled trumpet" is to Miles Davis. Thanks for playing...

  8. Who's gonna be their QBV QBV? Is that a typo or are you interested in IEEE 802.1 performance of their LAN?? ========================= Ourlads has QB Bart Houston at the top of the Badger depth chart. "ourlads", what kinda word is dat? So, is Houston the guy that beat us last year or is a new? I can nvr remember the names of all the damn QBVs they got up their.Hornibrook will be their starter.Gotta give them the nod then, we'll be breaking in a rookie.Of course. If its Lee, he'll be a rookie in a sense that its a new offense but he'll have more D1 snaps than AH.Lee's #s @ Tulane are very mediocre and that's being kind. Went 3-9 both yrs. I was hoping POB would be "who we thought he is" and come in guns ablazing, but he couldn't beat out even Fyfe, so I'm not holding my breath over either of those guys. Who's AH, is he that JUCO or something? Wouldn't go that far. I do think its easy to look at stats at a player on a team that normally wouldn't beat Nebraska on its worse day. Also POB was done a solid not being thrown to the wolves. AH = Alex Hornibrook Lee's #s don't impress and he won 6 ttl games in 2 yrs--at Tulane. Why's he @ Tulane in the 1st place? So, I'm not holding my breath there. As to POB, well he was supposed to be one of those elite 11 blue chipper types like say Rosen or something, so much hype and the guy can't beat out Fyfe? Do you think Rosen wouldn't beat out Fyfe? Well, so why do they hype these guys if its still gonna take em til there Jr. Year to be good? He's either elite or he isn't and he if can't beat out Fyfe for the b/u job, minimally he's not elite. Well, don't say a guy's elite when he's not and if the "guru" QB coaches Riles and Langs can't tell a guys not elite, then they aren't good at their jobs and they are way over paid. Am tired of getting these so-called elite or high ranked QBs and they get here and more or less suck or can't play for some reason--am thinking Stanton, Darlington, and Starling went baseball on us. H Beck, alotta busts over the years. Sounds like more of a "you" problem elevating POB to "the savior". Comparing him to Rosen isn't fair at all. Rosen was the #1 pro qb his year. POB was the #11 pro qb, and only 3 of the top 10 started a game last year (#1 Patterson, #2 Eason, and #10 Bentley. Interestingly, Eason was on the only team to have a winning record). So I think that we can chill a bit on hating him, unless you believe the other 7 qbs ahead of him have no future as well. I personally never hyped POB. I READ on message boards months and months of hype re POB, "he's gonna beat out Tommy", "he's gonna save us", etc. One would think that the #11 pro QB recruit in the country could, minimally, beat out Ryker Fyfe, a guy who only started 3(4?) games in his career, only because the other guy was injured. One would think POB, according to the hype, could beat out Tanner Lee, who prlly has nvr been hyped. I'm trying to be "nice", here. Just the way I see it.
  9. Quite frankly, if a college or pro coach can't figure out with his own, unassisted brain, when and when not to go for 2, then he shouldn't be coaching and they shouldn't be paying them millions of bucks. I can see where analytics would help save time by analyizing large amts of info, like the other team's/players tendencies, etc, so as they may not have to speand as much time looking @ film, etc. Complains about using too small a sample size. Says that one specific decision should determine if a coach keeps his job or not. Seems legit. OMG, you "got me" again, in the 3rd person, in a dry, smug kinda way, again! Yer 2/2, 100%. You must have one of those analytic brain chips or just born really really smart. I should just give up. that's so cool! IN BRADY WE TRUST!!!
  10. Yes I touched on this and while I'm more for the aggressive use of the 2 pointer I do think this is the most valid argument against it. The analytics and numbers say over time you will score more points, and most likely that would be the outcome. The only problem is going 0 for 2 in 1 game and 2 for 2 in the next. The consistency isn't the same as a kick and it can cost you in games which are controlled by a small sample size.yup yup yup, exactly!
  11. Now that's what I been trying to say at least a couple of times. Thanks for saying it better.

  13. When I was younger I always went for it on fourth down in NCAA Football. My mistake was thinking I had my friends fooled (note, I always went for it and DID NOT have them fooled) and I also tried things like fake punts on 4th and 10 which are pretty much never converted. It's easier than that. Back in the day, they used to make this plastic mat, say, 3' x 6', and it was dyed green w white lines like a football field, and you had these plastic FB players about 8" tall on wheels and whenever it was 4th down you went for it of course because all ya had to do was bang your guy as hard as possible into the other guy's plastic men and blow em up and they'd fly all over the living room and you get the 1st. Now that's what I call "football", right there!
  14. I agree. But this is Nebraska, this isn't fing Kstate, and he's making big bucks and he was hyped as being the "QB guy" and "can coach em up, get more outta less" type guy. So, he's had 2 yrs to get somebody ready to come in and takeover after TA and keep the train running on the tracks. He's got all the freaking resources in the world. So, if he can't pull that off then he shouldn't be the coach @ NE and he isn't doing what he was hired to do. I don't feel sorry for coaches. Those mofos are getting RICH at this sh#t, Banker got RICH, so they gotta deliver. I'm glad he's a nice guy, but it doesn't matter if he's a nice guy, he's paid to produce @ NE. If he goes anything worse than 8-4 this year, I don't see any big reason for keeping him around especially if there's a hot prospect out there.

  17. Could happen, he's gone 3-9 before, plenty of times, and from what I can tell, it really doesn't bother him--he's still getting paid. This is like a golden parachute gig for him and his wife. Deal is, he's not a "sexy" name, and the more we don't win anything, the less "sexy" that name becomes. And the converse is true. But I just don't see where any "juice" comes from guy--he's more "vanilla" than DQ. Good news is, if he does get shown the door, the easy solution is to, for real this time, open up the check book and get the "sexiest" best up and comer we can get, and it can turn around fast. Woulda been nice to get Fuente or Herman, seriously, they have a long bright future ahead of them. I dunno, maybe Riles can get something done here, but seems like we're in a holding pattern. If neither POB or Gebbia works out, I think we're screwed.
  18. I like Adidas and Puma. Can't stand Nike's swoosh and Phil Knight and am meh about UA. I think they waste way to much fing $ on all those alt unis. One per is enough, and I prefer the more classy retro ones. All of our alt designs have been more or less crap. I like OU's retro/alt uni, is real hip, and I like the retro classy variations ND does. And dagnabbit here's another thing, all those wacked out shoe designs, just stop it, nobody except your tap dance teacher cares if you got shoes the color of Dorothy's magic slippers, and it looks real bad when your getting your ass whooped in those things--its emburassing. Just get a couple decent, more or less conservative styles, like say, black or white--yeah, with stripes--wtev, mix in some red if uer brasky, but dadgummit don't let me see you on that field lookin like Twinkle Toe Sally! But, Bama, USC, Tree, and PSU have yet to do an alt uni, so that proves you don't have to do it to get players and be a great team. Players like winning above all else.

  21. PSU's the real deal, they should've been in the playoffs. NW should have a clear QB edge over us, so if they played tomorrow I would pick them to win--objectively speaking.

  23. To me, it's all about their defense. It's been elite the last few years. But now that they've lost Aranda and Wilcox back to back (and promoted a position coach to DC)I'm curious to see if there's drop off.Its all about their front 7 to me. Gives them the right to be early favorites. The do lose a sneaky bit of talent on offense. Ramczyk- An all American, Clement, Ogunbowale- Who killed us last year and was the type of back that gave us fits. Do return Fumagalli and Hornibrook(Not really scared of him though.) Yeah, that's the thing. The Badgers lose a ton of talent on offense--pretty much their whole O-line. And on D, which was their strength last year, they have a new coordinator. Okay, sure we have a new DC as well. But for us it's an upgrade. For Wisconsin it's an unknown: First time DC who has exactly one year of position coaching under his belt. One year! Wisconsin beat us by 6 points last October up in Camp Randall. This year it will be different. I think we'll beat them when they come to Lincoln. I'd put NU at the #3 spot in that Power Ranking, with Wisconsin just behind us. /jmho I think they only lose the LT Ramczyk, but many of their big runs came on his side. As was mentioned earlier, they lose their starting OLBs, both all conference picks. They do return a majority of their front 7 though. They lose a four year starter/all conference pick at CB and starting FS. Yes Nebraska had them on the ropes in their house and lost largely on Ogunbowale's ability 2nd/3rd and long situations imho. Also the QB completing a handful of more passes would've helped. Imho of course. Wasn't TA's comp. like 32% @ Wiscy last year?. Yeah, if he could pass we win that game.13 of 31 man...with 2 picks.omg, turrible, yeah, I remember that.
