  1. It's only the third year for this tournament and it hasn't ever had any traditional powers so ESPN, FS1, etc. don't want it.
  2. Agreed, but Hoiberg would rather have the 6'9" athlete than the 7' guy who can't get up & down the floor.
  3. Were you at the game or just reading about it? If you saw the game you would know that last nights rebounding had nothing to do with size. It was all hustle. Southern went for every loose ball including rebounds. Nebraska was very lackadaisical about rebounding and going after loose balls. You never said they shouldn't move? You said we needed a player like UC Riverside's 7'1" player. He was big and slow. Seven footers who can run are few and far between and they aren't coming to Nebraska. They are going to traditional powers like Duke, UNC, Kentucky, etc.
  4. I think Ouedraogo, Cross & Walker all fit that bill. Cross probably a little less than the other two. Ouedraogo & Cross just need some time working with the training staff.
  5. So you think that having a 7'1" glacier is what the Huskers need? I'd rather have a 6'9" athlete. You know - someone who can run, jump & shoot from outside 5 feet. It's not 1985 is right, the game is played at a higher tempo with shooters spreading the floor. Seven footers who can't move or shoot are disappearing in the game.
  6. With most "analysts" they are both. Sometimes they are the color guy sitting on the sideline with the play by play announcer & sometimes they will be in the studio analyzing what happened. They used to be separate gigs, but now networks want to get more for their money.
  7. Not sure if Hoiberg trusts the team to go fast against a set defense.
  8. Kavas is a HUGE liability on the defensive end. I'd be curious to his +/- for the game. I guarantee it's way negative.
  9. Nearly had a triple double in his first G League game -10 points, 10 rebounds, 9 turnovers.
  10. It's not that he hates recruiting, he hates having to deal the the recruit's "Posse".
  11. Other than Yvan, none of their mechanics look too bad. They just aren't consistent with them - the release point isn't the same every time, elbow sometimes pops out instead of staying under the ball. Those are things that can be fixed with repetition.
  12. Former Husker Jeriah Horne led Tulsa with 22 points today. I know there's a thread for him somewhere, but I'm too lazy to find it several pages deep.
  13. USA Today article on Husker Hoops/Fred Hoiberg. Nothing new in it, but nice to see the team getting national coverage. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2019/11/01/hoiberg-sees-untapped-potential-at-long-suffering-nebraska/40528577/
  14. CBS Sports has rated the NC schedules of all 87 "major" conference schools (plus Gonzaga, Davidson, VCU, Utah St & St Mary's). Only 13 of the 92 teams have an easier NC schedule than Nebraska. https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/ranking-the-best-and-worst-nonconference-schedules-in-college-basketball-for-2019-20/
  15. ESPN finally put out their B1G predictions. NU 13th. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/27967266/big-ten-2019-20-predictions-michigan-state-back-hype
  16. I think he'd look much better in Husker red than the Carolina Blue Creighton is stealing.
  17. Those OU teams used 6' 9" Wayman Tisdale as their center so tall isn't as important as athletic. I'm not saying we have anybody on the team as good as Tisdale, but that is more the type of player Hoiberg is looking for. He doesn't need a 7' 2" Rich King type of player.
  18. Watched the show last night. It was nice to get to know the players a bit off the court + put some faces/numbers with the names. Made me wish I had enough money to vacation in Italy.
  19. Like someone said earlier in the thread, it's more of a closed scrimmage. Both teams are allowed to report certain pieces of information like stats & score. It allows the teams to play against someone of similar talent and they can stop the "game" at points to work on specific things (zone offense/defense, press, etc.) in a less structured environment than an actual game.
  20. Sounds about right to me. My best guess is that they go 17-14.
  21. CBS Sports has the Huskers at 115. https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/ranking-every-college-basketball-team-from-no-1-to-353-for-2019-20-and-an-interesting-fact-on-every-team/
  22. The home non conference schedule averages 270 with South Dakota State being the best team at 208. The entire NC schedule assuming best case scenarios in the Cayman Islands classic averages 190. They won't be getting into the NCAA if they are a bubble team with that kind of schedule.
