I thought HH looked an order of magnitude better too. Feel a lot better if he is #2 and has to come in. On his play at 1:08 on the film he looks right for his first read and doesn't like what he saw there, second read over the middle there was no receiver (can be see from an end zone shot) and finally on his third read he finds Fidone crossing from the left for a big gain. 99% sure that wouldn't have happened last year.

At about 27 seconds DR rolling to his right throws a perfect 20 yard strike to Lloyd sprinting to the sideline. Haven't seen that kind of play whole lot lately and hope it is a sign of things to come.

He's going to be hosting Dawson Merritt, 2025 ️ LB from Overland Park on his OV in June. By all reports Merritt over the top loved his unofficial visit this the weekend and their families hit it off well too. He'd be huge pickup and has offers from just about all the blue chip P5 teams.

Unfortunate to be seeing football highlights this time of year.  I was hoping to hear about the gains…with a few platitudes about hard work thrown in.

Watch the PC's with the coaches and players or read the PC coverage articles for a more serious take on spring practice.

These "Hilites" are seem to be a tongue-in-cheek, almost satirical production of the athletic dept more for entertainment value that providing any insights.

We absolutely should be, but I honestly expect like we'll be sitting at 5-2 and the season will be a real test of the teams ability to push through the "here we go again" collapse. Winning 1 (or more) out of UCLA, @USC, Wisconsin, and @Iowa is totally possible, but the added pressure of bowl eligibility is significant. Getting ahead of ourselves obviously, but getting to 6-1 or 7-0 seems too easy for us.

I agree. 5-2 (or 4-3) is where I expect them to be after the first 7. Then it will be a huge challenge to get 1 or 2 wins in the last 5 games looking at the schedule. UCLA and then getting another will be difficult. Just like last year it will be nip and tuck getting bowl eligible.

He's not that good.  He lost 8 games last year.  We would have beaten them with a mediocre quarterback.

Hmm. He ranked #8 in completion %, #12 in passing yards & #10 passing yrds per game our of 130 FBS teams last year. He was 31 for 42 (74%) for 393 yrds with no int. agains NU. Pretty good numbers for somebody that's "not that good". Wish we would have had a QB that was "not that good" last year.

It's a waste of money to keep renovating that dinosaur. Time for forward thinking and plan a new stadium in a couple of years. Make going to the games a wonderful experience instead of having to pee in troughs or porta potties.

I agree. Throw a few more porta-potties under or outside the south stand bleachers and call it a day. Hate to see them put well over a half billion dollars into a facility that is so hopelessly outdated.

This was an excellent post.  For those of you that didn't read because of paragraphs, give it another shot!  I added some spots for "brain breaks" ;)

    Thanks for sharing @Madcows

Thanks for doing this since was one of the people who couldn't plow my way through the original unformatted version.

And it was a great read Madcows.

  9. Being a Husker fan over the last 25 years has been tough. Honestly, I'm about worn down emotionally. Between the divisiveness, incompetent leadership, incompetent hires, and self serving administration has been tough to take. And now just when it seemed the ship was being righted and several of the programs were on the rise we get kicked squarely in the nuts one more time. I guess that should have been expected though. I'm not sure how much more I can take.

  10. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if they canned both series, especially Tenn. Things aren't like they used to be in the Big 8 where you had OU and maybe one other team that was decent every year. Now we're in a league with OSU, Mich,  Penn St, Wis, Iowa, Oregon, Wash, USC & UCLA guaranteeing you'll get several games every year agains top 20 teams and probably more than one top 5 or 10 team.

  11. Have to believe we are at the point we actually need to prove it on the field before most people are going to be picking us anything. After seven years of convincingly winning the offseason then proceeding lay an egg the following season a lot of people are leery of DONU. And with good reason IMHO.

The 2028 schedule will be Rhule's 6th season, really liking our schedule.. "If" the Huskers can get back to championship caliber play, what ever that is, (ie.. running power, pro-set, read option etc...) 2028 could & should be a year of anticipation around these parts.

2028 is long ways away and lot will change between now and then. At least I hope it does since 9 of those 12 teams you like so much are better programs than NU at this point in time judging them by their records over the last several years.

  13. I think the next logical step in further reducing the the number of plays clogging up the games between commercials will be to make incomplete passes only a temporary time-out. After an incompletion the clock will only stop until the ball is set and ready for play at which point the clock will resume. Just like it is when a player runs OOB now or how it used to be after a first down. Mark my words, that day is coming and probably sooner rather than later. Less football and more commercials is the recipe for success.
