Dave Aranda went 2-7 to Big 12 Champs in 2 years. grimes took a little used RB, converted to LB and brought back to RB this year and he turned him into the Big 12's leading rusher. Ground game went from 99 yards per game to 200+. That's coaching and development. That's what we are missing.
I see these takes all the time lately, and its funny to me. We have Luke Freakin’ Reimer as one of our starting LBs and he’s transformed into one of the best in the Big 10. Tell me that’s not player development.

You ready for this…?… I finally have a connection and something useful to say.
My friend’s nephew is a second stringer at LSU on the offense. To keep their anonymity I won’t say name or position. The kid says the entire offense is pretty upset to hear Mickey is leaving. They are very excited about Kelly, but when they heard Mickey was leaving, the kid texted his dad and said quite a few team members are upset at the news. He just texted me again and said - “They all think he’s a great coach. You guys got a good one back at NU.”

It is going to be strange watching Adrian Martinez in a different uniform.
One thing I keep wondering is if he’ll start somewhere else? Learning a new playbook while recovering from surgery is a lot to ask of a player. Plus, there are better QBs out there, and he has lost his starting role before.

Hopefully they have it all sorted and are just waiting to announce. Personally I would rather get word out to recruits about 3 days ago but oh well.
Who’s to say they haven’t told recruits already? Maybe everything is planned and they are announcing at a time that works for the coaches? Maybe frost started with OC and got their buy-in to bring in MJ. I bet we learn a lot more on Sunday and Monday.

I would like CSU to be a decent program, but they have been a dumpster fire in recent years. The one exception is that coach who went to Florida after a couple of good seasons at CSU. CSU also has a really nice on-campus stadium, so it would be nice to actually go see some decent football being played there.
Agreed 100%. Jim McElwain is the coach that went to Florida. He’s at Central Michigan now. I’d love to see them beat the pants off CU for 10-15 straight seasons for a change.

I like this team and they started so sloppy I think they’ll only get better.
As far as the foul discrepancy in this game, it may have been their strategy to keep feeding that big guy knowing that our guys were hacking like Frankensteins.
The last play in reg looked like a good no call to me. I hate when the ref decides the game with a tickytack foul call. Avoid that by shooting the ball into the hole rather than trying to fly at the hoop like Spider-Man.
I think they’ll improve as a unit as well. It’s going to be fun to see them at the end of the year. Defense looked much improved for 3/4 of regulation last night.
I’ll strongly disagree with the no call though. That gets called 99.9% of the time. Clearly a foul.

@Mavric I stand corrected on Verge. He's definitely taken the coaching from Fred and improved from the beginning of the season.
Oof… I think I’m still on the other side of the fence on Verge. I think we win that game yesterday if Webster played in his spot during the OTs. Verge is too selfish of a player. I think we’ll continue to see that he’s a liability late in games. I really hope I eat crow at the end of the season, but I’ve played with too many guys like him in the past. Old habits are hard to break.

He’s a great person. I admire his attitude and his dedication to the program.
I’m very excited to see who starts at QB next year. This should be fun.

Page count increase post. This post is as useful as 95% of the bickering, complaining, and utter “jackassery” on this board right now. 5% of the bickering is warranted… including the rants about refs during the Michigan game. We saw what you did last October, B1G. We saw what you did.
Also, head on over to the Nebrasketball game thread from last night if you want something to bicker about. 15-43 is a stat you’ll never forget.
Bickering post about bickering completed. Let’s get this b!^@h to 70+ pages.

15 to 43 field goal attempts is the craziest stat I’ve ever seen in a single ball game. That includes that awful game six Lakers vs. Kings game. That game was 25 to 40 and felt like highway robbery.

When a guy keeps driving and scoring at the hoop, you have to foul him hard. Make him earn it. Garbage defense

Which is it?? Is it that great coaches suck so bad that they missed on a great talent? Or is it that he was developed because great coaches all agreed he wasn’t talented?
