We went last month.  One of the most moving things I've ever experienced.

Touching the actual concrete post with the barbed wire made me weep.  I'm getting teary eyed right now just remembering the moment.

Glad you liked it.  If you are a history buff, check out the Liberty Memorial if you haven’t already.  Tons of cool WW1 stuff.

I've never bought a new car in my life because I've never understood how it's financially worth it.  But, if we had to buy right now, I would strongly consider it.

I’ve only bought new for my wife since we got married but we keep them for 6-7 years and have passed them down or sold for good value.   Financially it may not be better, depends on how much the used one costs in repairs, but getting what I want and piece of mind the first 4-5 years is what I pay for

I had an old mini-van with 140K miles on it last spring.  I was trying to have it last as long as it could, but it finally got to the point I couldn't bring myself to put more $ into repairs on it.  I had known that used car prices had been going up, but I didn't realize fully how low the inventory of new cars was.   My wife and I went to a dealer and they had basically no new cars on the lot, and their used cars were way overpriced.  Adding another layer of complexity to our decision was the fact my son will be turning 16 in April 2022, so he would need a reliable car.

Last June, what I eventually did was buy an affordable used car for me to drive for about a year, and then I will give that to my son when he turns 16.  That would also allow me to do some additional research and looking at a potential new vehicle for me to buy.  Last week, while I was off from work, I stopped at a couple car dealerships to check out what they have and take test drives of vehicles I was interested in.  One dealer said that I would be able to work with them to build and get a more customized vehicle built and delivered in 3 months.  Another dealer said that they don't do custom orders, and that they just work with interested people on vehicles that come to their dealership.  It's just weird how things are right now.  If you are able to wait until things are more stable, that's probably your best bet.

If someone is in the market for a car, much better value to buy new at this point than used.  Which is upside down world but the one we live in at this point

I started following this yesterday on twitter to help them reach their goal and I'm always fascinated by WWII history.

It has hit me harder than I thought it would.

Anyone who denies this happened is a very very sick person.

You should make your way to Union Station in KC soon. They have a traveling exhibit now

I think he was joking but this is also the line we see with the amazing Husker walk-on from a small town that has more heart and will run through a brick wall...but sadly can't run over a LBer from Purdue on 4th and 1.

Keep that privileged trap of yours shut.   You have TWO masters degrees when many people in this world don’t have any.   You are so privileged to be able to spell words out cognitively on this website while others don’t even know about Huskerboard!!!!   How dare you exert your privilege so boldly and without regret.

He says he was provided a foundation,

I’m quite sure hundreds of people around him were provided that same foundation and decided not to utilize that opportunity or foundation in the same way he did.  It’s a conscious choice to take was used given or not take what is given.  In this case what was given is advice which is what is being called the foundation

, ie, they haven't been given the same beneficial place to start from that he has

I don’t believe he has actually said this.   What I read is that he believes the others around didn’t take up those same opportunities presented that he did.  Not that he was the only one to receive them which is what you are trying to imply

His entire narrative rests on the idea that he is specially equipped to see the truth and to resist the temptations of woke culture because of the advantages given to him by his upbringing.

Privilege seems like a dictionary definition perfect word to use for that.

Another person might say he is utilizing the opportunities in front of him to better himself.  The same opportunity others around him have, yet chose a different path.

    that’s not privilege.

Funny, you'd be saying the exact opposite if the same kid wrote an op-ed with the opinions reversed.

Doubtful.  I’m sure some HS kid has written an oped somewhere that says what you are claiming to be the opposite opinion.

Show me the example of where I disparaged that kid like what has happened here to this one.  Otherwise you are once again( and again and again and again) just plain making stuff up.

BTW, next time you can @ me or quote reply me.   It how it’s supposed to work on a forum like this.

You should dismiss anybody in the entire world who's whole point rests on how they alone can see clearly when all of their peers and everyone they compare themselves to are misguided fools. Especially when they then fail to see the irony in ascribing their unique wisdom that all the rest of the dummies don't have to having humility.

Well, that kid never said or implied “he alone” can see clearly when no one can.
It seems he does say he has learned life lessons his elders, from his Religion, and from being humble.  Seems like pretty good traits for us normal folk.

Watching Utah/OSU if we could recruit receivers and QB's like these two teams, I am all N to not even use a RB.  Guys are putting on a clinic.

Kinda cool to see QB’s lead scoring drives at the end of games.  Must be nice to have on a team. Heck even a walk on freshmen who’s never thrown a pass did

They can't exactly edit a tweet assuming they don't agree with everything in it. I'm not going to assume a poster does since it's not their words directly. Maybe they do, maybe they don't.

    Interesting how that works.

Spot on. DeSantis proved his lack of political independence when he hitched his horse, wagon, future to the trump train.  The GOP should be on a suicide watch - it is a slow burn but it is coming if smarter voices don't take control. If the Dems had their act together had broaden their tent to reach out to more moderate and even center right GOPers, it would speed up the burn.  The GOP will become a minor party if it continues to move alt right or it can kick out those alt righters and try to regain a more center right to moderate position. But it will take leadership willing to work at it over a period of a few election cycles.

Here is the approval ratings for DeSantis.  Far from minority party status in the state of Florida.   A state with a mixed population.
