  1. The three schools mentioned in the Austin paper are TCU, Houston and Louisville. The first thing I thought of was Oklahoma too but that's apparently not on his list. He will loose a year but I think will still have three years of elligibility because he could redshirt next year at his new school. Someone correct me if I am wrong about that.
  2. Hi....I'm Pony Boy and I'm on drugs.....how 'bout you
  3. Koetter was killing that program fast. Not only did Nebraska benefit but so did Texas State getting several players last year on transfers including the starting punter for AZ State last season who is a monster kicker. It seemed good players were leaving in droves from that place and finally someone woke up and figured out it was the coach that was chasing people off. The reason given was he couldn't win against the elite of the Pac 10 but considering who the elite is in that conference that's a pretty tall order.
  4. Apparently it is Chizik although there is nothing in the local paper or on TV down here about it that I have seen. I have been trolling websites all morning and can't find anything "official" on it but that's the talk down here.
  5. Here I am in all my glory. No I am not dressed for Halloween.
  6. Let's see, a maroon tux with white tie and a red wedding dress. How romantic. Good luck and congratulations.
  7. I posted this in another thread but the latest bowl projections from CBS put Texas in the Alamo. http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/bowls/predictions
  8. Baylor would never drop down. Besides there are worse programs in I-A in Texas alone not to mention elsewhere, SMU, Rice, North Texas, UTEP most years just to name a few. With that said UTEP, SMU and Rice have made good progress but still lack the fan support that even Baylor has. Back to the point since the formation of the conference Nebraska, Colorado and K-State for a few years dominated the North, Texas and Oklahoma and A&M for one year dominated the South, those are the power teams of the conference and they shouldn't go anywhere. The conference gets stronger because of the big money programs that have a big fan base. You could never find any school that could replace Texas and make the conference stronger, just like you could never find a replacement for Nebraska that would make the conference stronger. Yes there are other high profile big money programs, but they wouldn't leave the conferences they are in and I don't think Notre Dame will ever join a conference because they have no incentive and they are the only team out there that could improve any conference.
  9. Here are the latest CBS bowl projections out tonight. It puts Nebraska in the Cotton after predicting an Oklahoma win next week and put's Texas in San Antonio, the Aggies in San Diego in the Holiday Bowl, Texas Tech in the Sun Bowl, OK State in the Independence Bowl, K-State in the Insight Bowl and of course OU in the Fiesta. Now here is my projection........Nebraska in the Fiesta. http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/bowls/predictions
  10. TCU's program has certainly improved and they would be more competitve than Baylor but I wonder about the long term viability of the TCU program and whether they could compete financially with the rest of the Big 12 schools. Baylor has that problem right now competing financially and I think the conference might be trading one low funded program for another that in the long term would have trouble. We will see just how far TCU has come as a program in the second game of the year next season when they play Texas. This year, although they won, they weren't that impressive at Baylor in the opening game of the season and while they have had good records in the past couple of years and beat Oklahoma last season they play weaker competition than they would in the Big 12 week in and week out.
  11. If it was the refs that led to the 23 point win maybe they will work the championship game next week so Nebraska will win again.
  12. The Texas people are so depressed they think they are going to the Alamo Bowl and are griping about how far they would have fallen after back to back Rose Bowl's having to go to the Alamo would be a real come down. It just breaks my heart........NOT
  13. Being a traditionalist I would like to see OU/Nebraska but whatever it takes for Texas to miss out on a BCS bowl makes me happy. If OU wins today, which they are right now, then Texas is out, or if Nebraska whips them next week they are out, either way I would be happy. I think either team would be tough. Texas is an injured animal and they would be playing for thier lives and they still have a lot of talent even without Mc Coy and OU didn't make a BCS bowl last year so they would play hard too to show that their program is back after a couple of sub-par years for them. With that said the Huskers will be playing hard to make thier first BCS bowl in a long time too.
  14. I am a radio reporter and was sent to the scene shortly after we got the news. It was indeed a very tragic day, one of those stories I hate to cover.
  15. I think it says something when the poll on the front page has the Boulder Police as sCUm's biggest rival.
  16. Since Texas has a must win game to ensure a trip to the championship game and the only hope it has to get into a BCS bowl I am sure Mc Coy will play. The Aggies find ways of loosing but Texas can't take a chance on this game. They have already lost all hope of defending their title, loosing all hope of a BCS bowl would be bad news for them.
  17. What an idiot. Said he couldn't find the score. Ever heard of ESPN.com or Yahoo sports. Duhhhhhhhhhh
  18. Well thank you guys very much. I had a wonderful birthday with my Husker girlfriend. I may be another year older but I am not any wiser, I just ache more.
  19. East/West wouldn't make much sense since as was mentioned earlier everything stacks up North to South, the northern most school being Iowa State and the southern most being Texas and everyone else inbetween. The only restructure would be doing what Stoops said and eliminate the divisions and do like the Big 10 does and have your rivalry games every year and then rotate everyone else. So that would preserve Texas/Texas A&M, reinstate Nebraska/Oklahoma every year, keep Nebraska/Colorado as a yearly game, keep Texas Tech/Texas and Texas Tech/A&M and Baylor and Tech, A&M and Texas and maybe Missouri and K State and Nebraska, Kansas and K-State and so on and then rotate everyone else around. Then have the top two teams overall play in the championship game if there is to be one to make more dollars which is where things would differ from the Big 10. I doubt any of that will happen but that's the only realignment I would see that would keep rivalries intact, keep high profile games on TV and keep the cash flowing in.
  20. I am torn on this one for a number of different reasons. Coach Fran needs to go at A&M. He has been overrated for years, ever since he was a coach at Texas State, but if the Aggies beat Texas he will keep his job for another year, but on the other hand I would really like to see Nebraska/OU in the championship game because as I have said before I miss not seeing that game every year. That would also mean Texas not having any hope of going to a BCS Bowl and that would make me happy too, so I guess Go Aggies Beat Texas is in order here and give Coach Fran another year to screw up.
  21. If you look at matchups I would think the Holiday Bowl would love an SC/Nebraska rematch so I wouldn't discount that as a possibility. I think a Nebraska/Arkansas matchup in the Cotton Bowl would also be attractive although not as attractive as an A&M/Arkansas because of the old Southwest Conference tie in since both used to be in that conference. Oklahoma/SC in the Holiday is also very attractive because of the National Championship rematch from a few years ago. The least attractive of those mentioned is Nebraska/Iowa in the Alamo Bowl. I would go because it's in my backyard and I loved going last year but Iowa doesn't do much for me and I don't think they travel that well. I was amazed at how poorly Michican traveled last year compared to Nebraska. There was a whole lot of Red mixed in with the Blue on their side of the stadium last year, and the side I was on was solid Red with no Blue at all mixed in.
  22. Actually they have an off weeekend and then Texas on the Friday after Thanksgiving so I doubt they will be looking ahead.
  23. All of the news down here is about Texas needs only two people to loose and they will be back in it, thinking they will sweep the rest of the season and the Big 12 championship game. All anyone can talk about is Florida and Louisville loosing just one game and they are in. Let's hope the Aggies or Huskers can beat these guys so that doesn't happen. I sure don't see K-State beating them this week. There is also a lot of talk about a rematch with Ohio State and how much better the Texas team is now than the one that lost in week 2 to Ohio State. While that is true I really don't want to see that rematch.
