  1. I haven't come across a nationally syndicated writer picking Nebraska to win. Yet, most of those that are making the Oklahoma win prediction are calling the game as a close one. So, do the Huskers have a chance of winning? With all the close predictions I'd have to say yes. But, if the Huskers lose the Cotton Bowl has more name recognition then the Fiesta Bowl anyway. If I was asked what bowl I'd rather have the Huskers play in (Without considering national rankings.) I'd pick the Cotton Bowl over the Fiesta anyday. Nebraska can beat the Sooners. And, the Husker fans have made the championship pretty much a home game. So, all the writers that are looking at the numbers probably missed that one. And, with that one I don't see this game going to the Sooners. Anybody, find a Nebraska win prediction; or, a prediction which takes into mind that the game will be filled with Husker fans?
  2. I prefer investing in clothing and other supplies to keep the players warm and healthy. Many people work in the cold year round. Domes perpetuate the attitude that doing things in cold weather has to be avoided. It should remain an obstacle to overcome.
  3. Updated bowl projection: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writ...1127/index.html
  4. Well, I'll be rooting for them next week. Troy could be bad. Here's to winning the Troy game. Good night.
  5. OK, Did the coaches, Play to avoid losing by too much? Play to avoid SoCals from not liking them? Play to avoid the discovery that they don't have the skills for the program? Play to avoid injuries? ....... Any other possible opinions would be nice.
  6. I was very proud of the offensive lines play. The plays that could've been called to negate the rush and get passing yards seemed to never be called though. Nawwww, this sucked. Not calling for heads. Calling for opinions and ideas. Something seems very wrong with those coaches.
  7. It's our coaches jobs to do their best to put our players in a position they can win games. In my opinion the coaches have failed in that goal. Sweeping it under the rug will not help. But, to go for heads without knowing more about why they sucked is also premature. There is a problem and the organization needs to look at it. USC could have won by more then the score was. I am very proud of the efforts the players put forth. The defense, on whole, should be applauded. But, there are some serious problems that really should be talked about! I'd like to see them win.
  8. Callahan used conservative plays to try to keep the tempo of the game down to keep us in it. It was a little disappointing that not more of an attempt was made to establish a passing game. It was also disappointing that we kept stacking and allowing their defense to group against the run. It was disappointing that the Defense had not found a few ways to neutralize their "professional class receiverS". The players did very good and I can lay no blame on them. Their seems to be a disconnect within the coaching staff. (Like one or two people handling too many of the responibilities without enough communication and cooperation.) We really need more execution of tactical organization. Something really stinks there. Sorry.
  9. USC next year! LegalSteroids.com
  10. In the last three years USC has been number one as far as recruiting has gone. The recent trends for the top 30 or so schools is for a replacement national championship team. A team that no longer has to rely on building the players into good ones. The idea is to get the best at high school and doing the least to keep them that way. So, coaching, training, and execution have all become secondary to the best recruiting strategies. Now what does a 17 year old want in a college? What attracts a 17 year old? Are those the same things that we want a young mind to aspire to achieving? Recent trends have also served to make teams at the very top more successful at recruiting every year. Meaning less and less competition throughout the system. Can a team like Kansas compete against a team like USC. A team that has spent so much on recruiting that it has become the largest part of their success. NCAA rules say that you can't pay a college athlete for the income that is derived from the program. Yet, if a school keeps on pumping more and more into recruiting isn't that the same thing as paying the athletes? I really think new rules need to be considered for a maximum possible benefit from recruiting. Emphasis in a sholastic sport really should be on coaching, training, and execution. The recruiting program that USC has been carrying out has tainted the whole NCAA system. Football is about the game and not the greed of television markets. Thanks.
  11. Hey, he just added to that overconfidence factor.
  12. Stopping the run with as many players in pass coverage as possible is the best way I can see to win this game. Pass pressure would be nice. But, those recievers are good enough that a desperate lob from the QB would probably be caught. The best way to keep that from happening is keeping more people on the receivers then they ever thought possible. That 2-5 would be wicked if it could also stop the run. We need some monster plays from that defensive line.
  13. Anyone else notice that Troy went down to Florida State and was winning in the 4th. Eventually, they lost by 7 to the number 9 team in the country. I don't think Troy is going to be a pushover. If we win the USC game I hope we don't spend the next week celebrating and get our a$$@$ kicked by Troy when they come to visit. Anyone else worried about that?
  14. I just hope that USC doesn't push them to play when they aren't 100%. I say if it takes recuperation until after the game Saturday for them to be healthy, then let them!
