  1. I'm setting up a watch site in Logan Utah and looking for husked nation to join in, email me asap

  2. Husker Nation, Currently Utahns for Nebraska has one watch site in Salt Lake City at Legends. I noticed there are a good number of Husker fans in Cache Valley and southern idaho. In anticipation of the upcoming 2010 Football season, I want to open up a new watch site in Logan that can accommodate fans in the local area. I need you to respond to me so I can see whether there is enough interest to warrant an additional watch site. Please respond via email to knyoni@gmail.com. Go Big Red.....
  3. My fellow Nebraskans, I just relocated to Logan recently and am part of Utahns for Nebraska. Currently we have one official watch site at Legend's sports bar in Salt Lake City, a 90 mile drive from Cache Valley. We are interested in establishing a watch site here in Logan where local husker fans can congregate to root for the huskers. I have an idea about a bar that I would like to approach but in order to do that, I need to get a head count of people who would be interested in coming out to a local bar to watch a game. We need a large number, 30 people minimum in order to make it worthwhile for the bar to reserve the whole bar area for us. My goal is to get this going beginning the Kansas game. We want to create a community of Utahns for Nebraska in Cache Valley. Please respond to me ASAP with your name, email address and phone number so I can start collecting names and add names to our email list. You can do so securely by sending it to me, Kim at knyoni@gmail.com. Let's get r done ladies and gents....Let's show Cache Valley what the Husker Nation is all about.

  5. Big Country, sorry I didn't catch this post till late, we did watch the VA Tech game at two locations in St Louis where we normally go. We normally watch the games at two sites, J. McGraughs, which is in Clayton and The Highlander Pub & Grille, which is located off HWY 64/40 right across from Forest Park by the Hampton Inn. In case you are interested, come join us this saturday for the Baylor game. The Highlander should be easier for you to get to coming from Illinois. Even though the game is over the air, its a great time to meet and network with fellow Huskers. Any questions, send me an email at knyoni@gmail.com. Game time: 11:30 am Bars Open: 11:00 am TV coverage: VERSUS The Highlander Pub & Grille 5656 Oakland Ave St Louis, MO 63110 314.644.4646
  6. OK Husker Nation, For anyone who will be in St louis this coming weekend, here is the drill. We normally watch the games at two sites, J. McGraughs, which is in Clayton and The Highlander Pub & Grille, which is located off HWY 64/40 right across from Forest Park by the Hampton Inn. J. McGraugh's sits about 30 or so and the Highlander can fit close to 200 people comfortably. We normally have a good crowd that goes to both places. Both sites will be showing the game this coming weekend and so please pass the word out to anyone visiting the area to come join us and watch the game. Even though the game is over the air, its a great time to meet and network with fellow Huskers. Any questions, send me an email at knyoni@gmail.com. Game time: 11:30 am Bars Open: 11:00 am TV coverage: VERSUS Watch Sites: J. McGraugh's Bar & Grill (in Clayton) 8405 Maryland Ave Saint Louis, MO 63105 314.863.8555 The Highlander Pub & Grille 5656 Oakland Ave St Louis, MO 63110 314.644.4646
  7. Fellow Huskers, Our regular watch site in St Louis, J.McGraugh's in Clayton will not be showing the game this saturday due to an event. I have secured The Highlander Pub & Grill as a watch site. The Highlander is located by the Hampton Inn and Forest Park Community College, right by HWY 64. We will be in the bar area that has 3 giant big screens. The game will begin at 6:00pm so please arrive early to get a good seat. This is a PPV game that will cost $400. Each person would need to chip in $5-$10 depending on the turnout in order to cover the cost of the PPV, which I will put on my credit card. Please pass this along to anyone you know who will be in the St Louis area. The address is below and any questions, email me at mewhodi@yahoo.com. I will be collecting $$$ at the door: The Highlander Pub & Grille 5656 Oakland Avenue St Louis, MO Phone (314)-644-4646
  8. Fellow Huskers, As a new Husker in St Louis, I was appalled that our watch site was too small to accommodate all Huskers wanting to watch the game last week. Like many of you, last week was the first time I missed a game in 10 years. That was unacceptable for our standards. Great news!! In addition to the regular watch site, I have secured a word commitment from a local sports bar is St louis that can accommodate a lot of people. The PPV cost for the bar is $400. I need to know how many Huskers are willing to show up at 11:30am on saturday to watch the game. The bar has agreed to buy the game so long as we can pay for the cost. I need to know by 5pm Thursday Sept 4, how many people will be coming. Please send me an email with your name and phone number so I can verify so that we can secure an additional spot to watch the game and not have any more Huskers miss the game because we didn't have space. Send the email to mewhodi@yahoo.com ASAP and once I receive at least 20 people then I will follow up with directions and info on the bar. People please pass this on. We really need to get r done in St Louis.

  10. Does anyone have tickets to the Western Michigan game that they want to get rid of. I am in St Louis, MO so if anyone is close I'll greatly appreciate it.
  11. last i heard he was on his way to a wedding. Agreed they are DBs
  12. Fellow Huskers, I usually listen to Jason peter's show online from ESPN 1480 in Lincoln. Lately his co-host Chris Schimdt hasn't been heard. Did he get canned? Anyone?
  13. All I can say it, we are still by far the best fans in the world. I think one had to go to the Huskerboard road trip at SC in 2006 to see all these people who don't know each other treat each other like brothers and sisters in Husker Nation. We treat all fans like family. What bothers me is the extent of negativity that we have been seeing and hearing. It is unacceptable to boo the team and call players names. This is a time when you need to show your Husker pride and stand behind the team. The players are human and they feed off public sentiments. Do I think the team should be criticized? Absolutely. There is complete lack of effort being shown. Should Coach Callahan be fired? No. That will set us back for eternity. People need to understand, because of the increase in financing and changes in NCAA rules, there is a lot more parity out there now than in the past. Instead of dwelling on mailing this season in and how the coaches should be fired, let's stay behind the team. I can recall how Husker fans wanted to fire Bob Devaney and Coach O. Think about what a terrible decision that would be. Patience is a virtue. Think about it, what if South Florida or Rutgers had decided to fire their coaches five years into their tenure? They would still be a doormat
  14. My take on the future of Husker Football is bleak. We are going to continue being a 9 win team, with a lot of NFl prospects, as if that mattered. Now USC is a great team, however our defenses lack of showing in that game and in the four years Beau Bridges has been coach is no excuse. As a Raider fan in California, I can tell you, our teams performance is typical of Beau Bridges led teams. I was not a fan of this guy getting hired and am not one today. For us to get blown like that was simply inexcusable. I still believe a pro set offense a la Florida that uses the option and a strong running game is key. I believe we need a Nebraskan to run the program, and quite honestly Frank Solich in a Bobby Bowden role, with Bo Pellini as Associate HC and DC would have been our best option. It is one thing to get outplayed and another to basically freeze. All the facilities in the world cannot win you games, ask Oregon. I would rather go back to the days when we won with hard working young men. And for those of us who think people will think highly of Nebraska because we now have world class facilities, think again. We are still Nebraska, only a few of us care about it because we are from there. But regardless of the facilities, I know lots of recruits who come out here to the bay and go to Cal even though Cal has the worst facilities in D1, Why? because its close to San Francisco, its beautiful and not in the middle of nowhere. I love NU and I want all the best athletes to go there. But we don't need to try to keep up with the Oregons et al we need to be us and thats what got us into prominence.
  15. My fellow huskers in the Bay area, I am trying to find out who is all going to Final Final sports bar in San Francisco to watch games this season. I am a regular at Jack's in Fremont, but I am going to be a regular at Final Final since I live in the city. If anybody on the board is planning on heading there this season, let me know and we'll all have a blast. The bartender told me they will be showing all husker games except for pay per view games. For PPV games I recommend going to Jack's brew and pub in Fremont as they always buy PPV for Husker fans and we simply pay them back. For information on the Bay area Huskers, go to www.bayareahuskers.org
  16. My fellow Huskers, Yours truly is in the process of relocating to Reno. I find out for sure next week. I would like to set up a local alumni chapter and establish a regular watch site for all Husker games. Is there anyone out there who live in the Reno/Sparks area? Any local chapter? If so please send me a note. Go Big Red OUt
  17. All I can say is when someone has worked for you for 20 years, you gotta give them a reason why they are fired. secondly to fire someone that close to Lucky's mishap is questionable because he will forever be linked to that, even though anyone with an ounce of understanding knows that a trainer does not prescribe drugs. This is another example of Smiley Jones aka Stevie P running the AD without integrity. I work for a large Div 1 public institution and I can tell you, if the AD or coach did that to a long tenured employee, they would be fired and sued because its against university guidelines. But in this case Beau Bridges and Smiley can do whatever they please since Harvey P is holding court over NU
  18. Does anyone know why Doak Ostergaard the Head FB trainer for the Huskers was let go? According to the journal star, it had nothing to do with Lucky's hospitalization but something to do with Billy C not wanting him to be part of the program anymore.
  19. Or when things don't go our way. Had we won we probably wouldn't be discussing the officiating for the game As I stated in my summation, I'm not saying that was the reason we lost. I'm just sick and tired of seeing good FB games marred by poor officiating. i also stated that not only we were screwed but also OU on B Jackson's fumble and when they played Oregon.
  20. Looking at the game on saturday...It's safe to say that Zach was rattled and out of synch.... The entire right side of the O line needs to be evaluated before Auburn, otherwise we're in deep trouble. As a senior he should know better and not float the ball that way. I thought we were losing that game but not by 21 points. The officiating crew made major blunders mostly costing us but a few for OU: 1. OU's O linemen were holding almost every play - NO CALL 2. Safety when Patrick was slammed in the end zone - NO CALL 3. Nunn's catch on sideline deep in OU zone called an incomplete - NO CALL 4. B Jackson's fumble called an incomplete - NO CALL Had we have gotten that safety most likely our offense would have put us in a field goal situation where we would have gone up to a 12-14 deficit. OU still played smarter and so they should have won in a close game. This is the second time this season (OU v Oregon being first) where a great game has been ruined by some idiotic refs. Does anyone know what conference the refs where from? The NCAA should allow coaches to challenge such horendous calls. Bottom line is: we got beat by a better prepared team and both OU and NU got a bad officiating crew. OUT
  21. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? 8 years 2) What/who led you to The Nation? Moved to Lincoln 3) Where are you from originally? East Africa then Lincoln, Neb 4) Where do you live now? Oakland Bay Area 5) Favorite Husker memory? 2001, Mike Stuntz throwing a reverse pass Erick Crouch beating OU in the last minutes at TO Field 6) Worst Husker memory? Road trip to the inbreeding ground AKA Bill Schneider family field to watch Darren Sproles destroy the Huskers in 2002 (7-7 season) 7) Number of home games attended? 52 8) Number of away games attended? 3 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? Baseball team gear, Letterman jacket 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) Section 8 row AA 11) Favorite all time player? Smiley Jones has made the entire program competitive, whereas Billy B only focused on FB,VB,BB. My vote for Billy B. He's more personable and less of a salesman. 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Herbie embodies the hardworking midwestern farmer. old School Swedish looking Herbie all the way 15) Favorite Husker play? Eric Crouch scrambling from the end zone to break off a 96 yard TD run at Mizzou 16) Favorite game-day beverage? Ice Cold Coors Light 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) Web browsing
  22. Oregon is a joke. I live in Pac man country and I can tell you, most of Cal's coaches worked at oregon and recruited the same players including the QB. Cal knew exactly which plays were going to be called and a lil secret: Oregon's QB cant throw on the run, flush him out of the pocket and he's one dimensional. Cal and SC are the only teams out here that play good D and great offense. The rest ar just laughable as they couldn't beat an average SEC team
  23. I agree with your summation to a point. The fact still is that we're just as good as programs like Cal who have a similar record to us but are ranked higher because of WINNING IN STYLE and not just wins.
  24. I personally thought we controlled the game but were too conservative. Billy C was calling the game like he's back in the NFL where killing the clock counts more than style points. Point is, smoking a weak opponent like KSU = higher ranking. Our neocon play got us a #17 ranking, behind Smurf turf and Rutgers!!!!! This is ridiculous. Why in the world are we willing to throw the ball all over the place and have a great running game against Nicholls State and not against any team that matters? I think as fans we should be concerned because based on what I've seen at SC and against KSU, we're in some serious trouble against Mizzou and the Horns, not because we don't have depth but because we are not giving our athlete a chance to compete.
