  1. It's only been a twp days, so there's not much to go on. Pads start Friday. Sounds good...I'm really interested to see how our CB's will play this year.
  2. I listened to the interview. It wasn't as bad as built up as after reading some posts I thought it was going to be horrendous. He seems just like a pretty mellow kid in the midst of his recruiting process with not much to say and new to all of this. Yes, he didn't exude excitement but I didn't get the impression he would be doing cartwheels if he was to get offered by OU or Texas...I don't get impression he is scheming. In the end, I think the coaches will have this one under control. Seems to me the coaches must know they have a very raw talent here with huge upside...if we get him, great...get him in the program and work with him to achieve his fullest potential...if not, it will not be end of the world as we have other D-Lineman being recruited that will take his spot. The kid has never been to a game...get him here for a game and I think his excitement will go way up!
  3. Was reading the posts above. Man, I really hope Bowman can be back sooner than expected. Anyone know how Grix, A. Jones, and Murillo are looking?
  4. This news sucks to hear. I sort of liked what Teafatiller was doing as an underdog type, walk-on, and back-up player. Seemed like he could contribute and would only get better this year. I hope McNeill can show us something this year at TE...we need production from this position badly.
  5. Word is Blaine Gabbert is trying to get this kid to be N! Latest from Husker Journal below. We have work to do to get him N! We need both TE Jordan and his teammate CB Anthony! AUGUST 4, 2007. PREP STAR DION JORDAN, tight end from Chandler, Arizona, has offer from Washington State, Michigan, Colorado, Nebraska, Boise State, Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona, Utah, Illinois. “I plan on taking a visit to Oregon.” Said Jordan, “I like the offense (spread) they run. Coach Bellotti is a cool guy. Oregon’s offense allows the tight end to be in open space. I went to Oregon for junior days and really liked it. They say it rains there quite a bit, but I would get use to it.” “There is a lot of things I like about Nebraska.” He said, “The have an aggressive offense, and I like how they use the tight end. They have a lot of history. Coach Bush is my recruiter. I plan on making up there (Nebraska) for the USC game.” “I went to Arizona Junior Day’s and I met the whole coaching staff.” Said Jordan, “I like coach Erickson a lot. I got to see one of their practices.” “I like Colorado a lot.” He said, “I’ve been to Colorado but not Boulder. Colorado said I could get on the field early. Coach Cabral is my recruiter.”
  6. From Husker Journal: AUGUST 1, 2007. PREP STAR MARC ANTHONY, Cornerback, from Chandler, Arizona, has offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska, Vanderbilt, Ilinois, Colorado, Michigan, California, Washington, Washington State. "Arizona State wants me real bad." said Anthony, "After this year, they don't have any corners and I get to play as a true freshman. Right now I want to leave state, but I might not." "Vanderbilt just offered me two weeks ago." he said, "They said there academic programs are real good. I like Vanderbilt because it's in the SEC, its very competitive. Vanderbilt will loose most of their corners after this season. I plan on visiting them later." "I went to Michigan this summer, it was pretty nice. The weather was great. The campus was fun, a big college town (Ann Arbor), and the Big House was humongous. The Michigan coaches text message me everyday and I get mail from them every other day. Michigan coaches said if I look like a good player, I could play early." "Nebraska (Coach Bush) text messages me a lot and I get lots of mail from him." said Anthony, "I met coach Bush at the school last spring. I like Nebraska a lot, I don't know when I will visit them yet." "Cailifornia is recruiting me the hardest." he said, "California coaches told me I'm on the top of the board as a corner. It's close to home, a two or three hour drive. My cousin plays at Cal now (Cameron Jordon). I talk to him about California, but he has not pushed me to go there." Anthony went on to say if doesn't gave a favorite school, but right now California, Nebraska, Michigan, Vanderbilt and Oregon State are lined up to get visits.

He has scheduled October visits to Ohio State and LSU with indications to schedule a visit to Nebraska (date not confirmed yet as far as I can tell). We have also offered his teammates Simi Kuli (DE) and Tavares Pressley (RB). Note: There is a thread regarding Thompson in the general recruiting forum called "NU to get official visit from 5 star DT". Mods, please merge if you like...but wanted to get Thompson up on the formal board here.

  10. Hmmm...hard to know about Meechicken's tactics but I recall Herron's dad wanted him to go to Michigan and was the driving force on that decision. With Demens, I hope his mom is able to visit with him so we can get her blessing on her son being N! C'mon Kenny...the Blackshirts await you!!!
  11. What S or DB do we have rated higher? Or is it a LB potentially moving into that position (Brandon Magee)? I'm not surprised by your comments BigWillie as I have seen this coming. I agree with you...if the coaches want him and like what he can offer, then let's secure him. If not, let's make sure we get our best targets who are still out there...to me that would mean D'Anton Lynn, Victor Johnson, Jarrell Barbour, and potentially ATH recruits Adrian Bushell and Kye Staley. Others (who are probably lesser targets than Leslie) might be Stephen Hicks, Kenji Jackson, ATH DeVonte Christopher, C.J. Cox and the Juco Maurice Harvey. Our recruit Keelan Johnson is also a darkhorse safety prospect and Jon Levorson may fit that bill as well. But, I think we still need to pull a major saftey recruit into this class. I think we are in good position having him take his visit with us at end of Sept. after he visits GA Tech. We should know by then where we stand and where he stands in the process. I know it must be frustrating for him but at same time coaches have to recruit others and cannot stop their recruitment of other talented prospects at his same position....sounds like he is interpreting that as not being shown "the love" and perhaps GA Tech is able to capitalize on that saying he is their highest/only target...anyone know who is on GA Tech's board at safety?
  12. I still think we are the ones to beat and he will be N. I wonder if Michigan blew some smoke given that they knew he almost already committed to us and that Jonas Gray had committed to us. I hope he visits with his mom and he is still slated to visit with Jonas for the USC game. That is going to be great!
  13. Welcome, Jonas!!! Go BIG RED!
  14. Latest linky: http://kansasstate.scout.com/2/664002.html Top 3 are us, K-State, and Mizzou...looking to visit us this month.
  15. Linky here: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ri...tory_recruiting Scroll to the bottom and the last two are Nebraska commits DT Parish and CB Whitmore. Note: The date on this is July 25th so it does not yet show Parish as a commit to us.
  16. Latest linky: http://nebraska.scout.com/a.z?s=204&p=2&c=663536 He is giving GA Tech the slight edge now. I love this recruiting class but we need to lock N some DB's/secondary. We are N on some good ones...just want to see it happen now!
  17. It is a likely twofer. Scout shows that both TE Jordan and CB Anthony will be here for visits during the USC game weekend. Scout is reporting TE Jordan will also visit Oregon at end of September. Scout also shows CB Anthony to visit Michigan weekend after our visit. I don't see TE Jordan showing a visit to Michigan at this time. Would be great to get these two guys...quality at some positions of need in this class! Let get them N! Work that AZ connection again!
  18. I figured he would be N...welcome, Darius!
  19. I live in SoCal so have to deal with this :asshat every once and awhile (he writes for the Times which has become a horrible rag of a paper nowadays and is on one of the local sports radio shows in the mornings with longtime L.A. sports anchor Fred Roggin and his daughter Tracy Simers). Don't listen to it much but Fred is the main host and the Simers add their takes and color. I hear him when he pops in on other shows on the same station as he comes in once and awhile to basically stir everybody up. His whole schtick is to get a reaction...he does it to the teams out here also...(i.e. the Clippers are a regular punching bag, the Lakers have recently been playing horribly, UCLA is up and down, if the Angels or Dodgers are in a slump he will rag them, etc.). Funny thing is I was at the USC v. NU game last year and the Coliseum is an absolute dump of a venue...Memorial Stadium puts it to shame! Talk about not living in modern times...go to the Coliseum and you are back in pre-1950's football stadiums! It is no wonder the NFL will never come back to L.A. to play at the Coliseum...there is always a group pushing the renovation of the Coliseum for the NFL...might as well terror it down (OK leave the Olympic torch as a historical landmark)...but get rid of the rest! The one thing about Simers is that he appears to be an equal opportinity :asshat. So if we beat the Trojans, I would very well expect him to skewer USC as he does with all other teams. GBR
  20. Looks like Tennessee was the other school to make his final 7. Let's just get Demens N and our LB class is going to be sick even without Major or A. Brown.
  21. Has committed to LSU. Good luck to him. OK, now let's lock N Demens!
  22. Latest linky...sounds like he still wants to visit us: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ri...tory_recruiting
  23. Has committed to Oklahoma State.
  24. Here's a nice linky on Will: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ri...tory_recruiting He's stoked about being a Husker, playing for Coach Coz and becoming a Blackshirt, competing for a national title, likes our academics, facilities, tradition...and he is working on getting top recruits to come here! You gotta love this kid!
  25. Linky: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ri...tory_recruiting Has us ahead of Ole Miss. Thinks others will pick up interest when his SAT scores are in.
