  1. Cy didn't want to mention this in an earlier thread but he cut me before the try out. Oh well. "364 more days till the 2009 Hockey Season". "I've gotta toughen up"
  2. I have to agree with Danimal. KU will be a better team next year despite their losses. Crawford (Juco RB) is simply a beast, and should be MORE productive than McAnderson was. They'll have a great one two punch with him and Jake Sharp out of the backfield. The defense will be even better than last year despite losing Talib and MClinton. Mclinton wasn't 100% for the final 6 games of the year, so I doubt that will be much of a factor with the other 9 coming back. Talib's loss will hurt, but not nearly as much as some think. Everyone else is back from a very deep and instinct smart secondary. The schedule is WAY more difficult. There is no doubt about that. If KU can get off to a hot start and go 6-0 before the game in Norman, then I think that will give them the momentum to finish 10-2. The Texas and Texas Tech games are in Lawrence. KU also hosts KSU and CU. Unless there is a long string of key injuries, I just don't see ANY team coming into Lawrence and winning this year. The two trap games are at Lincoln and at ISU. I disagree with an earlier post that says all of the pressure is on KU when they come to Lincoln. I completely disagree. KU has NOTHING to lose this year since everyone is predicting them to finish 8-4. If there ever was a year for KU to beat Nebraska in Lincoln then it's this year. This is their best shot in 40 years. Only time will tell how many injuries have hit these two teams before they meet. KU plays South Florida, OU, CU, and I believe Texas Tech before they even play Nebraska on Nov. 8th. All tough match ups that could leave the team banged up. Of course I'm picking Kansas to win the game by looking at it on paper, but the game will be decided on the field. I can't wait.
  3. I said the entire year last year that Kansas didn't impress me. They had a VERY weak schedule. Also buddy, tell me of ONE game where Kansas's defense held a GOOD offense to a minimum. I can't think of one. If Kansas had this years schedule last year then they would have NOT gotten to a BCS game. BTW, It's VA Techs defense that kept them in the running last year. Thier offense was about as good as Nebraska's defense. Obviously you missed half the season last year, which in turn makes it pointless to argue with you. If Kansas comes out this year and pulls an 11 win season out then hey maybe I'll give them more credit but as of right now, I dont see anything more than a 8-9 win season. Just like Nebraska. Wait for it... Wait for it...... Unreal. I could really care less what you think about KU's season last year. But you have to be realistic. KU has a solid defense, not mediocre, solid. They shut down A&M's offense. But seriously, they don't have to completely shut offense's down when there offense averages 44 points a game. And V-Tech did have a good defense, but KU still managed to score 24, and they could of scored again at the end, but Mangino has class and downed it. Keep telling yourself that KU was just lucky last year. That will give our seniors even more to play for. They will not lose in Lawrence this year. Book it.
  4. No way Kansas makes the Top 10, Top 25 maybe, but they lost some of the coaching staff, and I think people will be gunning for them this year, so they are not going to have it as easy as last year. I don't even think they finish in the Top 15. Missouri could be for real this year....I expect them to give everyone they play some trouble....they will be in the Top 10 for sure...hopefully a couple of spots behind us. I agree with the Kansas comments. Kansas has a lot tougher schedule this year and as I have said time and time again if Kansas had a tougher schedule last year they would not have even been in contention for a BCS game. They have a mediocre defense and offense. Yes they beat VA Tech, Big deal. It doesnt take much of a defense to beat VATechs offense. As far as us, I see 8-9 wins this season although 8 seems more plausible. I just don't wanna see us breaking any negative records this year. This pretty much sums up everyones thinking. Once KU beats a team everyone says "Well, they just weren't any good to begin with". Let me remind you that Virginia Tech was #3 in the BCS when KU beat then. Everyone had V-Tech killing KU. KU's offense deserves some credit guys. They're good. And to say the KU defense is just mediocre is ridiculous! Get off your mom's computer and go back to your room. The adults are having a conversation.
  5. We lost some of our coaching staff too... But I agree that top 10 will be unlikely for Kansas. Just because sustained success at that level is unlikely. I see KU finishing anywhere from 12-22. They'll stay in the top 25, especially with a good record against that tough schedule they have. A 9 win season would be looked at as a success with that schedule. But I like KU at home. I just don't see anyone coming to Lawrence and winning next year.
  6. I don't even think they finish in the Top 15. Missouri could be for real this year....I expect them to give everyone they play some trouble....they will be in the Top 10 for sure...hopefully a couple of spots behind us. Just because KU lost a few coaches doesn't mean they won't be good. They do return 9 of 11 on defense...plus a host of others who saw significant time. They return 7 starters on offense, with more talent coming in. It helps having Reesing back (3500 yd passer, 12-1 as a starter) and Desmond Briscoe, Dexton Fileds (who always has a big game against Nebraska), and Kerry Meir at receiver. KU's schedule does become tougher, but with that said, this is not the KU teams from the late 90's to early 2000's. They do get Texas and Texas Tech in Lawrence. 10-2 is a possibility for this squad, but 9-3 is more likely. Coach mangino is a great coach, and Offensive Coordinator Ed Warriner has competely resurected this offense!! I see the same explosive offense as they had last year.
  7. I think May is spot on on his prediction. How is 6-6 not realistic for a team that finished 5-7 a year ago? Seems pretty darn realistic to me!!! LOL
  8. Cody Glenn Moved To Linebacker ... Forgotten about in the running game as last year went on, 230-pound senior RB Cody Glenn was moved to linebacker right away this off-season and it seems to have worked out. With several big replacements needed in a linebacking corps that got worse and worse, Glenn hasn't looked too lost, and has even been one of the team's most productive defenders at times. While he likely has too far to go to be an opening day starter, he's expected to quickly become OK, I'll go ahead and stop here. But Husker fans, if Cody Glenn is even at times your best defender, the same Cody Glenn that has been at running back the last 3 years, then forget about any thoughts of a successful season. Yikes!!!
  9. Nebraska will not contend for the North next year. Anyone posting that is a delusional fan with blinders on. NU is two years away from anything. KU and MU will slug it out for the North and the rest will fall like this: CU NU ISU KSU
  10. Rock Chalk! The streak in Lincoln ends in 2008! http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=795270
  11. KU will go 10-2 with losses to OU and MU. No way Texas and Texas Tech beats KU in Lawrence. Won't happen! Rock Chalk! Orange Bowl Champs in Football and National Champs in Basketball!!!
  12. fo' shizzle! KU fans are starting to sound like sCUm and Mizzou fans... one winning season and suddenly they are untouchable... cant wait to get those bass terds in Lincoln, we are going to have them... Prison Sex Style. OK, I have to admit I'm a little creeped out by that last comment. What ever floats your boat pal.
  13. I figured you were one of those students who have followed KU basketball all your life, then just recently decided to start watching KU football now that we actually win games. Thanks for proving my theory right.
  14. How do I give KU fans a bad name? I never said we were the greatest program? What are you talking about JHaWk? I've been a member on this board for 2 years now. I always go back and forth with the fans on here. I'm not on here to trash any team. Yes, last year was a shock to some, but I've been following this program since 1994, and one thing I know is college football. You may be in shock, however I'm not. I predicted before the season that KU would go at least 9-3 and win their bowl. They more than exceeded those standards. 10-2 is NOT unrealistc for our team this year. You, may Jayhawk friend, make our friends look bad. I'm sure you're one of MANY KU fans that have just recently jumped on the bandwagon. I can tell because of your pesimistic approach and your wait and see attitude. That's ok. Be that way. With 9 starters back on defense, and 6 on offense, and plenty of talent coming in, I'll stand by my prediction of 10-2. On another note: I was at the KU sports banquet last week and I must say it was very good. It was a great tribute to the senior class. I reallyenjoyed watching this team grow through the years. And another thing: How can you say Mangino is unproven? Are you joking!?! He inherited a Terry Allen program (that many said was beyond repair) and has lead them to 3 bowl games, winning 2 of them. Plus, KU is now the only team in the North that has won a BCS Bowl game. Mangino is hardly unproven. He has worked hard the last 6 years to build this program from the ground up. Pelini on the other hand has been an assistant at LSU (Football power) and has had the creme of the crop talent wise to work with. We'll see how he does at Nebraska. I'll take the wait and see approach with him. I heard the same optimism with Coach calahan. That really worked out swell!!

  16. Oh goody...Kansas found its extension cord and look who's back.... After last season, do stats really mean anything? I mean, you could of said that Michigan will never lose to Appalachian State in The Big House. What stat would ever prove that? Or USC losing to Stanford @ The Colliseum snapping a 35 game home win streak? The Fighting Illini beating the Buckeyes @ The Horseshoe? South Carolina beat Georgia at Sanford Stadium. All Im saying is these "stats" that you speak of didnt help any of those teams. Last year was a crazy season, with next year looking to be even crazier. To summarize it all, stats dont mean anything on the field, its just how bad you want it. EXACTLY MY POINT!!!!!! Last year I predicted that KU would go 9-3 and I was laughed off this same board!!! Guess what? They went 12-1, so I guess I was wrong! I don't care what anyone says...Ku will win at least 10 games next year. 9 players return on defense and 6 on offense. I don't want to here about the schedule either. KU will go 2-1 VS the South Guaranteed. Todd Reesing is 12-1 as a starter. He damn sure won't let this team lose more than 2.
  17. What is wrong with this program? Nebraska is falling off the map fast. This is sad.
  18. Dude...check the thread! I gave you a more complete and well thought out opinion than your mother would give you! A) I explained...in detail...complete with week by week analysis, my opinion of how I thought KU and ISU would fare against their respective opponents in 2008. B) I explained...again in great detail...why, in my opinion, your comparison between Allen and Mangino was inaccurate C) I explained...in detail...why I thought KU's 2007 football season was a fluke and why I thought, again in my opinion, that it would not be duplicated. For every arguement you made, I had an equally objective counter-arguement. For every point, a counter point. Sorry dude but short of me saying "All Hail Mighty Kansas...the greatest football dynasty in the country" (which I am NOT going to do by the way) we're just going to have to agree to disagree and wait till the season starts to sort it out. If KU pulls another great season out of Mangino's butt, I'll be the first one to say "Whoopie for Kansas"...but don't hold your breath cuz it ain't gonna happen. Well, you did make very well thought out counter arguments, except for the glaring omission of how you explain my point that Kansas started as a mediocre program under Allen, went to Awful, and how Mangino has more than reversed that. I agree you broke down 2008, and, as you say, it is only opinion. So I do not think you have answered my point, but I will let it go if you feel you have, as it is belabored enough as it is... So, you will come on here and Post after KU wins 8 games and admit the Jayhawk was right, I will do the same if we win 7 or less? Also, you saying all hail Kansas would be sweet. put that in the post when I win.... I am not going to hate on ISU just because you are hating on the Jayhawks, I would pick them for 6-6 or maybe 7-5 if things go well. You guys have OK talent, but I wouldn't trade my man. You are going to wave bye to us, but even after you won 2 nice games at the end of last year we beat you 45-7 (up from 41-10 the year before, see, improvement). I think some of the beatdowns Kansas laid out this year would make you think we were good, but to each there own. I do not remember sitting in the stands as a kid and watching the Huskers beat us down, as they did most of their opponents and not give them any credit. But it is in Ames this year, so maybe it will be more difficult. If we win, it will be 4 years in a row. That would make our crappy coach 5-2 against you guys, maybe THEN he would be good. Allen was 2-3 against you all, maybe now I see why you like him, he also did not ruin your Big 12 North title chance, hmmm, hmmmm.... (Sorry for that, I would have loved for you guys to win that title, you really do have great fans who stick by the team, but it made my point so I went with it) I pick Nebraska for 7 wins, 8 if things go well. The issue with picking the Huskers is they do have a LOT of talent, and so it is hard to know if they can get more out of these kids, as one would think the talent is there to do something. KU will win 10 games. 10-2 season. There is no question with all of the returning talent at key positions. Yes, the schedule gets tougher, but KU gets Texas and Texas Tech at home. KU hasn't lost at home since 2005. Check the stats rookies! Rock Chalk Jayhawk! P.S- I attended the KU sports ceremony on Saturday. It was great. Mangino and perkins are both class acts. Our University is extremely lucky to have these two running things. Mangino is PHAT my friends. Here's to a 10-2....possibly 11-1 2008 Jayhawk football season! Cheers! P.S- ISU will go 6-6 and get left out of a bowl. NU will go 7-5. Book it kids.
  19. Talent is measured on the field, not by star rankings. KU looked way faster than NU on both sides of the ball. I know there is talent at NU, that's not an argument, but the way that defense just gave up in the 2nd half was pathetic. I believe Bo will change that, but asking Bo to lead this team to a 93 or 10-2 record next year is not realistic. The North is getting alot better each year, and if history is an indicator of anything New coaches in the Big 12 do not have good first years- Since the beginning of the Big 12 only 2 coaches have lead their teams to winning records during their first year. They are: Bob Stoops- 7-5 in 1999 and Ron Prince 7-5 in 2006. The others are all below 500. However I think Bo will get this team to 7-5 with Ganz at the helm and even though you lost several key receivers, I still see Ganz finding targets in your spread attack. The defense will improve, but how much? Speed is needed greatly. Bo will change the mindset, and once he has a full season to recruit "HIS" guys he will be able to make a strong run for the North. 2009 Nebraska will be a threat for the North again. But first things first. Build that attitude and change the mindset. 7-5 and a bowl win is my prediction for this team.
  20. Except for the fact that they get all pissy when you disagree with em.... Yeah Cy, and you've been pleasant to me when I disagree with you. Kettle black much?? Then let's start over and be realistic here shall we? Here's the schedules for 2008 Week One ISU vs South Dakota State - W (1-0) KU vs Florida International - W (1-0) Week Two ISU vs Kent State - W (2-0) KU vs Louisiana Tech - W (2-0) Week Three ISU vs Iowa - W (3-0) Iowa is going to be horrible in 2008...just watch KU vs S Florida - L (2-1) S Florida is great early on...won't fade till midway through the season Week Four ISU vs UNLV - W (4-0) KU vs Sam Houston State - W (3-1) Week Five ISU vs Kansas - Even though it's a home game...KU beats ISU (4-1 for ISU...4-1 for KU) Week Six ISU vs Baylor - W (5-1) KU vs Colorado - W (5-1) It's at KU...so I'm giving you the benefit of a doubt here Week Sever ISU vs Nebraska - L (5-2) This is a Nebraska board after all... KU vs Oklahoma - L (5-2) Week Eight ISU vs Texas A&M - W (6-2) KU vs Texas Tech - L (5-3) Tech has too many weapons next year. Week Nine ISU vs Oklahoma State - W (7-2) KU vs Kansas State - W (6-3) Week Ten ISU vs Colorado - L (7-3) It's in Boulder...we never win in Boulder KU vs Nebraska - L (6-4) Revenge!!! Week Eleven ISU vs Missouri - L (7-4) Missouri looks like 2008's real deal right now KU vs Texas - L (6-5) It's at Texas...they don't lose much in Texas Week Twelve ISU vs Kansas State - W (8-4) They will have collapsed and quit by then KU vs Missouri - L (6-6) And there you have it. ISU has an easy schedule with no top flight teams played back to back and all the really tough games played at home...plus they have an easy start to the season to help their young skill players get some confidence and winning attitude. KU has a killer last part of the schedule with the majority of those games played on the road. Both teams might eek out another win (I'm thinking maybe CU for ISU and Texas Tech for KU) or another defeat but looking at next year's returning teams that's looking like a pretty realistic version of what's going to happen. You can discuss that all you want but please...try to be civil. KU's two losses will come to Oklahoma and possibly Texas. But I like our chances at home against Texas, just like the Huskers like their chances against KU in Lincoln. Cy, the Texas and Texas Tech games are in Lawrence!!! You screwed that up. I see ISU going 6-6. Just being honest.
  21. This may be the most honest/non bias post I've ever read on here. Great take. I really like Bo. I think he brings an energy back to Nebraska that has lacked since "02". To this day I still think firing Solich was a mistake (Fun Fact- He recruited Joe Mortenson, current middle linebacker for KU. Joe was committed to Nebraska right out of High School, then Solich got fired and Calahan withdrew the offer to Joe. He wouldn't return any of Joe's calls, and had an assistant coach call Joe and say "You're just not Nebraska material" DUMB MOVE! There was a huge article in the Lawrence paper last summer over this. I wish I could find that link. I'll keep checking on LJWorld. There has to be something. They always bring it up before we play Nebraska.
  22. I'm glad USF is on our schedule this year. It will be a good challenge going down to South Florida. Big game to get ready for a tough Big 12 schedule. The Bulls have a great QB with Groethe. We beat them 14-7 in "05"......Groethe was a Soph. He'll be ready for payback. I'm looking forward to it.
  23. Except for the fact that they get all pissy when you disagree with em.... Yeah Cy, and you've been pleasant to me when I disagree with you. Kettle black much??
  24. "Nebraska has a basketball team"? "Hmm...that's news to me".- Greg Ostertag 1996
  25. What a pathetic class Cy!! Thanks for the report and good luck in 08!
