  1. the Husker fan knows of what he speaks. There's a little matter of learning the playbook - Ganz knew it inside, outside, backwards and forwards and was called "a coach on the field". He'd seen this playbook for 5 years, and worked his ass off for his chance. Lee is far more gifted physically than Ganz. That's not me knocking Ganz, because I loved that guy, but it is what it is. We've heard Lee has taken a big step forward with the mental aspect now that he appears to be "the man". We shall see if he's really ready soon enough, but yeah, he's got the physical tools to be better than Joey was. I think he was referring to one of my posts where I stated Lee has more talent than Ganz and it is absolutely true. Lee is MUCH MUCH faster than Ganz and has a stronger arm by far than Ganz, rumor has it he has thrown a ball 70 yards. Oh and Lee is 6' 2" tall vs. 6' for Ganz and Lee was a 4 Star recruit. Lee is just a better athlete than Ganz, but Got Carl said it all, Ganz was the better QB for 2008 because he was better prepared. Lee was a RSo. and only had 1 year in the program going into 2008 because he was a JUCO transfer. I love Ganz, but Lee's ceiling is much higher and if the reports we have heard out of Spring Ball and the evidence of the Spring Game is to be believed, Lee has stepped up as a leader of the O and has a firm grasp on the O now. He spent a ton of time with Watson getting ready, hopefully it all pays off this year. JGS I think you need to research a bit before you go flying off the handle with comments like that. Ganz, rumor has it he has thrown a ball 70 yards. I betcha I can throw a football over them there mountains! -Uncle Ricco Oh and Lee is 6' 2" tall vs. 6' for Ganz and Lee was a 4 Star recruit. Another bad example from the caveman. Reesing is 5'8 on a good day, and is one of the top 10 QB's in the nation. Height doesn't mattter much in college my friend. If you followed it as much as you say you would know that. And congratulations on Lee being a 4 star recruit! LOL I wouldn't bet the farm on his star ranking being accurate. Most of the time Rivals is wrong. I can name you 20 guys from KU in the past 5 years that didn't compare to their star ranking. I guess our definition of talent is different. My definition of talent is his overall skill level...that includes his football mentallity, physical ability, field awareness, everything. That defines a kids talent. If youw ant to just go off the fact that he's bigger, stronger and faster, then maybe you need to watch track cause football is not your sport my friend. Do you really believe that if Ganze was back at Nebraska this year you would want Lee as the starter over him?? That's basically what you've said, without even saying it! I know we'll never agree on one single thing......ok, maybe a few minor ones.....but remember this going into 09: Lee will have a learning curve. And if you think he'll come out gunz blazing, you're absolutely crazy. And about your comment on Woods...if you're dogging me about relying on the reports I heard from spring ball and this summer on him, then you're basically bashing yourself about Lee. I'm going off the same darn team reports as you are my friend.Neither Lee or Woods have proven anything in college. But I'd take Woods experience over Lee's any day. Woods has at least played at a high level against good competition for the last two years in juco. And if you think the competition is down in juco, you're crazy! Where do you think all those highly regarded kids from the state of Florida/California and Texas go when they can't score high enough on the ACT??? Answer: JUCO.
  2. Good grief. My heads hurting after reading all this abck and forth bickering over who's better. Husker fans are right, Suh is a DT and they're not supposed to get a whole lot of sacks....it's amazing that Suh got over 5! He is IMO the best DT in college football. On the flipside, Jake Laptad IMO is ready for a break out year and will likely have 10 plus sacks. The kid only started half the season...that's right husker fans, half. Jayhawker is right....he was mostly double teamed while producing 7 sacks. Jake will be a force this year and if Woods is as good as everyone is saying he is then look out. KU's d-line is a strenght, when last year it was easily a weakness. One of the husker fans on here said that Lee was more talented than Ganz!! LOL. That's the funniest thing I've heard! I'm pretty sure Bo would have started Lee over Ganz if he thought he was the more talented player. Bo had NO loyalty to Ganz. He could of discarded him, along witht he other players who quit on the team, but he didn't becasue Ganz was the more talented player. What a comment! LOL. Replacing QB and ALL your skill positions will be the Huskers doom in the pass happy Big 12. Book it.
  3. Losing the LB's deff hurts. But from what i'm reading "paper" is that the new LB's are ready to step up with one being a RB who likes to hit in Quigley (see here). It also looks like we are going to the new thing in the B12 with 2 LB's. The 4-2-5 they call it i believe. The line looks to have more depth and there could be one or two FR playing on the line. He's defintely not afraid of contact, but how are his instincts at getting to the ball? The nickel package you are talking about is quite common when defending against pass happy teams (i.e. the Big 12) However, if a couple of those DB's aren't hybrid safety/LB's a defense will have a hard time stopping the run. This is exactly why football is so cyclical. Defenses stack for the run and the offenses become pass happy, this forces the defense to play the pass and offenses revert back to pounding the ball. You have to find a balance somewhere in your talent, and the good defensive coaches do. From what I'm hearing/reading Quigley has a very solid understanding of LB and is impressing the coaches, I do not know if he will be the day 1 starter or not. Our S is solid in Stuckey and our other DB's should be about average. They looked bad last year cause the damn line couldn't get to the QB and the LB's where injured for most of the season. The line has to be the biggest improvement this year for us on D. Last year wasn't a bad year though as you guys seem to think. If we could have won in Lincoln KU would have been the north rep in the B12CG, quite an accomplishment considering our schedule last year and our O/D line play. Our OL sucked horribly last year and it should be improved this year, even with the loss of the 3 on the line. Reesing is not a stranger to having to run for his life so I am not as worried about the OL. I agree. I watched the KU spring game twice-once in person and once on tv, and Quigley played well at linebacker. However, I think senior Arist Wright will get the nod over him, along with Springer at the other LB spot. I wouldn't be surprised to see KU use Quigley as a blitzing linebacker in the right situations. He has great quickness and speed. He would excell in that role. I think our d-line will improve greatly. I really like this Jake Laptad kid. He reminds me a lot of Jarred Allen. He has a motor that never stops and he recorded like 7 sacks last year. Not bad for a kid that only got to start half the season. I see him having a major impact off the edge. I also like what i've been hearing about this Quinton Woods kid. Apparently KU coaches are saying he's the real deal, and could be the best defensive end we've had since Charlton Keith. I hope it's true! R
  4. I won't give my North prediction at this time. However, I will not be choosing a team that plans to start a Junior QB that has only thrown 2 career passes in college.
  5. I can't stand their cocky QB Tyrod Taylor. After watching him showboating in the Orange Bowl, I want Suh and the boys to plant his face in the turf. Of course Mizzou has some bigtime payback comming their way. Orange Bowl?? Ohhhh...your talking about last year's game. Cause KU had him on his back most of the night in 2007.
  6. They do?? Last time I checked they went 5-7, lost their best receiver and don't have a legitmate starting QB. Where do you see the talent? Have a damn good TE, 2 stud frosh running backs, and loads of young talent. Remember how they raided our cupboard for the 2008 recruiting class and also got the top rb and lb? They lost about 20-25 kids last season prior to the NU-CU game due to injury and still almost beat NU. I am no means stating that the Buffs are awesome, but is a KU victory in Boulder a given? I don't think so. And a Nebraska victory in Boulder is a given? Interesting...... I don't think he ever said that a Nebraska victory in Boulder was a given. Whether CU has a good team or not everytime they've played Nebraska its always been a close game and I think this years game we practically kepts CU in the game (Fake FG that was fumbled into a TD for CU to tie the game going into halftime). I don't think that both KU and NU will lose to CU this year just because of too much talent on both sides. Nebraska's defense will dominate against CU offense but I think it could be a toss up with CU's defense against our Offense. We have Helu, Quentin, Hickman, Williams, McNeil, Smith back offense but losing Huff, Murtha, Slausen, Ganz, Swift, Peterson it'll be quite interesting to see how our offense will do this fall. I agree that the CU game will be tough, throw in the fact that you guys are also rivals just adds to the degree bof difficulty in Boulder. That's why I'm being very cautious about proclaiming a victory over MU in 09. That game at Arrowhead between KU/MU will be no gimme, and history shows that the underdog usually wins.

I think the Huskers may win this one, but I can't say that NU or KU will beat them handily, or at all, with certainty. Never said you said it. Just making sure we're on the same page with the CU game. I've said from the beginning, the CU game(s) in boulder, will be even bigger than the KU/NU games. If one of our teams lose to CU, then bye bye North division. That's a given.

  9. They won't be on their back as much as Reesing this year? Although, for that to be true, you would probably have to take out Witt (I wasn't aware Witt was still battling for playing time at Nebraska after his departure...he must be REAL good), Thomas, Coffman, Hawkins, and Hansen. Keagan may have dropped the ball on the Witt comment, but I would take Meir over any of those guys listed!! Hawkins is garbage, and Coffman hasn't seen the field at KSU. With all do respect, what has Lee proven so far? He's only thrown 2 passes in his entrie career at Nebraska. Meir has at least won games as a QB for KU. Plus, the competition for starter was really close between Meir and Reesing, and we all know Reesing is the best QB in the North hands down. I would feel really comfortable with Meir being my starting QB.
  10. Whether you're a Husker fan or a Jayhawk fan, this is a good article. The Huskers get some love and of course my jayhawks do to. http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2009/jun/03/2...th-i-think-not/ However, I am a little upset that the guy didn't do more research on the Nebraska QB Battle....didn't Witt transfer to like Yale in March?
  11. Hmmmm...I'm going out on a limb here guys, but I think this Suh guy with have a breakout year.
  12. LOL-I love it Michael! Can't wait for you "one sided" report on how Nebraska is going to destroy KU in Lawrence, a place they haven't won in since 2003. Wow-how the years fly by!
  13. Nice touch on the Sig JGS30, I have a question though. The last line in your sig, you mention how losing Talib really hurt your D last year. Why would that change this year? You didn't exactly have world beaters in the Defensive Backfield last year, where do you think playmakers back there will come from? I'm glad you brought that up caveman-at the end of the year-actually after the Husker game (coincidence-I think not) Mangino made the move to take Daymond Paterson and switch him from WR to DB. Then he took Justin Thorton (starter at SS) and moved him to the other corner spot. The overall play really improved, and Daymond may become a star at that position. Our defensive backfield is actually the strenght of our defense with Darrel Stuckey (3 year starter/pre-season 1st team Big 12) back at FS for his senior season. He had two picks and a FF against Missouri, to go along with 9 tackles. He was one of the big reasons we beat MU last year. Our DB's will be fine. We just have to figure out how to get more pressure on the QB. Our DB's can't cover forever-ya know? Interesting JGS30, guess the Fat Man can adjust on the fly. I didn't really get to watch KU in the bowl game, but based on the shootout I watched vs. MU, I am not sure I saw any real improvement. They looked better in the first half, but seemed to have a hard time adjusting with MU in the second half. Was it because they didn't adjust or was it because MU was exposing inferior play? That is the question I think I would be asking if I were rooting for KU. Stuckey is a great player, but he is only one player on a wide field. Actually, a better question to ask is who did MU not score 30 plus points on? They were far from a slouch on offense, and I remember the blackshirts giving up quite a bit of yards to Daniel, so I wouldn't say KU didn't improve. The prove was in the game and KU won it. If we would of played them earlier in the year I doubt we would have won. Our defense played much better the final few games.
  14. Fourth overall at running back?!? Besides OU, I can't name another team that has two proven HBs returning. Who did they rank ahead of us? Please tell me it's not OSU, or even worse CU! OSU has one of the best backs in the conference returning. Correct. OU is 1, OSU 2, Mizzou 3. OSU makes sense, but Mizzou? I guess Washington is a 1,000 yd back... but geez, Roy almost was, and he was a backup! Yeah Mizz is too high. What was KU? I'm curious to know all their position rankings....do you mind sharing them?
  15. Careful JGS30.... Don't go running your mouth again and giving me more signature material! Steele is normally the most accurate from what I've seen. http://preseason.stassen.com/prediction-ac.../2009-10yr.html We should have the best lines in the North by far, and I think that will be the difference. But you never know... Oh Saunders....you know I'm just "rattling the cage". You know I can't resist.
  16. Steele has some balls picking Nebraska to win the north with only 13 starters back. I can't wait to get this season started and prove this dipsh*t wrong. I'm not a steele fan. I doubt he thinks much of KU either. That's alright though. We'll let Nebraska get all the preseason hype, then take it from you in Lawrence! LOL
  17. No, I think it has more to do with the fact that Steele generally has the most accurate preseason rankings. Athlon actually does pretty well too, second only to Steele over the past decade. WOW. Didn't know such a website exists. Thanks for the link.
  18. I really liked that movie. I was really surprised to see the trip to Lincoln. Thought it was pretty cool.
  19. IMHO, the North will never be "dominated" again by 1 single team. Nowadays things go in cycles, team and personel change constantly. That's just the way it is. As impressive as the Huskers run throughout the 90's was, and I guess you could say USC has the same kinda thing going this decade, those are few and far between. The landscape of college football has changed a lot since the 70's and 80s. Schools are trying harder than ever to compete in football, since it clearly pays the bills. I think you'll continue to see some back to back north titles...perhaps even a 3 peat here and there, but the days of a team winning a division 5 years in a row are long gone. Well, accept of course you have USC across your chest. Bastards.
  20. enjoys your preseason feelings, because (god it feels good to say this to someone after i have heard it for 5 years now) if you cant get your first #1 finish this year with NU and MU reloading, then your jayhawks never will. "reloading"? Fro Daddy....I think the word you're looking for is "rebuilding". I just hope your Tigers can manage to score a few TD's at Arrowhead this year. I sure would ahte for the score to get messy! Oh wait, I would love it! LOL i guess we will see if it is reloading or rebuilding once the season starts. i will say that i am sure that both NU and MU are a lot closer to reloading than the jayhawks are... How do you figure that???? Creepy comment.

  22. It appears the fight for second place has already begun between NU and MU fans. LOL- As a Jayhawks, I'll let you girls bicker about who is 2nd, while I enjoys the jayhawks top spot!
  23. Steele! LOL. The only reason people on here like Steele is because he picked Nebraska 2nd last year and what do you know, he got it right (for once) He picked KU to finish 4th in 2007 and we finished 2nd (tieing MU for 1st) He doesn't know it all.
