  1. Damn, KSU really had a chance to win that game, too.
  2. I have to say both teams look fairly mediocre in this game. Just not seeing much from Auburn or KSU that's very impressive.
  3. Wasn't the Husker game a blowout by that time? Or obviously heading in that direction? The Wake game was close with BC... I'm not sure I can blame them for switching coverages outside the Husker homeland.
  4. Trust me, I'm not a KSU fan at all. If they weren't in our conference I'd love to see them go down in flames.
  5. I felt like the one run he made good yardage one was about the only run he had any chance on, and he did something good with it. If memory serves, most of his other runs were bottled up by Nevada with nowhere for him to go.
  6. Uh oh? We want people like KSU to win big games. We want the Big XII to win these big out of conference games.
  7. I want to say that was an End. That was a beautiful pass, I know exactly which one you mean. I just don't know the guy's name.
  8. Yeah, but Nevada isn't a doormat either. To so dominate a team like them is a good sign for the opener. They're nowhere near the competition we'll see in short order, but I have to ask if we'd have looked as good against them in the opener last season? I think the answer is a resounding, "No way."
  9. I can't see any way their QB will be playing against us next week, which is unfortunate for both teams.
  10. Don't forget too that smashing the run is still expected from Nebraska. We're giving very little away (except that we can still run, go figure) by pounding the ball down their throats for most of the game. Just another good thing about that aspect of it.
  11. There is love all over the thread for him! It's just buried in 12 pages of posts. Edit - Not only that, Memorial stadium went nuts for him when he was racking up the touchbacks. He was an instant star today.
  12. I also think he tied the record at 6 today. Something tells me that record isn't going to stand much longer...
  13. They had some drops, it happens. No doubt it'll be a focus point over the next week in practice. They'll be ready for Wake.
  14. I'd say the secondary did a decent job. They weren't outstanding, but they were also up against what I thought was a good QB when he actually had time to throw. The coverage was pretty decent, a fair number of times there was nowhere for the QB to really throw. We did very well at putting pressure on their QB, which helped our pass defense a lot. He was running for his life during most of the game and having to rush throws. Obviously that helps our secondary out a lot. I still say our secondary has a lot of room for improvement, but to me they looked better than last year. Edit - I should also say I don't think Nevada had too many YAC's. When they did complete a pass, it seemed like our guys were usually right there to close them down, which is a good thing obviously.
  15. That did get cleaned up some in the second half (the time to call pass plays). It was blatantly obvious in the first half, by the second half they'd adjusted alright and cleaned it up.
  16. Lucky's real strength is not in outright shaking people out of their shoes, it's his vision and ability to pick running lanes and hit holes fast. He did that exceedingly well today.
  17. Yeah, their QB had a corn-fed beast chasing him down nearly the whole game. When he's not running for his life, though, he's got some skills with tossing the rock.
  18. Keller's targets did have a lot of drops, too. His stats would be better without all those damn drops. We can't afford that in a tough game. Also, I think the mismanagement from the sideline (assuming Callahan isn't covering, but it did look like things were way slow coming in early) really flustered Keller for the early bit of the game, cuz he'd get up there with like 5 seconds to hike the ball and they'd be all shifting and crap. That hurt him too, and it wasn't really his fault.
  19. It's a tough comparison, though. I think Keller is going to have a better team behind him this year than Taylor ever had. And then of course we only get Keller for the short time, we had Taylor for longer. Those kinds of differences make it a bit harder to compare. I like what I saw in Keller though, and I guess that's what really matters for this season.
  20. Taylor was a great QB to fill the gap and he did an incredible job. He did so much more than we could have imagined from the start. He definitely gets credit for all he did. But yes, overall I think Keller is a better QB. That doesn't diminish what Taylor did for us, though. Edit - And yeah, Keller's debut wasn't outstanding, but he did a good job and showed he's more than capable of leading the team to good things this year.
  21. We've got Wake in an away game, though, and we haven't traveled the best in the last few years. Let's hope that changes.
  22. I believe Nevada is a fair bit better than Illinois, looking over last year's results. However, Nevada is pretty young this season and they may lost a bit. Missouri is also on the road at Illinois, aren't they? But yes, I think it's fair to say Nevada is probably better than Illinois. So hard to tell so early though.
  23. That was a great opener for us, I'm quite pleased. The knee at the end was classy, I liked that too.
  24. Kickoff into a slight breeze, to the goal line. I'll take it.
