  1. Wow, rocket science at its best. 1 - Great comeback. My dad can beat up your dad! 2 - Both teams lost NFL-type players. Both teams struggled the next year. Was 7- 7 ok with you the year after we played for a NC? 3 - Guess we'll have to wait for that one huh? 4 - Yep, the math wizard! 11-2 to 7-7, 10-3 to 5-6..........BC did better! Frank won 4 less compared to 5 less for BC, but Frank lost 5 more compared to only 3 more for BC. Callahan's better! 5 - Who do WE blame? Everyone knows who you blame. But who did you blame after the 7-7 season, the end of 40-something 9-win seasons? Who did you blame then? I blamed Frank. I'm sure BC was responsible for that too, huh?
  2. I believe when it was all said and done we blitzed more this year than last. I can't remember where I read that. It clearly wasn't as effective though. I think Hollowell and Williams had a lot to do with it. Yep, we did blitz more this year. Not very effective though when slow LB's are blitzing and getting picked up easily and the front 4 isn't getting thru. The great Bill Belicheck could have sent the blitz last year and it wouldn't have been effective. I'm sure the coaches will be blamed when we lose and luck will be blamed when we start to win.
  3. We'll be much better. Attitudes and athleticism will be greatly improved. We'll probably have DE's this year with more speed than our LB's last year. Our weakness last year (LB and DL) should be more of a strength this year, and with added pressure on the QB our DB's should be able to make more plays like they did in 03. Having slow linebackers that can't effectively rush the passer OR provide decent pass coverage killed us this past year.
  4. Let's see, Pelini has a brash, abrasive personality, a fiery temper, is best friends with Stoops and hates Pederson (and probably NU) for the way he exited the program. Dillard has committed to NU and isn't wavering on that commit at all, has his grades in line and his future looks great right now. Damn thug Dillard seems to have all the reason in the world to me to lie about this!
  5. I do hope this is a play to the Huskers, but when asked about it later he said he does it all the time. Sean Callahan from Rivals confirmed that last night on Big Red Wrap-up.
  6. This is the dumbest argument there is! Solich went 7-7 the season after he played for a NC! So the 2nd best team in college FB comes back and squeaks out a .500 record and that's ok, but BC taking over an overachieving 9-3 team and going 5-6 is the end of the world? The only true way to rank these guys is in 4-5 years when both had the chance to develop their own system. Frank had the time, wasn't headed in the right direction. BC may have gone 5-6, but at least he has guys coming in that can make a difference on both sides of the ball. What he does with them remain to be seen.
  7. Yep, the speed is what makes or breaks. We didn't have it this year. Man, I just watched my 96 Title Game DVD again, and it's amazing to watch our D-Linemen run sideline-to-sideline with Florida's skill players. And if they do get the burst and get past Peter and Wistrom, then our LB's just blow them up. We need that back.
  8. He's supposed to be visiting the weekend. Hasn't committed yet. Apparently the kid is 6'6, 320 lbs, runs a 4.8 40 and can bench 520 lbs.
  9. Crouch, Fonoti, Groce, Alexander, Raiola, Craver, etc.... TO left the cupboard stocked full, and Frank left it almost completely bare.
  10. Our rebuilding has a ton to do w/Defense. Williams, Bingham, Pippens, and Hollowell made up for a decent D in 03, and weren't replaced in 04. And Texas, KState and Missouri loved that defense of 03.
  11. Love - HUSKERS, ALWAYS, no matter what. Like - Whoever beats any Cal/Florida school, Tennessee, KState, CU, and Notre Dame. Hate - KState, because their fans are truly f#@*ing Hillbillies.
  12. If we get 3 more from the weekend that will be incredible. Sounds like Reggie Smith is the most likely. He was a bit happy that Bullocks left for the NFL. I wouldn't mind having Suh either, he looks pretty dominant. Apparently Powe is down at the Army game lugging around 370 lbs, wow!
  13. Rated what, 24 or 25, and that was the 1st game of the year. Did they end up ranked? I didn't mind Solich at first when he got hired because I believed TO would pick the right man for the job. But as the years elapsed it was obvious that he was not capable of running a top-notch program like NU. He should have been somewhere like Ohio from the beginning.
  14. I think the question is who did Frank beat when he got his players and didn't have the luxury of Tom's any longer? When Frank got his QB and lost TO's he wen't 7-7. Then he went 9-3, with the 3 ranked teams he played absolutely kicking his ass. Let's see what Beck, Lucky, Picou, Dillard, Roark, Jackson and the rest of the guys do in 3 years to see how BC's guys compare.
  15. Agree there are no gimme's. A buddy made a 'gimme' bet this year on the Miami-UNC game. 22 point spread, the money-line was $1100 on Miami winning to win $100. Buddy bet $3300 to win $300, needless to say that was his last bet of the year.
  16. Besides 1 or 2 morons on this site, does anybody else have a problem with Solich being let go? I don't think many do. The problem is the WAY it happened. And I for one don't agree with the way it was handled either. But looking back, when should he have been fired? After we beat MSU in the bowl game? Should NU have actively sought a replacement before Solich left? As far as the offense, I didn't see as many 'mistakes' last year as I did 'bad plays.' It just seemed we didn't have the personnel to run it. It's also apparent that the coaches used the players for their offense rather than using the offense appropriate for the players they had, which may have been intentional in order to get the top guys in here to run things. But a few days ago was BC's 1st anniversary as the HC here, and I'm anxious to see what he'll do this year. It was a lot easier to give Frank a chance when he was named HC because we had all the success the years prior to him taking over. And TO personally named him (and TO could do no wrong). BC was named coach by a highly unpopular AD, and changing the offense and dismantling the staff wasn't a popular choice as well. Why not give BC another year or two? College FB is not the same as it was when TO was here, with the scholarship limits and recruiting more wide-spread among teams now than ever before. Frank had the guys for his offense and went 7-7, with the 'same team' that played for a NC. If BC can get his guys in here and still fail to win games and go to *quality* bowl games, I'll jump on the anti-BC bandwagon as well. My optimism says we'll be BCS Bowlin' again in 07'.
  17. It's a tad more accurate than people think. USC, LSU, Florida State, Miami and Michigan were the top 5 classes last year. 2 BCS bowls, 2 New Years Day bowls, and a New Years Eve bowl bodes pretty well for those 5 teams. I think it's important to note that all the 4/5* kids don't pan out, but having them there in the 1st place is much better than not having them at all. I can't wait for the next few years as well!
  18. Just wondering what everyone's outlook was following these two seasons? Personally, after the 02 7-7 season I almost didn't want the following season to start. Really the only thing I was looking forward to was seeing a new DC that was kind of unheard of, and seeing what he would do. Plus we had a pretty favorable schedule, and I seen us winning more than 7 games the following year. This year, I can't wait to see all these coveted recruits come in to see what they can do, and I also think we'll be back to 8 wins next year.
  19. Dang, 28? Old and fat I bet, huh ETR? Got a belly like Carl I bet! Happy birthday!
  20. Not sure that BC is the best thing to happen to Nebraska (I'd vote for Tommy Frazier), but he is doing a hell of a job recruiting. Let the fans bitch, 247. I bet they're hiding in 3 or 4 years when we bring another title to town. Hell, even that may not be good enough for some people. I'm a BC/SP supporter as well. (Glass is half full, right?)
  21. This kid is so hard to read. You can go onto ESPN and read a live interview with him from today with Lemming. A few Nebraska fans ask some questions, and he seems to be leaning to Florida quite a bit. Says the cold weather hurts his leg, says he got along better w/Florida players, says his friends being here impacts his decision somewhat but he's gonna do what's best for HIM. He didn't play a down this year and isn't playing in the Army game b/c of his injury and because he's not in 'football shape.' Not a big loss IMO. I'd like to see us get Brooks and LaFell. I think the starting 3 next year to open up will be Fluellen, Nunn and possibly Mulkey or LeFlore. But I see us using a plethora of receivers next year, and BC and staff will put the best ones on the field.
  22. This guy seems to be doing incredible at the Army camp. He pancaked DeMarcus Granger 3 times today, and apparently was the only lineman that brought the intensity both days. I can't wait to see him and his brother play here together.
  23. I'm not sold on Cosgrove. What credentials does he have besides being BC's buddy? If we struggle again this year with the talent that's coming in to make immediate impact (LB and DL) I hope BC is strong enough to choose what's best for the team over friendship if Cos isn't the man for the job. If we can pressure the QB this year with the front 4 we should be a whole lot better than we were last year.
  24. I think we'll see Jackson, Lucky, Beck, Dillard, Roark, Picou and Congdon all get playing time this year. We have so little talent we need to get the best guys in there. Just for depth do I see Picou and Roark getting action, as the OL should be our strength this year. I could see Beck redshirt and I wouldn't mind that at all, but everything points to him coming in and seeing time right away. These coaches do a pretty good job of getting the best players on the field.
  25. Welcome aboard Believe. Most of the people on here are great fans who see promise in the future; a select few are idiots who have nothing better to do than bitch and whine about the AD and coaches. I'm glad to see you belong with the majority in the 1st group. It's nice to have ya!
