  1. He couldn't do much with Lord in 5 years, how do you think he could coach the whole team?
  2. Jim Rome only has a show or any kind of following because he is good at getting people riled up. That's it. He should be pumping gas somewhere. Anyway, my whole take on this, again, is that mostly the stuff said here is hearsay. I heard this, my friend heard that, I think this, I think that....... When things like this happen, rumors and theories fly when really they make no difference. The fact of the matter is that Pedersen was hired to do a job. To handle NU athletics as he sees fit. That's exactly what he is doing. If this whole thing is a bad move, then he will get his and shame on the people that hired him. If not, this whole discussion will be forgotten. People, especially here, have a hard time dealing with this because this has never happened in modern NU football. Head coaches get replaced all the time around the country and no one makes as big a stink as they do when it happens in Nebraska. I also don't believe all the "corporate business" talk that's going around. That's BS. As I said, this happens all the time when someone's boss doesn't think they can do the job they want him do. Does it matter than Pederson and Pelini have had a relationship in the past? No. It's almost like some people expect coaches and admin people to never talk or create relationships. And if they do, everyone thinks that they are just patting each other on the back. No. You know people who will do a good job for you so you go with them. You know they will do a good job because of past experiences. That's it. As for what others around the country have to say, I could care less. As Nebraska fans, I am sure you realize that any time the public and the media can put NU down, they WILL do it. This is a honey pot to them. They can f*** off. I am not sure where this general hatred of NU football came from. Maybe from years of us beating up on most every other team And remember, IT'S JUST FOOTBALL GO HUSKERS
  3. It was only a matter of time. Maybe some people will settle down now that the great Oz has spoken
  4. "before we won three national championships and I suddenly became a genius." - McBride. EXACTLY. Some people can be really fickle like that. Good article.
  5. In my experience, when someone posts something like that they are just looking for an argument and trying to talk rationally is worthless. Thus my post.
  6. I think that's to be expected. This has never been done in modern NU history and people still have the attitude that somehow we are above changing the program like this. When it really all boils down to winning. People want to win championships, but they don't want to put the right people in the right positions to achieve that. We haven't had to do this before because of the legendary coaching of Osborne and Devaney. Some say at this point is wasn't needed either. Either way, this is the way it is going. As far as being a fan, I will always be a fan. Being a fan to me isn't about coaches or who said what or who did what because. It's about watching the players play the game and enjoying it. I would hope that "Husker Nation" is stronger than this and isn't full of deserters.
  7. I have always thought he was probably one of the worst announcers ever. Him and his crew on ABC. It's gotta be one of the most irritating things to listen to them call a game. Well, he's up there somewhere with John Madden. Anyone else share my feelings? Oh, and I found a drinking game named after him. FUNNY!!! http://www.secfanatics.com/ibf/index.php?s...?showtopic=7104
  8. It will be a good match up. I haven't been paying much attention to MSU this year. Do they have any kind of rushing game?
  9. I'm sorry, but I didn't understand any of that drivel. It takes huge balls to go on a internet website and talk sh#t, believe me. There are always a-hole fans for any team. Thanks for showing yourself. Now we, and the rest of college football fans, would like you to wear aluminum foil so that you can be identified.
  10. K-State was outstanding last night. I was surprised that Pederson didn't mention K-State in the press conference. Bill Synder has done good things with that team. Just think if Roberson would have been at the helm all year!!! Congrats to K-State!
  11. Again, who cares. No one important is going to care what what Joe Blow has to say about anything. It's all hype and BS. Recruits don't base decisions on what a basketball anouncer has to say about football. The guy barely knows about basketball for christ's sake! Dick Vitale is worthless. Recruits choose a school on coachs and the history of the school.
  12. I know what you mean. It is pretty exciting. I have heard Tuesday as well. We will have to see!
  13. blah blah blah blah. What's the problem about a guy having an agenda when he takes the job? I would rather a guy have an idea of what he would do with the system if he was hired than a guy that is just going to be a bump on a log. Yes, there is no doubt that Solich was and is a great guy. It takes more than being a great guy to be a great coach. He was a good coach, but not a great one IMO. I would like to hear why you think Pelini was in on the firing. The fact that he was named interim coach is not a reason. I think he was the best choice out of all the choices. He is confident, no-nonsense kind of coach that knows what it takes. If you would read, the firing was not all about this season. NU will always have a great graduation rate. We have smart kids. Texas has been competing for the Big 12 and possibly the national title for years. NU hasn't. That's the difference. Yes, I agree that Trev Alberts can talk alot of crap when he wants to. GO HUSKERS
  14. I heard that Mork from Mork and Mindy is a candidate too...........
  15. Who the hell is going to care about what some big mouth (vitale) and BASKETBALL coaches think about FOOTBALL? I guess everyone has to have an opinion, but sheesh....
  16. I can see where you are coming from Blackshirt. I would definitely agree that it seems he knew what he was going to do before he got here but I am not so sure that indicates it was personal. It might have been, yes. But is it impossible that he was thinking of ways he would change the system if he were to get hired? After all, he did make a similar move at Pitt. I also do agree that he must detach himself from any personal feelings, if there is any. This should be a rule for anyone in a position where they control a person's job. The fact that he made a similar move at Pitt kinda makes me uneasy because it almost makes it seem as if he has a "cookbook" of sorts. I don't know if that cookbook is full of good recipes. Although Pitt has improved, they aren't that great. Then again they don't have the talent drawing power of a Nebraska. I will agree that he has dug himself quite a hole and will have to prove his decision was a good one over the next 2-5 years. Even if he does, I don't know that everyone will let it go I am proud of the team this year and I think they did an excellent job!
  17. Honestly I was just searching Google for a husker messageboard and that's how I found it. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-...e+board&spell=1 It's a couple links down on the results page.
  18. This might get ugly folks. I guess we will see what Bo and the others can salvage for the class of 2004.
  19. I agree that sometimes he is a idiot, but I am glad he does care a bit!
  20. So you would have let the rumors at that time swirl around the heads of the coaching staff and players? Considering he is the one in charge of the whole university, It was probablyfitting that he said something before an announcement as big as this. I still don't see why people are so upset about him grinning every once in a while. It's not like someone died. It's about FOOTBALL, not National Security. Sure, given how serious football is taken in this state, it probably would have ruffled less feathers than it did if he did appear more sincere. Also, it is about a man losing what he loves to do. However, I didn't take his smiles as being not sincere. He was answering questions politely IMO. That's how I took it, you took it another way. No problem! Of course they are going to back their story! Why not? You can't prove a rumor wrong or right! In the end, yes the story was almost on target. However, I refuse to believe that the story didn't have at least some roots in his changes at Pittsburgh. Especially since the article in the Star said that Solich would be offered a job in the department and wasn't. However the coach at Pitt was. I just think that if you are going to publish a story like this, knowing how big football is in this state, you should be ready to cite your information. That is, if you are looking out for the best interest of the team and the coach..... Who started them if they weren't rumors and how did they get that information? Until I find that out, I still can't say they weren't rumors. Site your anonymous sources. I wonder if I could get away with citing anonymous sources on any of my research papers! Anyway, trying to figure out if they were rumors or not is moot at this point. What's done is done and we as Husker fans have to deal with it. BRING ON THE BOWL GAME!!! I don't know if I can wait that long! Oh and about the "Husker Red Glasses" thing, I didn't necessarily mean you brother. Just the kind of people they interview on the news that spew crap.
  21. All rumors about who spread the original rumors about Frank aside, how would you have handled it?
