  1. When I said less then it took in Happy Valley that's exactly what I meant. We were playing in bad weather in a very hostile charged atmosphere and had turnovers that amounted to a 14 point swing in the game. There was a lot of stuff to overcome in that game. That's what I meant by the Happy Valley statement. It's not as easy as comparing teams on paper in a vacuum. Personally, I've seen enough of Iowa this year that I don't see as big a threat on our field unless we hand the ball over again this week. Obviously if we do, don't plan on getting a jump on traffic because it will go to the end.
  2. Well, the only way Bell is going pro next year is as an undrafted free agent. I love the guy, but he's not even close to NFL ready now. AA could certainly go this year and be a second or third round pick, but I think he's smart enough to realize he has a chance to be recognized nationally with another year in college. His decision is tougher for sure but I think he stays.
  3. Understood, but that's kind of my point. If anyone should know better its the team, but he had to reassure them. I have to think that the AD not saying anything when national publications are questioning the HC job security does affect recruiting. I totally understand wanting to stay above the fray and not capitulate to the mob, but it seems even Bo is asking for a little clarity in the USA today article. The decision has to be made by now. Really I just want the talent we have to stay as well as some of these recruits. I'm normally a cynic, but I'm actually pretty pumped about the future of the program in the next two years if they don't tinker with it
  4. Serious question. If Bo were to either resign or be fired, how many players would we likely lose from the current team, not recruits. Full disclosure I'm on the keep Bo team at least for another year, but the silence of Eichorst on the issue concerns me and policy aside I think his silence is hurting the program. I'm pretty excited about what this Defense in particular could be in a year or two and wonder how many of these guys we would lose if Bo is gone.
  5. Less than it took to win in Happy Valley. Their offense is garbage. If we start RK it will keep their defense worried enough about the pass to let AA pile up yards. Basically, solid smart QB play(doesnt have to be great) and control turnovers and this game won't be close. However with our normal minimum of two crucial turnovers you are probably lookin at a one score game either way.
  6. "I've got THIS many games left before I never have to listen to this whiny fan base again!"
  7. I think earlier in the year you had a young defense that was still figuring things out. The improvement this defense has made since the northwestern game has been significant and when you look at the talent there as well as the youth, it's exciting. The killer injuries meanwhile have piled up on the other side of the ball. Yes everyone fights injuries but really our o-line and QB situation is insane by any standard. I think if we can get even reasonable QB play next year this team will be a serious threat to anyone.
  8. Essentially a collection of all the anti-Bo arguments in one post.
  9. Are people really being serious about Gruden?! This guys name comes up for every pro and college job out there. He has probably turned down more prestigious jobs and jobs which offered him more money then we could ever pay him. This isn't that level of job anymore and Gruden isn't leaving the booth anyway.
  10. I'd love to have Tressel. Just win, baby. Also, lets be honest - we have no clue how dirty ANY program is. there's been documented proof on how he run's a program. He protects his kids...no different than any other coach. What was going on there was so mild in comparison to dozens of other schools I just don't care. Search Tyrone Williams for a classic case of Osborne protecting his players. Throw in Peter's assualt, or Phillips. Whatever happened to Riley Washington, the guy charged with attempted murder? ...Osborne hired him a couple years ago and he's a director of the Nebraska football academy now. No idea what came of the case, obviously must have been dropped but the way it was presented at the time things were pretty clear cut w/ witnesses identifying him...but Osborne was involved every step of the way, interviewing witnesses like always. Bottom line, who knows what would have come to light during the 90's if we'd had the media scrutiny these guys deal with today. Think if a coach today made a comment like this in regards to a player beating a female: "I wouldn't call it a beating, But he certainly did inflict some damage to a young lady" - TO Wouldn't go over well, it'd likely make a few discounted tattoos seem pretty minor. Agree. Tressel isn't really dirty in my book. I just don't want him because I think he isn't really that great of a coach and not a huge upgrade. He had a lot of talent to work with there.
