  1. As much as I hate to , and I don't even necessarily dislike the guy, it is really surprising to see how poorly his recruits turned out, at least considering the hype he had as a great recruiter.
  2. I really think Swift and Potter have the best chance to really see significant playing time at some point.
  3. I won't start a new thread for Swift but, I was pissed he didn't get taken in the 7th round. Three WRs were taken in the final ten picks and I really think Swift could be a reliable receiver in the NFL.
  4. I really don't care if he had sex with a younger girl (happens all the time) or sold tickets. He was punished by not getting to play an amazing Senior Day game and an amazing bowl game. He seems like a pretty likable guy and I'll be rooting for him with the Skins. I have to admit it seems fishy that the whole thing was kept so private if it really was selling tickets. But, it also seems pretty fishy that Bo would lie to someone in the Redskins organization to help Cody. I'm not naive enough to think Bo is some kind of saint, but he doesn't strike me as someone that would go out of his way to tell a bold face lie to someone like that. So, to me, neither story holds up particularly well.
  5. Completion percentage doesn't tell the whole story, especially when it comes to dual-threat quarterbacks. Tommie Frazier completed 49% of his career passes... would you call him average at best? Taylor completed just nine passes last year as an inexperienced true sophomore in Lincoln. Yet he also ran for 87 yards, and VT put up 35 points on us (and beat us). Taylor will come into next year's game having started 17 games including several really big-stage games. Zac Lee will come in with two games experience against FAU and Arkansas St. Oh, and did I mention VT is 30-4 in the past five years in Blacksburg? I hope it's a good game, and we have a chance to pull the upset. But it clearly would be just that... an upset.
  6. You're thinking 2004. We only lost by 7 in 2005. It still wasn't a classic though.
  7. Yeah, I can't imagine why anyone would think VT could beat us. I mean, a team with a returning starter at QB (who is 13-2 in his career) coming off a season where they won the ACC championship game and a BCS bowl game by a combined 31 points. Not to mention the fact that they're 30-4 at Lane in the past five years and we're bringing in a first-year starter at QB with almost no game experience. Oh, and they beat us last year in Lincoln. Let's be honest, FAU has a better shot at beating us.
  8. The highlights were pretty much the same as the other sites I've seen, so you're not missing much there. They had a long interview with Lee and Suh which was actually fairly insightful. I still have the last 20 min. to watch...
  9. Damn is the archive available? How was it? Did they show a lot of the spring game footage? EDIT: Found it: http://www.netnebraska.org/television/stre...;limelight=true
  10. "@ Va. Tech: W 28-14" Not saying that you can't beat us - I think most of us in Blacksburg recognize the improvements under Bo and those of us that follow our team closely know that anything can happen when two good teams meet. BUT, it does not happen too often that we lose by two TDs at Lane Stadium. It is a loud place for visitors and I really don't think we will get outplayed too badly by most visitors. I just can't wait for that game. Is everyone in Blacksburg as nice as you? I might have to try to get tickets if so.
  11. Let me revisit this now that spring ball is over and I've sobered up a bit. Here's another take, to sorta play Devil's Advocate to my original. Our defense might not be as great as I was hoping. Maybe not even close. Suh is our our only real stud. Losing Zach Potter is really going to hurt our defensive line, and I don't think Turner will ever recapture his pre-injury ability. Our linebacking corps may very well be mediocre or just plain poor unless somebody really steps up. All indication seems to be Dillard isn't getting with the program and may not even start. Considering I was planning on him anchoring the unit, that's a bad sign. Our DBs will be decent, but I would be lying to myself if I told you I didn't expect them to give up their fair share of big plays once again. On offense, having a new QB is almost never a good thing. Lee may turn out to be a very good Husker QB, but it won't happen right away. He will throw some costly picks this year. Our offensive line will be solid, but considering the fact that we're gonna be doing a lot of running, we need better than solid if we wanna have a shot at beating the best teams on our schedule. Our receivers are serviceable I think, but I don't see us slinging it around successfully against the better defenses we'll face. I'm sure Helu will have a great year, but that doesn't mean much for the success of the team (see Lucky '07). We will lose by a couple TDs to Virginia Tech, lose close at Mizzou, get lit up by OU and probably lose close to Kansas. Texas Tech, Baylor and Colorado are all games I could definitely see us losing as well, but I'll keep those in the win column for the time being. 8-4 and maybe an Alamo Bowl bid...
  12. Eh... I'm as much of a hornball as the next guy, but I'd prefer running through the tunnel over this. Besides, these guys are 17 year old football stars who get plenty of hot girls already. And I have to say, it's the Song Girl outfits that really make them stand out. Apart from those they aren't any hotter than the average hot college girl.
  13. Well, one of the radio guys (Sharpe or Fiala) said he expected him to be a serious contender for the Outland. A DT only wins the Outland about once every five years, so that is some insanely high praise. I've also heard fans say they expect him to be a top 10 NFL draft pick, which even Jason Peter and Rich Glover were not. Don't get me wrong, I hope they are all right and Suh turns out to be one of our best defensive linemen ever.
  14. For those in attendance, how far right was Henery's 51-yard attempt?
  15. Suh is about as likable a guy as you'll ever find. He's one of my favorite players on the team, and probably the most talented too. That being said, I can't help but think Suh is a bit overrated. He's certainly one of the best defensive tackles in the Big 12, but I don't see him as an All-American, or a front-runner for the Outland or Lombardi. I think the absolute best-of-the-best type DTs are the ones that demand a double team on every single play (unless maybe they're matched against an All-American caliber guard or center). Suh will certainly get a good amount of double teams this year I'm sure, because he's the best of our D-linemen hands down, but I have seen a few too many times where he gets stood up by a single O-lineman and isn't able to get a good push or get off the block. Even in the spring game highlights, I saw several times where a single one of our linemen held him pretty much in place. And with all due respect, we don't have any All-American type O-linemen. His biggest strength might be his freakish quickness for a 300-pounder, and he will get off the line so quickly that lineman have trouble getting a good block on him, but when they do, he's not as disruptive as the best of the best, in my opinion. I hope my assessment's off, and he's the all-world player that most people believe he is, but for now I'll refrain from putting him on the level of Rich Glover or Jason Peter.
  16. Receivers/TEs seem to be having a good day so far.
  17. 3-0 White. Washington was good other than badly overthrowing Will Henry for what would have been a TD pass.
  18. I dunno how the draft worked, but the Whites sure seemed to get the most Blackshirts.
  19. Chris Brooks with a great catch... there's still hope!
  20. Anyone around? Henery with a 54-yard boomer White defense is gonna be tough Washington completed the first pass of the game
  21. A 6-3 final score or a 35-31 final score? Yup, I'm running low on ideas. Deal with it.
  22. I always assumed span-oh until I saw Sean Callahan on a WOWT video saying spawn-oh twice a few days ago. Let's remember, many people (including Osborne) never quite figured out the right pronunciation for Berringer (RIP). And nobody was ever quite sure if it was K-E-Y-O-U or K-E-Y-U-O Craver (it's the latter, FWIW).
